British airlines blocking swine flu travellers

Sun Jul 19, 2009
LONDON
(AFP)

– British airlines on Sunday stepped up restrictions on suspected swine flu carriers, as a report said four more British students quarantined in China have had infections confirmed.

Britain is Europe's worst-hit territory, with estimates of 55,000 new cases last week, and both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic said they have put in place measures to turn back passengers showing symptoms.

"If we have concerns about a customer or the customer is concerned, then we have a 24-hour medical service we can call to give advice to staff," said a British Airways spokeswoman.

"There have been a number of cases where we have advised customers not to fly on the basis of their diagnosis or symptoms of H1N1."

Britain's health authorities are advising people with symptoms to delay journeys if they are feeling unwell.

"If there are signs of something being wrong, be it excessive sneezing or coughing, not looking well, high temperature, then the airport staff can call in a medical team for extra advice," added Virgin Atlantic spokesman Paul Charles.

"If the medical team believe there are reasons not to fly, the passenger will be asked to produce a fit to fly certificate from their doctor or a hospital, and they will be put at our cost on to the next available flight."

The news of more stringent checks came with a group of 52 students and teachers in quarantine after the British Council said four students tested positive for the A(H1N1) virus upon their arrival in Beijing for a study tour.

Later Sunday, the BBC said on its website that another four British school pupils from the same group had been confirmed as having swine flu following tests.

"It was a bit of surprise to be detained at the airport. We have been in a state of shock," Ian Tyrrell, one of the teachers leading the tour, told AFP by telephone from the hotel where the group was quarantined.

Tyrrell said there were some Americans and other nationalities under quarantine at the hotel, some of them students, but he could not provide a specific number.

He added that two of the children who tested positive for swine flu had since rejoined their groups in quarantine, while two others were "doing well" in a Beijing hospital.

China, which has registered around 1,500 positive cases of the virus, has launched aggressive measures to try and detect swine flu, including temperature checks on foreign flights into the country.

While the World Health Organisation has stopped collating figures on infected numbers, European Union Health Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou predicted Saturday that 60 million people across the 27-nation bloc would need priority vaccination.

Northern France, next to the Channel crossings into England, has seen an upsurge in new cases over the past week -- and Italy has warned that the start of the next school year could also be put back.

The spread of swine flu shows no sign of abating, with Egypt reporting its first death linked to the virus on Sunday after a 25-year-old woman returning from Muslim holy places in Saudi Arabia died in hospital.

Egypt's top cleric or mufti, Sheikh Ali Gomaa, said he would not issue a decree barring Egyptians from making the pilgrimage, but health officials said all returning pilgrims would be quarantined.

New cases were also confirmed Sunday by Moroccan health authorities and in Russia, where a sailor back in port became the ninth person infected since the end of May.

In the last table released by the WHO on July 6, the UN agency had recorded 94,512 laboratory-confirmed cases in 136 countries and territories since April, including 429 deaths.

Britain's swine flu advice confuses public

Maria Cheng,
Ap Medical Writer
July 20, 2009
LONDON

– Health officials in Britain have issued a torrent of conflicting advice on swine flu, telling people to avoid travel, stay away from crowds and even advising women to delay getting pregnant until the virus subsides.

Other health experts said Monday the advice risked scaring and confusing the public and was a complete overreaction to a virus that so far remains mild.

Still, Britain's press dug into the topic with relish, publishing bold headlines like "Guards protect swine flu drugs" and "Swine flu alert for pregnant women and babies."

Since swine flu was declared a pandemic, or global outbreak, by the World Health Organization in June, Britain's response has swung between early claims that the virus was not spreading widely to recent predictions there could be 100,000 new cases a day by the end of August.

Britain's Department of Health recommended Sunday that people with flu-like symptoms delay their holidays and other travelers take medicine with them and avoid public places if they get sick.

But since people with swine flu often are contagious before they even have symptoms, it was not clear that advice would slow the virus' spread.

"You shouldn't rearrange your life around the virus at this point," said Gregory Hartl, a spokesman for the World Health Organization. Most people who get swine flu, also known as H1N1, only experience mild symptoms and don't need any treatment to get better.

Even now, during the summer vacation period, WHO does not recommend any travel-related measures to prevent the spread of swine flu, which it has described as "unstoppable."

In its most controversial advice, Britain's Department of Health recommended that "it may be sensible for those trying for children to consider delaying conception whilst the pandemic is going on."

But the Royal College of General Practitioners called that advice "scaremongering" and said it was a completely disproportionate response since pandemics typically last for several years.

"It adds to the sense of hysteria and panic that seems to be engulfing the nation," the group's head, Dr. Steve Field, was quoted as saying in The Observer.

Pregnant women are at higher risk of complications from swine flu, since pregnancy weakens women's immune systems. The health office advised them to avoid crowded places if possible — more advice that some experts wondered about.

"We have very little or no evidence that being in crowds actually puts you at increased risk," said John Edmunds, a professor of infectious disease modeling at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Edmunds said it was possible closer contact was needed to catch the virus.

Britain's Health Secretary Andy Burnham denied that the government's response to the outbreak had been confusing and said the health service had dealt "fantastically well" with the virus, which has hit Britain harder than any other European country.

But Britain's opposition Liberal Democrats say infighting has delayed the launch of a national swine flu hot line, which is still not operating.

In recent weeks, public fears have been heightened by estimates issued by British health officials, who predicted that 100,000 people might get swine flu every day by the end of August, and that 75,000 people might die in the outbreak.

"About the only thing we know about these numbers is that they will be wrong," Edmunds said, adding it was too early in the outbreak to accurately predict how many people might fall sick or die.

