Baby You Gotta Be Big

Baby, you gotta have a big imagination
So high I’ll never find my way back down
Never find the end of your complicated highway
No map will guide me to every little byway

You gotta have a big old heart, so vast, so true
To hold the whole human race, and all the others too
A heart that never held one light alone
But the pattern, the pulse of all that shone

You gotta have a soul so deep and wide
That I can’t ever find the other side
It’s a pool so deep and clear
That forever would be nearer

You gotta have arms so long
To hold a thousand generations
That came before and coming still
Within your big imagination

Then you gotta have a love so true
That it will bring me along side of you
Magnetize me, mesmerize me,
Then I’ll see in you what I can be

That’s all that it will take my love
To bring me back for one more round
That’s all that it will take my love
My love, My love, one more round

EYE TO EYE

A very very long time ago
Oh fifty million years or so
When women and men saw eye to eye
There was no reason to lie No reason to die

We had lots of fun all day
Sang and played the time away
Ate and sat and passed the hat
Imagine that

We loved one another
And had special days
Had our special play days
If you know what I mean

Then once a year or so
Some of us got together
In the soft spring weather
When the night was mild
Just to make a child
Had a three ringed circus
And to make it right
It would last all night
We would call on the air
Call on the fire
Call on the Mother
The real earth lover
Bless all the water
Call the sea-otter
To bless our holy water
Give it to the father
He gave it to the queen
The queen said Yes
This child is blessed
This child is a Daughter
She’ll see through water
Tell us what she sees
Speak the voice of trees
And sing with the bees
And she never will speak just to please
She’ll give the truth to us so clear
She told me secrets in my ear
Things that I will share with you
And you give it to your children too.
So you call on the air
Call on the fire
Call on the Mother
The real earth lover
Bless all the water
Call the sea-otter
To bless your holy water
Bless your holy water

Thanks Nikas....

Here's another:

How Far Down

How far before I hit the bottom?
The pain in her eyes shot through my heart
There is no bottom, you could fall forever,
Anyone who’s been there knows it’s true
That’s why some don’t make it through

Cause there is no bottom to that pain
Some just cannot make it through
It gets no worse, it gets no better
While you’re falling, falling down
Don’t be afraid of falling, get it?
You’re never gonna hit the ground

There’s only one way out my love
You’re really just a wounded dove
You see you got to spread your wings,
And catch those gentle upward winds
No surprise, you’ll start to rise
And with the smallest inclination
You’re back within your inspiration

How long before I have those wings?
Just see them, see them strong and wide
No more falling now, you’ll just fly
No surprise, you’ll start to rise
And with your smallest inclination
You’re back up in your inspiration

Hey D30,  THANKS!!!

I have never been so inspired in my life!  I blame it on the KINKS, if you must know....  listening to a hundred plus hours of Ray and Dave Davies, reading lyrics, reading their 2 books, the most inspiring stuff for ME!!!!

I got on UTube and google and then just went to town with it.

I just finished a short story, my 1st... I'll post a couple of pages if you like, or more if people want, till it gets to the XXX parts.

Hey Rockessence...

That's awesome!! But, I'm not really into the Kinks that much. Cry    I try to get my inspiration from vampire movies and book. Plus, music, like Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper. Grin

I have finished one book that I did. But, ever since then I haven't been able to write much, any more. That was like 5-6 years ago. Roll Eyes

But, yeah, I do look forward to reading some of your stuff!!! Cheesy

Here's a Kinks lyric..Wicked Annabella by Ray Davies

In a dark and misty house,
Where no Christian man has been,
Wicked Annabella mixes a brew
That no one's ever seen.

Relatives have passed her by,
Too scared to even say hello.
She's in perpetual midnight,
She shuts out the day,
And goes about her sinful ways.

I, I've seen her hair, I've seen her face,
Look towards mine.
I, I've felt her eyes burning my soul,
Twisting my mind.

Little children who are good
Should always go to sleep at night,
'Cause Wicked Annabella is up in the sky
Hopin' they will open their eyes.

