A psychomantium is a dark room or space, very dimly lit from an indirect source, with an angled mirror for gazing into.

The function of a psychomantium is to induce visions.

The psychomantium is a type of scrying divination with roots in antiquity, and bears similarities to crystal gazing, black mirror gazing, and other forms of scrying.

Some assert that it has been used for contacting spirits of the departed. Others explain that it provides access to projections from the unconscious to the conscious surface of waking awareness.