Hartl said WHO wasn't surprised by the wide-ranging advice issued in response to the swine flu pandemic.

"There's always going to be a pendulum swing of reactions. That's just part of human nature," he said.

He added while the virus remains mild, it was important to stay vigilant.

"Viruses can mutate and can become more pathogenic," he said. "If this gets more serious, then all bets are off."

Children, elderly and black people preyed on by vaccine companies for first H1N1 "clinical" trials in Rochester, New York

birdflu666.wordpress.com
Tue, 21 Jul 2009 14:09 UTC
The H1N1 vaccine is going to be tested at the beginning of August in Rochester, New York, on those people who belong to sections of the community that have been hit especially hard by the economic downturn. The clinic conducting the trials has asked, speciifically for elderly people, black people or children. In return for participating, people will get $50-$100 or the children will get a toy.

Novartis appears to have paid people in Poland 3 Euros to get them to participate in clinical trials of their lethal bird flu drug last summer, which caused death and injury to hundreds of people.

While the doctors and nurses have been put on trial in Poland for their role in this crime, even though it appears they were not properly informed by Novarits of the contents of the "trial" drug, Novartis has not yet had to face legal action.

Dr. Matthew Davis, the principal investigator of the Rochester trial, said that because the vaccine only uses pieces of the actual virus, there's no chance volunteer will get infected with the potentially deadly virus, according to a local newspaper.

So, here we have a doctor admitting that putting whole live attenuated viruses into the "swine flu" H1N1 jab, as Baxter, Novartis and other vaccine companies intend to do, and as WHO has instructed, could lead to an infection with a potentially deadly virus!

Infection is all the more likely if toxic adjuvants are added: even Baxter scientists state in their own clinical trials that the impact of adjuvants are negative.

"It's really as safe, actually if not safer, than the seasonal influenza vaccine that people will get every year," Davis said.

I advise those people entering this Rochester trial consult a lawyer or else to contact me at jmburgermeister @ gmail.com.

Flu shots for pregnant women, Aborigines
Mark Davis
July 20, 2009

WOMEN who are pregnant, people with chronic diseases and Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders will be offered free vaccinations against influenza by the Federal Government.

Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon said yesterday the free vaccine program would be extended from January to an extra 2.2 million people vulnerable to severe cases of seasonal influenza.

Ms Roxon said the program already provided free flu shots to 2.5 million people, including all those aged 65 years and over and all Aborigines over 50.

The Government would now spend $44 million over four years to extend the program to women who were pregnant, non-Aborigines at risk of severe outcomes from influenza, such as those with chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes, and Aborigines aged 15 to 50.

Ms Roxon said the rapid spread of swine flu had highlighted how many people could be affected by any serious strain of influenza.

"I think this whole situation with swine flu is reminding us that influenza is a serious disease," Ms Roxon said on Channel Nine.

"Most people will get it quite mildly but there are people that are vulnerable in our community and we need to protect against the harm that might be caused, particularly for those people."

She said human trials for a vaccine against the H1N1 influenza strain, or swine flu, would start next week.

Results were expected in September.

The Government had placed an order for 21 million doses of the new vaccine and expected it would be available from October.

World swine flu death toll tops 700

Pregnant women may be advised to stay home if outbreak worsens in autumn, chief medical officer says
Buzz up!

James Meikle, Denis Campbell and Polly Curtis
guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 21 July 2009 11.13 BST
Article history

More than 700 people have died from the swine flu virus worldwide since H1N1 emerged in April, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said.

Twenty-nine of those deaths have been in the UK but the WHO is no longer giving country-by-country breakdowns.

The global death toll is about 300 up on the 429 reported two weeks ago but since then countries have been told there is no longer any need to report infections.

The figure compares with 262 confirmed deaths from bird flu in 15 countries since 2003.

The WHO report of deaths came as Britain's chief medical officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, said pregnant women, cancer patients on chemotherapy and others with weakened immune systems may be advised to stay away from crowds for "a few weeks" when the swine flu pandemic reaches its height, probably this autumn.

Mothers-to-be are at present not being recommended to cut back on normal activities such as going to work, using public transport or attending events and family gatherings, but that could change if swine flu reached a level of, for example, one in three of the population.

But Donaldson also said some pregnant women may wish to exercise their choice now "on a highly precautionary basis, to avoid large, densely populated gatherings where they have little control over personal contact".

Donaldson has been attempting to clarify official advice since confusion emerged at the weekend over exactly what it meant.

Guidance was posted on the Department of Health website yesterday and this morning the chief medical officer returned to the subject on GMTV.

"We are not advising pregnant women to cut down on their normal daily activity – some might choose to be very precautionary and not want to go into crowded places, but that is not the advice," he said.

"But we will look at it again when it comes to the autumn when we get possibly big numbers of cases.

"If we got, for example, one in three of the population affected by flu, which is one of the estimates, at that point I may advise pregnant women and people for example on cancer treatment who have weakened immune systems to avoid crowded places for a period of a few weeks when it is at its peak."

His remarks came as ministers were urged to rethink their policy of keeping schools open through the pandemic after research showed that a shutdown would curb the spread of infection and limit the number of deaths.

Two infectious disease experts said school closures should be considered to reduce the number of cases and buy time until a vaccine is available.

Schools across Britain have broken up for summer holidays and experts hope this will help to slow the spread of the virus. But there are fears that when classes resume in the autumn the number of cases will increase rapidly.

School closures would cause serious difficulties for working parents, lead to a 1% loss in GDP through absenteeism and see as many as 30% of NHS staff taking time off just when they are needed to treat patients.

