2.1 Similarities from the Past

If one is to look at the shape of the discovered coded stone map and compare it with the flat limestone artifact used by the pre-historic people of the eastern Spanish coast of Valencia (Garcia, 1942) and those found in the caves of Parpallo, one would think that the makers of these slabs came from the same school of thought because they have striking resemblance.

According to Prof. Wilfredo Ronquillo, head of Archaeology Division of the National Museum in the Philippines , the stylistic use of “geometric compositions” was already a tradition among the people in that area. Anthropologists interpreted the geometrical compositions found on the Parpallo objects as lunar phasing, which means that the ancient people of Spain were astronomers (Marschack, 1972).

This eastern Spanish culture of the Upper Paleolithic shows evidence of cultural contact with and even the intrusion of groups from northern Franco-Cantabrian cultures.

It follows that the geometrical lines on the upper surface of the stone slab was somewhat similar to that of the Parpallo objects found in a cave about 5 miles (8 km.) inland from the Mediterranean. Though the sites of the discovery for both the coded stone map and that of the Parpallo objects are more than thousand miles apart and belonging to different time frame and culture, their striking resemblance is notably clear as to their shape and geometrical compositions.
