1:   Which Astrological Age are we in now?
We are in the Age of Pisces.
 
2:   When do we enter the Age of Aquarius?
The Age of Aquarius will begin in about the year 2600 AD.
 
3:   What's the definition of an Astrological Age?
An Astrological Age is the period of time during which the Vernal Equinox Point can be seen against the stars of a particular constellation.
 
4:  How many Astrological Ages are there?
Thirteen, because there are Thirteen Zodiac Constellations. The Zodiac Constellation Ophiuchus has to be included.
 
5:  How long does an Astrological Age last for?
This varies, because the amount of time taken for the Vernal Equinox Point to move through a particular constellation varies, being dependant on how long the constellation is. The Age of Pisces will last for about 2700 years. The Age of Aries was much shorter, lasting for about 1800 years.
 
6:  What causes the Ages to change?
The Movement of the Ages is caused by the Movement of the Vernal Equinox Point, otherwise known as the Precession of the Equinoxes.

The Movement of the Vernal Equinox Point is caused by the Precession of the Earth's Axis.

9:  Why do some people think the New Age has started?
(a) Non-astrologers: have invented many other definitions to mark the start of a New Age, other than the astrological definition.
(b) Certain Astrologers: incorrectly use the Platonic Month concept to try to predict the start of the Age of Aquarius, where the Platonic Month is one-twelfth of a Great Year. Unfortunately this doesn't work, as Pisces is quite a big constellation, and the Vernal Equinox Point takes much longer than a Platonic Month to cross it..
 
10:  How ancient is the idea of the Age of Aquarius?
It's a surprising recent idea, coming from Gerald Massey's writings of the late nineteenth century. [See Searching for a New Age... for more on this.]
However, the ideas which underlie it are much older. Copernicus discovered the Precession of the Earth in the 16th century AD and Hipparchos the Movement of the Vernal Equinox Point in the 2nd century BC. Attempts to take the concepts back toPlato in the 5th century BC are, however, very wishful thinking. Attempts to take the concepts back several thousand years before that - as can be found in a number of modern 'the unexplained' books - are thought by modern scholars to be highly implausible. 11:  What can we expect from the Age of Aquarius?
The famous psychoanalyst, Carl Gustav Jung, characterised the Age of Aquarius with the following words,

"Aquarius, will constellate the problem of the union of the opposites.  It will then no longer be possible to write off evil as the mere privation of good; it's real existence will have to be recognized.  This problem can be solved neither by philosophy,  nor by economics, nor by politics, but only by the individual human being, via his experience of the living spirit..."

12:  What is the Vernal Equinox Point?
It is the place on the Ecliptic where the Celestial Sphere and the Ecliptic meet during Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
 
13:  Why is the Vernal Equinox Point thought to be important enough to control an Age?
In early astrology the constellation in which this point lay was considered the first constellation of the Zodiac, and hence the most important astrological station. Jung uses his 'synchronicity' concept to explain the connection between the Movement of the Vernal Equinox Point through Pisces, and events on Earth, and he bases the Ages concept on this 'synchronicity'. However, he never explicitly states why he thinks that the Vernal Equinox Point in particular should have this synchronicity, and not the two Solstices, nor the Autumn Equinox.
 
14:  Why is the Vernal Equinox Point in the northern hemisphere used?
It's an accident of history; the Northern Hemisphere was where astrology began.
 
15:  So what Astrological Age am I in if I live in the southern hemisphere?
In the Southern Hemisphere the Spring Equinox Point can be seen against the stars of the constellation of Virgo. In Jung's definition of the Astrological Age, he seems to have been thinking exclusively of the Northern Hemisphere Spring Equinox, the Vernal Equinox, so it's difficult to say what this means for the Southern Hemisphere.
 
16:  As it's the Age of Pisces, the Sun is in Pisces at the Spring Equinox [Northern Hemisphere], so why is the Sun in the sign of Aries on that date?
Conventional Western astrology uses the Tropical Zodiac to define the dates of the Signs, and not the Real Solar Zodiac. The real place of the Sun in the heavens isn't relevant to the Tropical Zodiac. In the Sidereal Zodiac of Vedic [Jyotish] Astrology used in India, the Sun is in Pisces at the Vernal Equinox.
 
17:  How can it make sense that the Real Solar Zodiac be used for the Ages but a different Zodiac be used in conventional astrology?
It can't. It's illogical to use the stars-based Zodiac [Real Solar Zodiac] to define the Ages, and a non-stars calendar based Zodiac [tropical Zodiac] to define normal Western astrological signs. It makes no astrological sense to do both.
 
18:  Has anyone attempted to use a different solstice or Equinox on which to base an age?
Yes. There is a theory that the Maya Calendar ends on at a Winter Solstice [Northern hemisphere] - Galactic Equator conjunction in 2012 and that it was designed to do so. However, this conjunction actually occurred in 1997.
 
19:  Why do so many of the books in the 'unexplained' section of a bookshop feature Precession of the Equinoxes in some form?

Sorry, my bad on the spelling.  Was in a rush yesterday.  Love you dearly, but these are theories, IMHO and I don't believe half of what I find on Geocities.  I've found a lot of corrupted data there and hardly ever use links to them because of this.  I'm not saying it isn't accurate, but it's a daring venture.  Even Buaval believes the ancient Egyptian knew about precession.

One cannot claim to precession as a Greek theory nor can they say the "Age of Aquarius" is a relatively new theory.  It is simply lost knowledge we are only beginning to understand again so we call it new & don't give credit where credit is due, on the ancients.

Not to defend Geocities, but I found their explanation of Precession good for posting in
the ASTROLOGY section.  It just states how it works and that's all I wanted.  I was not
researching anything else.  That's why I put part of it here.

Thank you for putting us back on topic.  We can further discuss the astrological controversy in another thread, but I think its quite relevant to the Sphinx.

I think you’ve made your point about the age of the Sphinx.  But lets put Egyptology and Geology aside for the moment.  What do you personally believe?

I for one think the Sphinx is a whole lot older than anyone of your quotes is suggesting.  I think it has been repaired for millennia. 

The “real” question is not how old is the Sphinx.  The more important question is who built it and why. 

The traditional Egyptologist answers to those questions are garbage.  The Sphinx was already ancient beyond belief when Khufu or his son found it half buried in the sand and dug it out and repaired it, and perhaps even remodeled it to resemble his face.

If the Sphinx is a marker for the “age of Leo” as the Great Pyramid is a marker for the center of the land mass of the earth, and the brightest star of the Orion system, (among other things encoded mathematically), perhaps it is telling us this:

When Leo rises again at this point on the Spring Equinox, the precession of the equinoxes, (and if I don’t miss my guess here, the length of time it takes for the earth and the entire solar system to revolve around the galactic center), we have made one grand time unit, (the Hindu Vedas twelve thousand of these divine years are denominated a chatur-yuga).

A different view of the timespan of a yuga is given by Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda. This is detailed in his book, The Holy Science. According to this view, one complete yuga cycle is equal to one complete "precession of the equinox", a period of aprroximately 24,000 years. The ascending phase consists of a 1200 year Kali, 2400 year Dwapara, 3600 year Treta and 4800 year Krita (Satya) yuga. The descending phase reverses this order, thus both ascending and descending phases equal 24,000 years. According to calculations given in the book, the most recent yuga change was in 1699, when the Earth passed from Kali Yuga (the lowest material age) to Dvāpara Yuga (the second age associated with electrical, atomic and finer forces). We are in an ascending spiral right now, and will pass into the Tretā Yuga in 4100 AD. According to the book, the motion of the stars moving across the sky (a.k.a.precession) is the observable of the Sun's motion around another star. The quality of human intellect depends on the distance of the Sun and Earth from a certain point in space known as the Grand Center, Magnetic Center or Vishnunabi Vishnu. The closer the Sun is to it, the more subtle energy the Solar System receives, and the greater is the level of human spiritual and overall development. As the Sun moves around its companion star, it brings us closer to or drives us farther away from Vishnunabi, resulting in the rising and falling ages here on Earth.

Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that the precession is more than the earth's wobbling.

My opinion on both the Sphinx or the Pyramids?  I think I stated way back in the be-
ginning that I thought that they were WAY OLDER than anything anyone suspects.
But that's just a 'feeling'.  I'm certainly no expert.......

All I can say is that, since the consensus is that IT was hewn out of natural rock, there
is no answer here, even if artifacts are found as old as 12.5000 BC.  It could be as old
as the previous Age of Leo, who knows?

I believe Cayce himself never mentioned that it was sculpted by anyone.  It was just
THERE.....He did say that he collaborated with the building of the GP, but I think that
is all.

But, then, I haven't checked on any of the readings on this, so I may be wrong there, too.



As for the Sphinx being fashioned with the body of the lion because of the Age of Leo?

Well, I don't think one has anything to do with the other.  Just  MHO......


As to the why they were built and/or fashioned?  I have read/heard a lot of opinions.