In a study published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases, government adviser Prof Neil Ferguson and Dr Simon Cauchemez, both of the department of infectious disease epidemiology, Imperial College London, said "prolonged" closures could reduce the scale of the outbreak by 13-17% and at the pandemic's peak the shutting of schools could bring down the number of cases by 38-45%.

"It is therefore hoped that closure of schools during the pandemic might break the chains of transmission, with the following potential benefits: reducing the total number of cases; slowing the epidemic to give more time for vaccine production; and reducing the incidence of cases at the peak of the epidemic, limiting both the stress on healthcare systems and peak absenteeism in the general population, and thus increasing community-wide resilience," the researchers said.

Such a move would also raise the question of what should be done with millions of schoolchildren during a prolonged shutdown, they added. The authors said that governments in Europe and America might have to take such a step after they studied the impact of school closures during flu epidemics in other countries stretching back to 1918.

They say that study of the 1918 flu outbreak in America and Australia indicates that shutting schools, in tandem with closing churches and improved hygiene, could have reduced the death toll by between 10% and 30%, and as much as 50% in some cities at the height of the outbreak.

About 100 schools closed after the start of the outbreak in May but soon reopened when official advice changed because swine flu was becoming so prevalent.

Donaldson responded coolly to the idea during his GMTV appearance. "I think it would take a lot for us to move in that direction. It would be extremely disruptive to society. When would you open them again, given that flu might be around for several months?

"If we look at what we did in the west Midlands for example, where we did very aggressively initially close schools and treat people with Tamiflu who didn't have symptoms but were contacts of cases, eventually it broke out of the box and spread more widely."

He added: "I think we will obviously keep all of these things under review as we do with any scientific advice, but at the moment I think it is unlikely."

The WHO said "it is really up to individual countries to consider what mitigation measures suit them in regard to the situation in individual countries".

Drugs giant GlaxoSmithKline predicts swine flu gold rush

Richard Wachman
guardian.co.uk, Wednesday 22 July 2009 20.28 BST
Article history

Britain's biggest pharmaceutical company is preparing to sell £3bn worth of swine flu drugs this year, it emerged today.

GlaxoSmithKline revealed its vaccine, one of the world's first, could be available by September after the UK government placed advance orders for 60m doses.

It also disclosed that international governments were stockpiling large supplies of GSK's anti-viral treatment Relenza, which can relieve swine flu symptoms.

Worldwide sales from the two drugs are expected to reach £3bn by January, but the company rejected claims it was exploiting the pandemic – stressing that profits would be much lower once development costs were taken into account.

It also said poorer nations would receive the vaccine for free with 50m doses to be donated to the World Health Organisation. More could follow, depending on demand.

The chief executive, Andrew Witty, said the company had been preparing for a pandemic for the last three-and-a-half years and had spent more than £1bn to ensure its factories could crank up production at short notice. "We don't know how big this deal is going to be, but no-one can say we aren't ready," said Witty. "We are working flat out with governments around the world to come up with a solution."

GlaxoSmithKline has also developed an anti-viral face mask, which is expected to be used by people such as "front line health workers."

Swine flu is thought to have led to the deaths of 31 people in Britain so far and further details of its rapid spread are due to be released by the NHS tomorrow.

The world's first human trials of a swine flu vaccine have begun in Australia, drug company officials said, as the global death toll from the virus rose to 700.

Two biotechnology companies have started injecting adult volunteers in the southern city of Adelaide.

In a sign of how quickly GSK is working to make sure a vaccine is available from September, the company said that "clinical trials will be limited, due to the need to provide the vaccine to governments as quickly as possible.

"Additional studies will therefore be required and conducted after the vaccine is made available."

Dealing With Swine Flu Threat When Pregnant

Deborah Kotz
USA News
– Wed Jul 22, 2009

The worldwide death toll from swine flu is now at 700, according to the World Health Organization. And the U.S. government is gearing up for a mass vaccination campaign this fall, one not seen since the polio vaccine first became available in the 1950s. Earlier this week, the Food and Drug Administration approved the 2009-10 seasonal flu vaccine, but it doesn't include protection against the H1N1 strain that is responsible for swine flu. An H1N1 vaccine is still being tested for safety and efficacy. When it becomes available later this fall, should pregnant women be among the first to get it, or the last?

On the one hand, healthy pregnant women who get infected with the flu are at increased risk of serious illness and hospitalization. In fact, the second H1N1 flu death in the United States was a pregnant woman. Because of this greater risk, pregnant women are advised to get annual flu vaccinations. On the other hand, pregnant women also are advised to be very cautious when taking any medications--especially the newest ones--because of unknown health risks to the developing fetus. What's more, many folks remember the 1976 swine flu vaccination fiasco, when some 500 Americans out of the 43 million vaccinated developed a rare paralyzing condition called Guillain-Barré syndrome that may have been linked to the shot. Just today, public health experts said that there's no way to know if any rare side effects will occur in the new vaccine until millions of people are vaccinated. Those unknowns would make an expectant mom especially nervous.

