People talk a lot about the Sumerians as being the first human civilisation on earth. This concept is pretty much accepted by all experts as being true.

The details, however, are not always gone in to properly, to the point where people understand the extent to which Sumerian culture is still unexplained by mainstream science.

I'd like to open it up a little bit...

Firstly, writing is a true Sumerian first. Etymologists have found no loan words and no evidence of any prior writing system. The fact is that a writing system must be developed over time and doesn't just spring into existence.(www.omniglot.com/writing/sumerian.htm)

Sumer also came up with the first schools, the first bicameral congress, the first historian, the first “farmer’s almanac’’, the first cosmogony and cosmology, the first proverbs and sayings, the first literary debates, the first library, the first money (the silver shekel “weighed ingot”), the first taxation and the first laws.

Now how did what is considered the first civilisation, suddenly come up with all these advanced concepts that following cultures (that actually had the time to develop) couldn't even come up with? It simply doesn't make sense that they came up with these things on their own.

Not only that, but they used very advanced mathematics, and knew a lot about astronomy. In fact we still use the Sumerian's spherical astronomy (seperating a circle into 360 degrees) and the division of the heavens into three bands - the northern, central and southern regions, to this day. These concepts suddenly and inexplicably originated in Sumer.

The system of mathematics used by the Sumerians is considered by many to be more efficient than the one we use to day. They used a sexagesimal maths system.

They counted in alternating 10s and 6s, their place-digits ascended as follows: 1, 10, 60, 600, 3600, 36,000, 216,000, 2,160,000, 12,960,000. It's considered better than the base 100 system, as the base number we use, 100, is divisible by only seven integers, while the Sumerians base number, 60, is divisible by 10 integers.

This is where we get our measurement of time as well, from the sexagesimal system of the Sumerians, this is why we divide minutes in to 60 seconds each.

The Sumerians also came up with the Zodiac, still used today. However they did not use the Zodiac for monthly horoscopes. Rather, they used it to divide the 25,920 year processional cycle (the wobble of the earth) in to 12 periods of 2160 years each.
Each period was a different age represented by a symbol.

The Sumerians knew of all 12 planets (including Nibiru, obviously) most of which were only discovered by mainstream science hundreds of years later.

The Sumerians could calculate eclipse dates, and the processional cycle.

At this point I would like to say that the sumerian knowledge of both the processional cycle (which happens every 26000 years) and eclipse dates (which happen only every 7000 years) is incontrovertible proof that their civilization was not originated by humans. It had to be a far more advanced and older being with great knowledge compared to the humans.

The sumerian civilization was only around for roughly 2050 years. This is not enough time to observe a 7000 year cycle of the eclipses, let alone a 26000 year cycle of the procession of the equinox.

The only reason we are able to calculate these is with the aid of advanced physics and computer technology, which were quite obviously unavailable to the ancient Sumerians...

It seems obvious that humanity peaked at least once before Sumer, probably a few times. Whatever catastrophe happened at previous peaks its a bit hard to get evidence for something over 6 thousand years ago - even if it had been set in stone.

The "12" correspond to the constellations, not planets. This is one reason why even in the Old Testament the sons of God are referred to as stars (cf. Job 38:7-8), and we have the "12" tribes of Israel, the "12" disciples and "12" Apostles. (12x12 = "144", the "chosen", all symbolic). Religion is based on Nature and it`s Laws, and all symbology and numerology can be traced back to it

Here is what Nibiru is and what it is not ... “Straight is the crossing point (nibiru; a gateway), and narrow is the way that leads to it.”

Cuneiform astronomical texts never list any more than five planets (seven if one counts sun and moon), and actually tell us which planets are which gods in their mythology. It should be no surprise that the Sumero-Akkadian planet-god correlations disagree with Sitchin’s.

What do the cuneiform texts tell us about Nibiru – particularly in contradiction to Zecharia Sitchin ? Here’s the list :

1) Nibiru is called a star.
2) Nibiru is called a planet – nearly always Jupiter-Marduk, but once Mercury, and never anything beyond Pluto or the known planets.
3) The Sumerians, by their own records, knew of only five planets (and accepted the sun and moon as planets).
4) Nibiru is never mentioned in any respect with the Anunnaki; it is never said to have been or be inhabited.
5) Nibiru is both a “fixed star” in some relationship to constellations (whether a member or just in proximity is unknown) that “holds” them in their courses, but is also described as “changing position” and “crossing” the sky at times.
6) Nibiru was seen every year, which demolishes Sitchin’s view of a 3600 year cycle for it.

Sitchins assumptions makes a nice story, but the chances are much greater that the earth will be annihilated by a meteorite than Sitchins "12" planet, which has no factual basis

While the Sumerians are credited with many "firsts" (quotation marks because it's only as far as we know,) these bolded claims above are just simply not true at all.
