Actually, the fact that you touched it in the first place made the topic die. Take a walk, Volitzer.

Hello Dragon,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I actually read your response a couple of days ago yet needed some time to collect my thoughts in order to give your comments a proper hearing. I have to admit to being at first a bit bothered by the way you phrased them, sympathy perhaps for the Palestinians and the Arab nation, while overlooking their crimes towards the Jews?

I agree that the Phillistines have suffered some bad press over the years. Having said that, I don't actually view the Palestinians as the Phillistines. The Palestinians are, in my view, a people at odds with the Jews as much for ideology as they are for a piece of land. They are Muslims, but the Muslim religion wasn't even conceived until almost two thousand years after that of the Jews. Perhaps that is controversial, yet that happens to be my view.

It is also my view that people of good will come together in peace and harmony someday, learn to share the earth, not fight over it. Yet, for that, two sides both need to work and yearn earnestly for peace, not just one.

Sorry if my response was somewhat less than you might have imagined, yet, in this, I felt the need to be utterly honest.

Sarah

My Dearest and Most Beautiful Friend Sarah,

….O but this is dangerous ground o’er which we tread. Let us hold each other tight under my wing and we shall be safe……

I decided to ask you the most difficult question that I could think of. I knew it would trouble you but one must push at the frontiers to expand one’s perspectives.

Please do not think of me as having sympathies for one group over another my dearest. I am more fascinated and frustrated by the struggle and the search for resolution. I am fascinated by your perspective and your willingness to compromise and forgive in exchange for peace.

I have more to ask of you and would love to continue these challenging discussions. But I wish only to do so with your permission. I never, ever, let politics or opinion take precedence over friendship. There is simply nothing, in my view, that is more powerful than love and friendship.

Your Friend,

The Silver Dragon

Mr. Volitzer,

I have twice very politely asked you to stop polluting my thread with irrelevant comments. If you have something worthwhile to say then you are more than welcome to say it. You are by no means being excluded. I do not harass you or your correspondents in your favourite threads so please offer the same consideration to me and to those who are having a conversation with me.

Thank you,

The Silver Dragon

I'll say!

Don't worry about Sarah, SD, I get the feeling you each have different priorities through all this. You seem to be focused on a resolution to problems, and, of course, peace. Sarah, on the other hand, seems to be concentrated on the fight itself and draws her strength from the struggle! As I said early and often, we are Spartans!

My Beautiful and Kind Friend,

I remember as a teenage Dragon, geez, I’d only be a few hundred thousand years old at the time, we used to bait Allosaurs. Good grief, we’d have horrendous battles. Our air supremacy, invisibility and flame throwing ultimately resulted in us killing most of them off. I sort of feel bad now because I think we contributed to the demise of their species. A good fight can be invigorating to the Body but takes a toll on the Soul. Once one’s physical and emotional energy is spent, all that is left is Reason and it shall prevail. All the great warriors that survive to old age ultimately wish to be remembered as Peacemakers. Ultimately, Reason always prevails. Unfortunately, this is a process that sometimes takes Millennia to achieve but what is Right and Reasonable always Triumphs in the end. Any other outcome is, in fact, impossible.

So I say, why bother fighting in the first place. It is best to work for Peace and Resolution. And when Peace is made then work for Unification of Christianity, Islam and Judaism – no easy tasak in and of itself and a process that will take a thousand years. But my preference is to spend a thousand years working towards unity rather than a thousand years taking lives.

I believe the wonderful discussion I have been having with you Sarah is highly illustrative of the issues that torment this sacred but otherwise unremarkable piece of land.

Excerpt from “Kingdom of Heaven”.

Balian addressing Salahadin after just negotiating the peaceful surrender of Jerusalem, “What is Jerusalem?”

Salahadin walking away, stops, turns to Balian and says, “Nothing.”

Salahadin continues walking away, turns again towards Balian, smiles, raises his fists to his chest and slowly says, “Everything!”

Initially the Crusaders sought control over Jerusalem for religious purposes. By killing an infidel, one could cleanse one Soul and be permitted entry to Heaven. Later it appeared that there was great opportunity to become rich if one was successful in battle and conquest. But in the end, it was nothing but frustration and waste. Lives, emotions, property and wealth completely and utterly wasted for nothing. This is the case with every fundamentalist religion where logic gives way to faith. It results in bad decisions that have drastic and catastrophic consequences for innocents as well as those that become trapped in self-imposed rigid thinking. The only way to free one’s Soul is to free one’s Mind.

And as you know, I despise the Spartans, but I love you and Sarah! There is a lesson in this statement and that is that it is OK to hate a culture but love the people.

All my best to you Brooke and Sarah,

The Silver Dragon

Not to interrupt your discourse with your two lady friends  Smiley but I just wanted to say how right you are when you said: "The only way to free one’s Soul is to free one’s Mind."

My Dearest Anassa,

Pteranadon argentum sagiensis of Xian Xiao presents his regards! HAAAARRAAAACK!

As you can tell, I am a Dragon!

Welcome! And, no, of course you are not interrupting. Thank you for visiting and please, please, please feel free to contribute to our discussions O Beautiful One!

Your Friendly Neighbourhood Dragon,

The Silver Dragon

Anderson Cooper: "You claim to be a Dragon?"

The Silver Dragon: "I do not claim to be a Dragon."

Anderson Cooper: "So you're not a Dragon then."

The Silver Dragon: "No. I am a Dragon."

Anderson Cooper: "But you just said..."

The Silver Dragon: "No. You asked if I CLAIMED to be a Dragon and I said 'No'. Why would I claim to be a Dragon if I AM A DRAGON."

Anderson Cooper: "Right."

Hello Dragon,

Of course, we can continue to go down whatever dark paths you choose without enmity. The unification of Judaism, Christianity and Islam? Very idealistic, and yet, I don't think it could ever be done, not in a thousand years, perhaps not in ten thousand years either. The hearts of mortals are filled with violence. Many say they want peace, this is a lie. If religious idelogy weren't the thing to be fought over, doubtless it would be something else.

I saw Kingdom of Heaven, too, by the way, a very under-rated movie. What is Jerusalem worth? Yes, nothing and everything, both at the same time, the answer being: as much as anything in this world can mean.

And yet, for the Jews, the answer really isn't so much, what is Jerusalem worth, but about security. The Arabs can afford to lose a multitude of wars, the Jews can afford to lose none. In this blood-drenched world we live in, we mortals must still be concerned with matters of both life and death.

My Dearest and Most Beautiful Princess Sarah,

What would it take for you to forgive?

I know I am sounding “preachy” but offering Forgiveness is one of the most Mind and Soul liberating acts one can ever do.

Hardly sounding "preachy," Dragon, and yet, I don't think you can fathom how personal this is for me. You ask for objectivity and yet, one can hardly be objective when it comes to one's roots, one's family. Babies are killed in Israel, the victims of suicide bombers. Are we to turn a blind eye to suffering simply because it is not our own? I think not.

There is nothing to forgive. You ask me to understand, and yet, you see, I have also asked you to understand.