There's also the question of thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative that was banished from other childhood vaccines several years ago but is still used in most flu vaccines. In a previous blog post, I quoted thimerosal researcher Tom Burchacher, professor of environmental occupational health sciences at the University of Washington, saying that he thinks pregnant women should opt for a thimerosal-free flu vaccine. He's seen from his research on infant monkeys that the mercury in thimerosal passes into the brain and remains there for months. That's not to say that a single flu shot is unsafe, he says, but it's still best for pregnant women to minimize any exposure to mercury. The new H1N1 vaccine will come in a variety of formulations, including some that won't contain thimerosal, according to a spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Pregnant women who want to avoid the compound, however, may need to search a bit to find a doctor who stocks thimerosal-free versions of both flu vaccines. Most gynecologists don't bother because the CDC doesn't say there's any need for pregnant women to avoid thimerosal. John Iskander, the previous head of immunization safety at the CDC, told me last fall that the reason the agency doesn't recommend thimerosal-free vaccines is because "there's still not enough women receiving the flu vaccine, and we don't want to throw up another barrier in the vaccination process." Most likely, the CDC will recommend that pregnant women get both vaccines this fall, but the agency hasn't yet finalized its recommendations for at-risk groups (including mothers-to-be).

In terms of other precautions pregnant women should take to minimize the risk of swine flu, the CDC advises pregnant women who have been exposed to someone infected with H1N1 to be treated with the antiviral drug Tamiflu. Ditto for those who have flu symptoms themselves. This advice--which doesn't apply to healthy women who aren't expecting--is due to the fact that H1N1 infections have led to more severe complications in pregnant women.

One piece of swine flu advice directed at British pregnant women, though, sounds pretty shocking to me. A few days ago the Department of Health in Britain began recommending that pregnant women stay indoors when possible and avoid taking public transportation to keep from getting infected with H1N1, according to the British Times Online. The agency also said expecting women should avoid crowds and should limit the movements of their kids so they don't bring the virus home. I'm guessing most pregnant women would ignore that advice--at least as long as the virus stays its course and doesn't become more dangerous.

Flu infects 100,000 in past week
By Nick Triggle
Health reporter, BBC News

The number of new swine flu infections in England has doubled in the past week, the government says.

There were an estimated 100,000 new cases with the under 14s the worst hit.

It comes as the National Flu Service was launched, offering sufferers access to drugs on the phone and via the internet without the need to see a GP.

Calls have already started flooding in and in the first few hours the website was receiving 2,600 hits a second - or 9.3m an hour.

The government also released new details about deaths.

The latest death toll stands at 26 - the same as last week - but the Department of Health has reclassified the way it counts mortality.

While there has been a number of swine flu deaths in the past seven days, some of last week's total has been discounted after an investigation by the government suggested swine flu had not contributed to their death.

No breakdown of when and where the people died is being given.

THE PANDEMIC FLU SERVICE
People in England can phone 0800 1 513 100 or log on to www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu
The network of call centres is being staffed by 1,500 people to start with working from 8am to midnight
They are using a checklist to diagnose swine flu and can issue a voucher number if drugs are required
The public is also able to use the website to fill in the checklist and get access to the drugs that way
Sufferers are still able to go direct to GPs and the under ones, pregnant women and those with underlying health conditions should all contact a doctor if swine flu is suspected

There have been four deaths in Scotland, but they are not comparable to the English figures as officials there have not used the same criteria.

The Department of Health analysis suggested two-thirds of the deaths they had full data on were among people with severe health conditions, such as cancer.

Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson also said there may be "a little bit of possible good news".

While new cases have increased from 55,000 to an estimated 100,000, the number of people in hospital has not risen accordingly.

Some 840 patients are in hospital - 63 of which are in critical care - compared to 652 last week.

Sir Liam added: "There is no evidence to suggest it is becoming more virulent. Most people with no underlying conditions will get over the flu perfectly well."

The number of people contacting GPs over flu has also doubled with 155 consultations per 100,000.

But the figure is well short of the peak during the 1968-70 pandemic when more than 1,200 people per 100,000 were asking for help.

Checklist

Sir Liam also said the pressure on the health service - every area in England is now experiencing "exceptional" demand - should be relieved by the flu service which has now gone live.

There were reports of it crashing initially, although it seemed to be working well later on.

To contact it, people in England can call 0800 1 513 100 or log on to www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu

The flu service is not covering the rest of the UK as Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland have all experienced much less demand.

They will be able to plug into it if they need to, although experts have said Scotland appears to be over the worst of this phase with 1,200 new cases reported in the past week.
FLU HOTSPOTS
Tower Hamlets - 792 GP flu consultations per 100,000
Islington - 488
Greenwich - 441
Leicester - 440
Telford and Wrekin - 430
Lewisham - 424
Hackney - 419
Barking and Dagenham - 415
South Tyneside - 413
Redbridge - 410

It is the first time the public has been given access to prescription drugs through phone or internet channels.

Although people with underlying health problems, pregnant women and the under ones are still being advised to contact a GP.

A checklist is being used by call centre staff and the website to decide whether people have swine flu.

If the virus is suspected, people will be given a voucher number to give to a flu friend to take to a collection point to pick up anti-flu drugs.

Dr Richard Vautrey, of the British Medical Association, which has helped to design the checklist being used by the flu service, said: "What we have to remember is that this is a unique situation.

"Some GP practices are receiving hundreds of calls a day and we have to prioritise so we can see the most seriously ill.

"So as long as the call handlers get the correct training we can be confident in this service."

Shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley said: "With pressure on the NHS continuing to escalate, there is still far too much confusion about access to diagnosis and treatment for swine flu."

And Liberal Democrat health spokesman Normal Lamb added the initial problems were worrying.

Washington Post: Swine Flu Vaccine Will Contain Mercury

Posted By admin On July 30, 2009 @ 9:58 am In Featured Stories, News In Focus, Paul Watson Articles | 103 Comments

Toxin linked to autism and neurological disorders to be included in shots

Paul Joseph Watson
Thursday, July 30, 2009

The Washington Post confirmed today that the swine flu vaccine, which is set to be rolled out nationwide this fall in what some fear could ultimately become a mandatory vaccination program, will contain mercury, a toxin linked with autism and neurological disorders.

