He was according to " another hoaxer " Dr S. Wiesenthal , looking for Atlantis " Past the Pillars" hence his nickname:" Past the Pillars" or: Christophor(= goiing past ".) " Columns-bust" a pastice of Bursting the Columns border.  Only after 1500 when he could no-longer pretend that he had found Atlantis he ex-changed his goal for "India-Nova"

and definitely re-named himself: COLON or COLOMBA latinized from ( Spanish) COLUMBUS" White - Dove "
In fact his name was written differently in three languages starting with italy. ( Genua or Genova.)
