Plato said… “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”

He also thought that only the elites should have the right to vote, so he wasn't exactly a man of the people,  too (sort of like Hillary).

Well look at how educated your average American idiot is that casts a vote.

Not that I'm saying only the elite should have the right to vote but there should be at least some demand placed on the voter to educate themselves.

Having stupid people vote leads to kakistocracies, which are just as bad as any dictatorships.

I agree!

Stupid people put Bush in office, and they vote on issues like flagpins, gay marriage, race, gender and color!  Stupid people are a force that must never be underestimated. Play to the lowest common dominator and there's a chance you will always attract someone.

There's a reason Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin, tho fictional, have such a popularity base.   Grin

We could take IQ tests but then someone would cry discrimination.   Sad

Of course having Bush in office is like a Peter Griffin Presidency.   Grin Grin Grin

...and I'm referring to the Peter Griffin from the Family Guy show.  If you name happens to be Peter Griffin please don't take offense.   Lips sealed

Bush has really moved the bar a whole lot lower for what we expect out of a Commander in Chief.  Almost anyone would look better by comparison.

The exception would be John McCain.  I think he is getting a little senile.  The other day, he was talking about tearing down New Orleans.  Huh

McCain looks like he'll have a heart-attack any minute should the right situation come about to get him stressed.

He doesn't look well.  My Granny is about his age and has dementia.  No way is he in shape to run the country!  And he says something dopey everyday, but the press (which loves him) never picks up on it.