Claims by the CDC and the Institute of Medicine, following a whitewash study that ignored previously verified evidence, that thimerosal, a mercury based preservative, has no causal relationship to skyrocketing cases of autism have been soundly rejected by top doctors and scientists ever since.

Epidemiologist Tom Verstraeten and Dr. Richard Johnston, an immunologist and pediatrician from the University of Colorado, both concluded that thimerosal was responsible for the dramatic rise in cases of autism but their findings were dismissed by the CDC.

Cases of autism in the U.S. have increased by 1,500 per cent since 1991, which is when vaccines for children doubled, and the number of immunizations is only increasing. Just one in 2,500 children were diagnosed with autism before 1991, whereas one in 166 children now have the disease.

A peer reviewed study by Dr. Mark Geier which appeared in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons showed that the IOM research was flawed because it was largely based on a Danish study by Anders Peter Hviid, which did not account for the fact that American children have a much higher mercury burden than children in Denmark.

“At the high levels (of thimerosal exposure), it is undeniable there is a causal relationship, and we have gone to high levels. Their studies, therefore are not relevant, I am not saying they are wrong, although there are many criticisms of it. It is just not relative to the US situation,” said Geier.

Geier’s study concludes that there is an increase of neurodevelopment disorders following the use of thimerosal containing vaccines.

Dr. Rashid Buttar, who has pioneered a new treatment for autistic children that removes mercury from their bodies, said the Institute of Medicine’s conclusion that mercury does not cause autism demonstrates the “complete absence of any desire to discover scientific truth at the supposed highest levels of medical academia.”

“When 31 children recover from a devastating disease by a simple transdermal treatment that detoxifies metals, then common sense dictates that perhaps metals are involved,” states Dr. Bob Nash the chairman of the American Board of Clinical Metal Toxicology (ABCMT) in regard to Dr. Buttar’s treatment.

“In 1977, a Russian study found that adults exposed to ethylmercury, the form of mercury in thimerosal, suffered brain damage years later. Studies on thimerosal poisoning also describe tubular necrosis and nervous system injury, including obtundation, coma and death. As a result of these findings, Russia banned thimerosal from children’s vaccines in 1980. Denmark, Austria, Japan, Great Britain and all the Scandinavian countries have also banned the preservative,” writes Dawn Prate [3].

Mercury is classified by The Department of Defense as a hazardous material that could cause death if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and the EPA is now limiting mercury emissions [4] from factories because the toxin “can damage the brain and nervous system and is especially dangerous to fetuses and small children,” but according to the CDC it’s perfectly safe to inject into your child’s bloodstream.

Despite concerns about thimerosal and mercury, which have led to the preservative being reduced or removed from a large portion of vaccines over the last five years, thimerosal will be an ingredient of the swine flu vaccine which is set to arrive in the U.S. this September.

“Some of the vaccine will be stored in multi-dose vials containing thimerosal, an antibacterial additive that contains mercury,” reports the Washington Post today [5] in an article about which groups will receive the swine flu vaccine first.

“There will also be single-dose syringes without thimerosal, a substance that some assert is harmful to children,” adds the article, without mentioning whether or not people who take the vaccine will get a choice or even be informed if it contains mercury.

Around 12,000 U.S. children will be used as guinea pigs [6] for the experimental swine flu vaccine also known to contain the dangerous ingredient squalene, which has been directly linked with cases of Gulf War Syndrome and a host of other debilitating diseases.

Squalene “contributed to the cascade of reactions called “Gulf War syndrome. (GIs developed) arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anaemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Raynaud’s phenomenon, Sjorgren’s syndrome, chronic diarrhea, night sweats and low-grade fever,” according to Micropaleontologist Dr. Viera Scheibner.

Pharmaceutical companies can be assured that they won’t face reprisals for the many thousands of injuries and deaths that will inevitably occur as a result of exposing millions to mercury and squalene during a mass vaccination program, because the government has already acted to provide them with blanket immunity from lawsuits.

“Vaccine makers and federal officials will be immune from lawsuits that result from any new swine flu vaccine, under a document signed by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius,” reported the Associated Press [7] earlier this month.

Military to Deploy on U.S. Soil to "Assist" with Pandemic Outbreak
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

(NaturalNews) Until now, what I'm about to tell you would have been easily dismissed as a conspiracy theory. It's the kind of story that you might expect from some extreme fringe blogger... the kind of story that never appears in the mainstream media. Only today, it did. And it's not a conspiracy theory, either.

CNN is reporting this evening that the U.S. military is gearing up to get involved in the H1N1 swine flu outbreak widely expected to strike the U.S. this fall. As CNN reports, "The U.S. military wants to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials." (http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/07/2...)

When it comes to the U.S. military, the word "assist," of course, could mean almost anything. Typically, the U.S. military offers assistance at the end of a rifle. This "assistance" could mean assisting with quarantines, assisting with rounding up infected people or assisting with arresting and imprisoning people who resist vaccine shots.

Just to make it even more interesting, this operation will include "personnel from all branches of the military" and it will involve cooperation with FEMA -- the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA is the group of geniuses who handled the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. They're the ones who confiscated firearms from law-abiding citizens defending their own homes, then thrust people into toxic temporary housing that caused neurological symptoms and breathing problems.

Internationally, FEMA is known as the Federal Emergency Laughing Stock Administration. But now, with H1N1 swine flu, FEMA will be backed by the power of highly-trained, heavily-armed military personnel.