None of them resounded with me enough to agree. 
 

Maybe for the same reason as the Nazca Lines?  That would make the most sense to me,

if we knew what THEY meant.   


BTW, I do find the Nazca Lines way more fascinating than the sphinx and the GP combined.

Not at all! Don’t you see how important this could be?  If we can predict that sites all over the world have been purposely planned and laid out in accordance to the signs of the Zodiac, (which you and I both suspect date back to Atlantis), then this is proof of a world wide effort or collaboration.  Either way, either a global civilization or global cooperation and communication are a prerequisite for such a thing to transpire.

If this could be proven and become an accepted new theory, then who cares whether or not they call it Atlantis?  Maybe then conventional science will start to look for the signs of a world wide global civilization, which you and I both know will lead them to Atlantis.

Heck I don't care it's up to you, Bianca.  I think we were even off on the tangent of chinese pyramids in this thread at some point.  I personally think that the astronomy and astrology do connect with the Sphinx and Pyramids and this correlates to Cayce's statements, matches his dates, but I'll cover this in my own Giza HOR thread when I get home (I'm in Colorado right now) to scan in the material from Bauval and Hancock's Message of the Sphinx book.  They were invited to speak at the A.R.E. headquaters several times because of their research, and they joined forces with West and Schoch because the weathering data dovetails into their own.  Thank you, BTW, for these recent postings of Dr. Schoch's website.  Some of this information was very valuable to what I am working on with engineer Bill Brown who's in Egypt right now!

Cayce did describe the construction of the Sphinx (part of that quote is in the last post of my Locating the Giza HOR thread).  The head was carved to represent the counsellor of King Araaraart.  All the information regarding the construction is supposedly in a "cornerstone" facing the Great Pyramid.

 "Something" was apparently already there (mounds of the tail people?) when the Atlanteans and Carpathians built it.  They did carve the head and laid in the foundations.

17. (Q) What is the significance of the character of the figure of the Sphinx, mentioned above?
(A) In this particular period of Araaraart and of the priest (that began those understandings - and passed through those of the hell in the misinterpretation of same), there was even then the seeking through those channels that are today called archaeological research.

In those periods when the first change had come in the position of the land, there had been an egress of peoples - or THINGS, as would be called today - from the Atlantean land, when the Nile (of Nole, then) emptied into what is now the Atlantic Ocean, on the Congo end of the country. What is now as the Sahara was a fertile land, a city that was builded in the edge of the land, a city of those that worshipped the sun - for the use of its rays were used for supplying from the elements that which is required in the present to be grown through a season; or the abilities to use both those of introgression and retrogression - and mostly retrograded, as we are in the present. The beginnings of these mounds were as an interpretation of that which was crustating in the land. (See, most of the people had tails then!) In those beginnings these were left.

When there was the entrance of Arart and Araaraart, they begin to build upon those mounds which were discovered through research. With the storehouse, or record house (where the records are still to be uncovered), there is a chamber or passage from the right forepaw to this entrance of the record chamber, or record tomb. This may not be entered without an understanding, for those that were left as guards may NOT be passed until after a period of their regeneration in the Mount, or the fifth root race begins.

In the building of the pyramid, and that which is now called the Mystery of Mysteries, this was intended to be a MEMORIAL - as would be termed today - to that counsellor who ruled or governed, or who acted in the capacity of the director in the MATERIAL things in the land. With the return of the priest (as it had been stopped), this was later - by Isis, the queen, or the daughter of Ra - turned so as to present to those peoples in that land the relationships of man and the animal or carnal world with those changes that fade or fall away in their various effect. These may be seen in a different manner presented in many of the various sphinxes, as called, in other portions of the land - as the lion with the man, the various forms of wing, or characterizations in their various developments. And the data concerning same may be found in the vaults in the base of the sphinx. We see this sphinx was builded as this:

The excavations were made for same in the plains above where the temple of Isis had stood during the deluge, occurring some centuries before, when this people (and this entity among them) came in from the north country and took possession of the rule of this country, setting up the first dynasty. The entity was with that dynasty, also in the second dynasty of Araaraart, when those buildings were begun. The base of the sphinx was laid out in channels, and in the corner facing the Gizeh may be found the wording of how this was founded, giving the history of the first invading ruler and the ascension of Araaraart to that position. Just in case you are not too familiar with the readings, the priest's name is RA-TA and
he was exiled by Pharaoh.  When things went bad in the kingdom, he was recalled.

Also, RA-TA was Edgar Cayce in that incarnation......
