From Herodotus

Therefore passing these by I willl make mention of the king who came after these, who name is Sesostris. He (the priest said) first of all set out with ships of war from the Arabian gulf and subdued those who dwelt by the shores of the Erythraian Sea, until as he sailed he came to a sea which could no further be navigated by reason of shoals:

When I was checking things out to see if Blue Hue's theory could be correct, I found where Herodotus says the above.  Having posted that tho, there is some doubt as to whether or not there WAS a king named Sesostris.  Supposedly this is a combination of 3 different kings or some such thing and it seems that unless you know the ancient myths inside and out, you won't be able to figure out who he really was.  Some say he did exist, but at a different time.  The interesting thing of note, was that if the "Arabian Gulf" (Red Sea) was the body of water that had the shoals in it, then perhaps Atlantis was around there somewhere.  In my thread Plato's Atlantis My Theory, you can read some of the stuff I came across in researching for Atlantis in Aden.