Imagine one possible future in America...
There's a knock on your door. A peek through the window reveals two young soldiers in urban camo fatigues gripping M16 rifles slung across their chests. In front of them, an official-looking doctor person sports an N95 mask and carries a clipboard thick with ruffled papers.

Knock knock. "Is anyone home?"

One of the soldiers catches a glimpse of you peering through a sliver of curtain covering the living room window. "I've got movement." He tightens his grip on his rifle and elbows the soldier next to him. "Someone's home. Knock again."

Knock KNOCK. "We're here from the pandemic response team," insists the doc. "We're here to help. Open up or we'll be forced to come in."

Reluctantly, you inch towards the door and grip the doorknob with damp, sweaty hands. Your pulse pounds hard as you crack open the door.

But the doctor isn't in front of your door anymore. It's one of the soldiers -- the larger one -- and he wedges his foot between your door and its frame, prying it open and forcing his intimidating self into your doorway. "We're with FEMA. Please step away from the door."

"Our records show you haven't received the swine flu vaccine yet," squeaks the doctor from behind the bulk of the domineering soldier now squarely positioned in front of you. "We're here to administer your vaccine."

"I don't want a vaccine," you protest. "They're not safe."

The soldier chuckles, blurts out, "They're as safe as the U.S. government says they are."

The doctor peers out from behind his military companion and makes eye contact. "Sir, as you well know, vaccines have been required for all U.S. residents since President Obama's emergency pandemic declaration last month. Please extend your arm and we'll be on our way."

He produces a syringe and stabs it into a half-filled vaccine cylinder. As he pulls the plunger and liquid races into the syringe, you realize you have mere moments to make a decision. Will you willingly accept the vaccine and avoid being beaten, arrested or shot by the two armed enforcers at your door, or will you resist and pay the consequences?

"Please extend your arm now," the doctor says. The military grunt clenches his jaw, eyeing your hesitation with obvious scorn. He fingers the safety on his rifle and clears his throat...

... what will your choice be?

We're only here to help
That scenario might seem like fiction now, but it could unfold in America in the next few months. What seems outlandish today could become a police state reality before Christmas.

But this is no joke. These people are serious. Even the words tell too much: The order to approve all this is about to be signed by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and it's called an "execution order."

So what, exactly, would military personnel be doing in your neighborhood in the event of a swine flu outbreak? The CNN story says they could assist with the "...testing of large numbers of viral samples from infected patients." There's nothing in the story about rounding people up, maintaining quarantine road blocks or cremating the infected bodies of the dead. These realities of a pandemic outbreak are better left unsaid if you're the U.S. military (or the mainstream media).

That's why the full story of what the U.S. military is planning for will never be told to the masses. It's too disturbing. But make no mistake: The military is planning for a worst-case scenario (that's what the military does), and a worst-case pandemic outbreak scenario would involve gunpoint-enforced isolation, military-enforced quarantine zones and most likely the forced vaccination of nearly everyone. Those who resist the vaccinations would be arrested (or detained) and injected at gunpoint, then set free back into the population.

Hollywood has already imagined some of what might happen in such a scenario. Rent the movie The Siege (Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington) to catch an imaginative glimpse of how the U.S. military might handle things in an "emergency situation." It's not a documentary, of course, but much of what it presents seems strangely on track with what's shaping up if a pandemic outbreak occurs.

The very fact that the military is now leaking this story to CNN says something all by itself: The U.S. military is preparing to be stationed on U.S. soil, and whatever freedoms you mistakenly think are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution will be long gone by the time the soldiers arrive at your door.

Wal-Mart weighs role in U.S. H1N1 vaccination plans
Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:39pm EDT

By Barbara Liston

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc is discussing with U.S. health officials the possibility of putting vaccination sites at some of its stores for an H1N1 swine flu inoculation campaign this fall, a company official said on Thursday.

Federal officials met with Wal-Mart executives on Wednesday in Arkansas to discuss the issue, Dr. John Agwunobi, president of health and wellness for Wal-Mart U.S., told public health leaders at a conference in Orlando.

"We are in discussions with CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and others in local and state departments to see what role we might play," Agwunobi said. "It might be we are a site. It may be help with logistics and with supply chain."

Agwunobi said 140 million people walk through the doors of its 4,000 U.S. stores each week.

U.S. health advisers have said about half the U.S. population should be vaccinated against H1N1 influenza. Up to 160 million doses of flu vaccine will be available for the start of the campaign in mid-October.

The H1N1 swine flu, characterized by mild symptoms in most patients, is now so widespread that the World Health Organization has stopped counting cases.

Speaking at the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) annual conference, Agwunobi also said Wal-Mart is planning to be a site this fall for seasonal flu vaccinations, administered by a third-party, at stores in most parts of the country.

But is it safe? U.S. vaccine experts want to build trust

Maggie Fox
Reuters
Sat, 01 Aug 2009 22:34 UTC
When advisers to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration met to discuss a new vaccine against H1N1 swine flu last week, some of the biggest critics of vaccination were not only in the room, but at the table.

Likewise for a meeting on Wednesday of advisers who decide who will be first in line to get the vaccine, which drug companies are racing to make, test and distribute all within the space of a few weeks.

Registered nurse Vicky Debold, on the board of the National Vaccine Information Center, which questions vaccine safety, is also a member of the FDA's Vaccine and Related Biological Advisory Committee. The group's founder, Barbara Loe Fisher, asked extensive questions at the meeting.

Lyn Redwood, president of SafeMinds, a group that advocates about potential links between mercury and neurological disorders, asked questions at a meeting on Wednesday of vaccine advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The U.S. federal government is more ready than it has ever been for questions, criticisms and fear of vaccines -- a state of preparedness more than 30 years in the making.

