VALCAMONICA:

Naquane rock n. 1

(Bronze Age -Iron Age)

SHORT DETAILS - BREVI NOTE

Site: Bedolina, rock 1 (Capo di Ponte)

Subject: topographic composition

Period: Iron Age

Description:

the so-called "Bedolina Map" is one of the most known Valcamonica engraved rocks, probably because it seems to constitute a real topographical map with fields, paths and houses. Previously dated by Anati to the Bronze Age, it is now dated to the Iron Age (Tuconi - Footsteps of Man), after a closer examination of the superimpositions among figures of different periods. The landscape representation seems real, although only fields and paths are depicted (probably in a metaphoric way), and not houses, which belong to another phase.

To notice: Differences can be noticed regarding the much more ancient Neolithic topographies: fields are square instead of rectangular and more distant one from the other. A dot surrounded by a circle is often present.

Sito: Bedolina, roccia 1 (Capo di Ponte)

Soggetto: composizione topografica

Periodo: età del Ferro

Descrizione:
