The story of the Book of Glass appears in St. Adamnan's Vita Columbae, the biography of St. Columba. Adamnan was born in 624. The association of the kings of Dalriada with the legendary Arthur is debatable but accepted by many Arthurian scholars, as is the link to the kings of Gwynedd, North Wales. While the late 12th century date for the appearance of Gypsies in Wales is early - they were thought to have come from India into Europe in the 13th century, it is not inconceivable. It is known that the "deep" or inflected Romani was still spoken in Wales as late as the early 20th century, long after it had died out among the rest of the gypsy groups in Europe. No other historical links are available.