Comment: Hmm...would that be the 1976 Swine Flu debacle '30 years ago'? Swine flu 'debacle' of 1976 is recalled

"We know that there are some people who are reluctant to vaccinate and they have heard information that concerns them," Dr. Anne Schuchat of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told reporters late on Wednesday.

The concerns:

*Will a vaccine against a swine-like virus cause more adverse reactions than a seasonal flu vaccine?

*Will special additives called adjuvants cause reactions?

*Will the vaccines contain thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative that critics say might cause problems?

*Is it dangerous to vaccinate against both seasonal flu and the new H1N1 flu at the same time?

QUICK SPREAD

H1N1 swine flu has swept around the world in weeks, infecting millions and killing more than 800 by official counts. While only a "moderate" pandemic by World Health Organization standards, it could worsen as temperatures cool in the Northern Hemisphere, making conditions better for viruses.

Five companies are making H1N1 vaccine for the U.S. market -- AstraZeneca's MedImmune unit, Australia's CSL Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, Novartis AG and Sanofi-Aventis SA.

CSL has started trials of its vaccine in people and the U.S. National Institutes of Health starts trials next month. They will compare vaccines with and without adjuvants -- ingredients that boost the immune system response to a vaccine.

Adjuvants are used in flu vaccines in Europe but not the United States and although it would be possible to get a U.S. license under Emergency Use Authorization, officials have chosen to use vaccines without it for now.

Companies such as Glaxo say they will be ready to start vaccinating people in Europe just as the first data from those trials start emerging at the end of September. Some have questioned this speed.

The FDA's Dr. Hector Izurieta said the agency had set up an exceptionally extensive network for what is known as post-marketing surveillance.

"If something happens after vaccination, the vaccine will be accused," Izurieta told last week's meeting. "There will be many, many reports of things that could be, or not, associated with vaccination."

Vaccine regulators and public health experts are painfully aware of the last swine flu vaccination campaign. In 1976, the U.S. government rushed out a mass immunization against a swine flu virus that never spread off one military base.

Several hundred cases of a rare, paralyzing neurological disease called Guillain-Barre syndrome were reported afterward and although no clear link has ever been found to the vaccine, the incident made many people mistrustful of immunizations.

More recently, fears center on thimerosal, taken out of most vaccines after activists claimed it could cause autism -- a link discredited by many scientific studies but one that some vocal activists say is still valid.

Instead of fighting the perception, Schuchat said the CDC will roll with it. "There will be thimerosal-free formulations available for those people who are interested in that sort of preparation," she said.

Plans for “vaccine” bracelets to be forced on people at road blocks
By birdflu666

Former Kansas State Trooper Greg Evensen reports that there are plans for road-blocks to force vaccines with military personnel putting bracelets on people. Those who refuse to take the steel band with a microchip will be put on a prison bus and taken to a quarantine camp.

Evensen also says he believes that many law enforcement officers will reject using this “Gestapo” approach on their fellow citizens, and will question the legitimacy of the orders of what looks like a bunch of criminals in federal government who appear to be seeking to retain their grip on power by setting up an apparatus of state terror, all too reminiscent of that if Nazi Germany where the inmates of concentration camps like Buchenwald were killed by injections in the heart.

Law enforcement officers anxious to restore law and order and arrest really dangerous criminals should look no further than at the people sitting in the top echelons of government, he hints.

“Have you been made aware of the massive roadblock plans to stop all travelers for a vaccine bracelet (stainless steel band with a micro-chip on board) that will force you to take the shot? Refuse it? You will be placed on a prison bus and taken to a quarantine camp. What will you do when your children are NOT allowed into school without the shot? What will you do when you are not allowed into the workplace without the vaccine paperwork? Buy groceries? Go to the bank? Shop anywhere?? Get on a plane, bus or train? Use the toilet in the mall? Nope. Police officers will become loathed, feared, despised and remembered for their “official” duties,” writes Evensen.

http://www.newswithviews.com/Evensen/greg142.htm

“Note: There are significant numbers of officers at all levels that simply detest the forced training at FEMA centers, the requirements to stop Patriots and others simply because they “look” dangerous, and are exercising free speech statements on their vehicles. By whose ultimate authority does this take place? By whose ultimate judgment is it that it is necessary to harass INNOCENT drivers and families? The public sees this Gestapo mentality as far more of a danger than any stickers they put on their vehicles? Where are all these “faithful” enforcers of the law when it comes to confronting the unlawful, unconstitutional, unjustifiable, and unmerciful rotten bunch of usurpers, communists, atheists, deviated, immoral scungebuckets that are walking the halls of Congress, the White House, and the Federal Courts? How is it that the “get ‘em at any cost” morons at Homeland Security have created an environment in amerika that is an unwarranted intrusion of power in 186 other nations?

So, once again, I implore those officers of the law who are in grave doubt about the legitimate authenticity of their superiors in any agency, to simply read the constitution, re-read their oath of office, seek out retired officers for guidance, and remember this very carefully—to brutalize citizens in the pursuit of order, is a guaranteed recipe for resistance. PLEASE do not pit yourselves (all 650,000 officers at all levels in the US) against a seething and angry populace who outnumber you 5000 to 1. Believe me; you want all of us working with you, not against you.”

Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination

By Kellene Bishop
Swine Flu Vaccination photo c/o swineflutips.com

By Kellene Bishop
Swine Flu Vaccination photo c/o swineflutips.com

I’m sure I won’t earn any popularity points with this post today. But I do get asked my opinion on this issue regularly. So I’m going to post my OPINION on it today. Mind you, I will share with you why I have such an opinion, but obviously this is a decision that you’ll need to make for yourself.

