You may also add a category called "All of the above" - since there are quite a few megalomanicas around - in our past history, too...   Cheesy

Personally I would prefer the phrase "influence" - or maybe, perhaps the word "rule" - in stead of "control".

"Control" in this context would be what happened when the indigenious culture - of the post-glacial Atlanteans - were conquered and subjugated. The need for "control" emerge and develops as the subjugated start resisting the invading foreigners exploting their land and lives. We simply don't know if the indigenous populations of Africa, Mediterranea and Eurasia actually needed to "control" each other - as long as they all belongend to the basicly same culture - tied together by organic family-structures, that went from their constitutional centers and straigth through every part of society - including every nook and corner of its per-i-phery...

The "Atlanteans" we meet in the myths offered to share their "higher technology and knowledge" (like agriculture, metals, etc.) around the world. That's how they re-connected the separated continents and their respective populations - giving them all the very same tools and inputs - all around the globe. These Atlanteans were not that many, but by interbreeding with the respective royals and nobilities of each culture - they contributed to a genetical alignment of the various races - around the globe. This activity would naturally give them a lot of "influence", if not "power".  Though, that is not the same as "control" and "domination". That was something that started only after the war appeared, and the rule of criminals, brute warlords and tyrants began to gain rule Asia minor and the Mediterranean - as of the Trojan wars.

In the times of Plato that had grown to be the course of his time. With the Trojan war we see a radical excalation of warfare, ending in the "all out" battle throughout Asia Minor, Egypt and Greece - known as the Trojan wars. 600-700 years later we may see Solon and Plato could have missed the possibility of the original, Atlantean culture, ruled by "cultural influence", rather than "dominion".  Cool
