All Religion is corrupted

“Religious tradition is the imperfectly preserved record of the experiences of the God-knowing men of past ages, but such records are untrustworthy as guides for religious living or as the source of true information about the Universal Father. Such ancient beliefs have been invariably altered by the fact that primitive man was a mythmaker. “

They claim we are in confusion on planet earth (Urantia) because the religions presented by various communications as coming from God himself when they came from various orders of celestial beings. “Urantian religious thought still confuses the associate personalities of Deity with the Universal Father himself, so that all are included under one appellation.”

We continue to “suffer from the influence of primitive concepts of God.” The gods who “shake the earth in their wrath” and “ inflict their judgments of displeasure in times of famine and flood” “are the gods of primitive religion; they are not the Gods who live and rule the universes.”(p.60)

While the Urantia book claims to give an accurate account of Christ it challenges the Bibles record as well as Jesus’ own words as true. Keep in mind that they claim all the religious books are corrupted, lest it become to obvious that it is an attack on the Bibles authority only. But this is exactly what we find interlaced throughout its pages. The Urantia Book says that, although “Christianity does contain more of the Master's gospel than any other religion,” it made “two great mistakes”: 1 ) . . . the teaching that Jesus was the sacrificed Son who would satisfy the Father's stem justice and appease the divine wrath (and)2 )...to organize the Christian teaching so completely about the person of Jesus.

We are told Christ toured the Roman Empire with two people from India in the years preceding his ministry. Jesus has six instead of the Bibles three years of ministry. His life ended by crucifixion, the cross being unnecessary since: “ The Father in Paradise did not decree, demand, or require the death of his Son. All of this was man's doing; not God's” (p. 2002).

It is these two points the attack is focused on Person and the work of Christ. The New Testament affirms is essential to salvation without it there is no Christianity. The source of the book is well aware of Bibles teaching and does not stop to distort or belittle it. They teach Adam and Eve did not “fall into sin,” that people today do not suffer from original sin, and do not need to be redeemed by the blood of Christ.

The substitutionary atonement are viewed in the revelation of the Urantia book as grotesque invented by primitive men.

“Primitive man believed that something special must be done to win the favor of the gods; only advanced civilization recognizes a consistently even-tempered and benevolent God” (p.974)

“Appeasing an angry God,” “ through sacrifices and penance and even by the shedding of blood,” is barbarous and a primitive, religion “ unworthy of an enlightened age of science and truth.” “Jesus did not come to Urantia to placate a God of wrath, nor to offer himself as a ransom by dying on the cross. The cross was wholly man's doing, not God's requirement- (Basic concepts, P. 3). This is the same concept promoted by Benjamen Crème a New Ager who thinks of the Christian religion as worthless having a blood sacrifice. The Bible teaches that the blood of Christ, shed on the cross, is God’s only means to be made right and receive forgiveness from God. (Romans 5:9, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 9:22.)

“The bestowal of a Paradise Son on your world was inherent in the situation of closing a planetary age; it was inescapable, and it was not made necessary for the purpose of winning the favor of God.” “This teaching that his fatherly heart in all its austere coldness and hardness was so untouched by the misfortunes and sorrows of his creatures that his tender mercies were not forthcoming until he saw his blameless Son bleeding and dying upon the cross of Calvary! (p. 60.5)

They misrepresent the Bible as they teach “The Hebrews believed that “without the shedding of blood there could be no remission of sin.” They had not found deliverance from the old and pagan idea that the Gods could not be appeased except by the sight of blood, though Moses did make a distinct advance when he forbade human sacrifices.”

The Hebrews never sacrificed humans but animals and it was given as an order from God to show the significance of what sin does. Speaking of Moses Heb. 11:28 “By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood.” The sacrifices were not pagan at all but a command from God from the time Of Adam when had slain the first animal.(Gen.3:24; 4:2-7)

“Upon the death of Moses his lofty concept of Yahweh rapidly deteriorated. Joshua and the leaders of Israel continued to harbor the Mosaic traditions of the all-wise, beneficent, and almighty God, but the common people rapidly reverted to the older desert idea of Yahweh. And this backward drift of the concept of Deity continued increasingly under the successive rule of the various tribal sheiks, the so-called Judges.”(p.1059:2,96:61)

The whole Christian religion is repudiated in one sentence: “The cardinal religious ideas of - inspiration, revelation, propitiation, repentance, atonement, intercession, sacrifice, prayer, confession, worship, survival after death, sacrament, ritual, ransom, salvation, redemption, covenant, uncleaness, Purification, prophesy, original sin they all go back to the early times of primordial ghost fear.” (p.1005) The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is denied. “His material or physical body was not part of the resurrected personality. . . the body of flesh m which he lived . . . was still lying there in the sepulchre.” p. 2021, 2023, 2024 - 1313. )