1)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #1: Dangerous Side Effects. In a study in Britain, over half of all children who have had Tamiflu have had side effects to it.  (The current vaccination that’s being developed is based in part on Tamiflu.) Additionally, doctors STILL do not know why the vaccinations given in 1976 caused paralysis. Also, since the flu of 1918, the vaccination has killed more people than the disease itself. Um…I’m thinking I don’t like those odds.

2)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #2: Improper Testing. Since the 1980’s, vaccine manufacturers have been made legally immune to lawsuits in the event that their vaccine harms children. However, recently our U.S. administration has given blanket legal immunity to the manufacturers for the H1N1 vaccine. In other words, the manufacturers will simply make a whole lot of money with no motivation to actually test and make sure that their vaccine is safe. Given the history of the side effects of vaccines in the past, I’m also not liking those odds, folks.

3)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #3: Illegal and Immoral. There have been rumors that the vaccination may become mandatory. When WHO made their Pandemic Declaration in June, they stated that all children under the age of 6 were to be immunized. Um, not only NO, but &%$# NO. Our laws prevent such actions. Additionally a government even conceiving of such a plan, is completely immoral. If women can decide whether or not to abort a baby, I sure as heck can decide for myself whether to put a foreign substance in me that is created by individuals who have no legal compunction to ensure its safety.

4)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #4: Known Dangerous Components. The base of the H1N1 vaccination is Thimerosal. This is a mercury base and is known to be a neurotoxin. It also contains Aluminum adjuvant: an aluminum-containing compound. This releases the antigen causing strong, enhanced antibody response. However, this component has specifically been linked to Gulf War Syndrome that has caused tremendous permanent damage to thousands of military. Aluminum is a known cause of cognitive dysfunction. It also contains Disodium phosphate: a white powder, water-soluble salt. It is used as an anti-caking additive in powdered products. This inorganic chemical is also used as a fungicide and microbiocide. Let’s also add a little bit of Formaldehyde—you know, that substance that you’re embalmed with when you’re dead. It’s also a known carcinogen and reproductive or developmental toxicant. According to PANNA, in 2007, California used 30,328 pounds of this carcinogen, as a microbiocide (a drug or other agent that can kill microbes) on the top 50 crops grown in the state.  And let’s also add a dash of Octoxynol 10: (Also known as Triton X-100) a detergent, emulsifier, wetting and defoaming agent. (Octoxynol-9 is a spermatocide.) It can alter metabolic activity, damage membranes, and cause a rapid decline in cell function.

Lastly, let’s sprinkle in a little Polysorbate 80, also known as “Tween 80.” It is used as an emulsifier in cosmetics, and is one of the ingredients in Gardasil, the cervical cancer vaccine that is being mandated/promoted for teenage girls. This ingredient is known to cause infertility, grand mal convulsions, spontaneous abortions, and life-threatening anaphylactic shock. So far, 28 Gardasil deaths have been reported.

Thanks, but no thanks. I like my medical cocktails a little more refreshing.

A good read on this topic is the following medical report: http://www.rense.com/general86/dngers.htm

5)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #5: Too Much Speculation Involved—Not Science. Let’s face it. You can’t predict the future, folks. The planned H1N1 vaccination has not even been finished yet, let alone tested. I’m not about to be a guinea pig. I’ll do what I am already comfortable and knowledgeable about in order to ensure my health. This H1N1 strain has shown that it’s still evolving and resistant to vaccinations. We’re not even in the peak flu season as of yet. So who knows what the flu strain will evolve to by mid-October when the vaccination is expected to be available? Presently they are creating the vaccination based on the “1918 Spanish flu.” As you know, vaccinations have a portion of the flu strain in them in hopes that your body builds up an immunity to it. Ummm…I’m sorry. But I’m not interested in putting even a small portion of the most deadly flu outbreak ever into my body—especially one that has been festering in laboratories for over a hundred years.

6)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #6: Suspicious. There have been a lot of rumors circulating about whether or not this virus was purposely released, etc.—after all, we’ve stored samples of all of the known outbreaks, and a whole lot of our own making. I’m not going to give any of that credence at this juncture. However, I do find it suspicious that the drug companies have been indemnified by the government for any potential physical harm the vaccines may cause—why would they do that if they were safe? And it’s very suspicious that one of the largest drug companies, Baxter, filed a patent for the H1N1 an entire year BEFORE the virus manifested itself. They also admitted sending contaminated flu viruses to subcontractors. And let’s not forget that it was Baxter that distributed tainted vaccine for the avian flu!  Hmmm…setting a stage? I’m thinking that they can make their bazillions on someone else’s body, not mine. And what’s with this “requirement” to the media to no longer calling it “the swine flu?” Instead we are going to call it the “H1N1 virus.” That’s like putting lipstick on a pig, in my opinion. (Excuse the pun)

7)     Why I Won’t Be Taking the Swine Flu Vaccination Reason #7: Mathematics. On a lighter note, I figure that if the vaccine does work as well as it was supposed to, then all I really have to do is encourage people around me who I don’t like to get vaccinated. And that should be sufficient.  Just kidding

So, there is obviously a decision to be made here. But I think I’ve clearly shared with you the main reasons why I will NOT be getting the H1N1 vaccine. I trust alternative health methods and my faith a heck of a lot more than what my current medical options are out there. Perhaps you should make it a matter of a prayerful decision for yourself and your family—or at least a well researched one.