Don't go into woods tonight,
'Cause underneath the sticks and stones
Are lots of little demons enslaved by Annabella
Waiting just to carry you home

Wicked Annabella (Kinks cover) sorry no actual Kinks version right now on UTube

Here's one Ray wrote pretty recently

The Voodoo Walk

When the heat stops you sleeping at night
And the dead leaves rustle around
And the calmness keeps you awake
And you pace around the room

That's the zombie in you manifesting itself
And you cry out loud and nobody can help
And it's a one way sign to the gates of hell
And there's no way back
No, there's no way back
Ain't no wonder you can't sleep at night

You just heard the voodoo call
So you pace around, do the zombie crawl
And you shuffle around in the prison cell
Doing the voodoo walk, dancing with yourself
And you just can't blame
The zombie inside of you

Or the voodoo curse hanging over you
Or the zombie walk, like an old soft shoe
Where the voodoo man's talking inside of you
Doing the voodoo walk, voodoo walk
Ain't no evil spirits round here
Or zombie people or demons with pointy ears
Ain't no spooks waiting to appear

Doing the voodoo walk
Talking the voodoo talk
Or the voodoo howl
Doing the voodoo walk, voodoo walk

Voodoo walk, voodoo walk
Doing the voodoo walk, voodoo walk

And the days are like living in hell
You're not well but you just did it to yourself
You know the look
You can tell by that haunted stare
You're never quite here
You're never quite really there
And the cemetery's empty
'Cos the zombies are everywhere

Doing the voodoo walk
Talking the voodoo talk
Or the voodoo howl
Doing the voodoo walk

Doing the voodoo walk
Talking the voodoo talk
Or the voodoo growl
Doing the voodoo walk

Sleepwalker  Ray Davies

Ev'rybody got problems, buddy. I got mine.
When midnight comes around, I start to lose my mind.
When the sun puts out the light,
I join the creatures of the night,
Oh yeah.

I'm a sleepwalker.
I'm a night stalker.
I'm a street walker.
I'm a night hawker.

Ev'rybody got secrets that they wanna hide.
When midnight comes along, I take a look inside.
Don't go talkin' in your sleep:
I might come in for a peep,
Oh yeah.'

I'm a sleepwalker.
I'm a night stalker.

When ev'rybody's fast asleep, I start to creep.
Through the shadows of the moonlight, I walk my beat.
Better close your window tight:
I might come in for a bite,
Oh yeah.

When the night time comes, I start to creep.
I prowl around when you're fast asleep.
I walk around on my tippy toes,
And I get into places that nobody knows.

I'm always around if you wanna meet.
You can find me on almost ev'ry street.
You'll always get me on the telephone.
I'll even come to your home if you're ever alone.

I'm a sleepwalker.
I'm a night stalker.
I'm a street walker.
I'm a night hawker

Phobia  Ray Davies

Everybody got something hidden
In a darkness deep inside
Everybody gotta fatal flaw
Everybody got something to hide
Take a look into my eyes
See the fear and silent cries - phobia
Deep inside, take another look at it - phobia
Everybody got a phobia
Take another look, what you got - phobia
There are alleyways of your psyche
That have gotta be analyzed
Psychological penetration
Of the fear you cannot hide
There's a key to a door to be opened
And I wanna take a look inside
And in the darkest shadow of your mind
What you gonna find?
Phobia

Out under a technicolor ray
It all disappears on a bright, sunny day
But even on a crowded street
Somebody you might meet
Might trigger a repeat of phobia
Strikes again, fear of fire and being buried alive
Dizzy heights, wire coat hangers
Things that crawl and go bump in the night - phobia
Fear of germs
Creepy crawlies that make you squirm - phobia
Images of long ago, memories that you hardly know
A minor childhood incident
Triggering something deep below
Spiders' webs and black cats
Cockroaches and sewer rats
Full moons and witches hats
Creepy crawlies, vampire bats - phobia
I'm talking about phobia

Crowded rooms, too many faces
Suffocation, open spaces
Everybody gotta weird sensation
That they wanna keep trapped inside
Maybe it's a sexual deviation
Hiding beneath a respectable guise
If you are of this persuasion
There is just one explanation - phobia
Started out a long time ago - phobia
When you were small you may have seen a sight
But you were too young to know - phobia
What you got - phobia
Everybody got phobia, what you got - phobia
Everybody got phobia, take another look, what you got?
Everybody got phobia, what you got?
Phobia

I'm too terrified to walk out of my own front door,
They're demonstrating outside I think they're gonna start the third world war,
I've been to my local head shrinker,
To help classify my disease,
He said it's one of the cases of acute schizophrenia he sees.

Well the milkman's a spy, and the grocer keeps on following me,
And the woman next door's an undercover for the K.G.B.,
And the man from the Social Security
Keeps on invading my privacy,
Oh there ain't no cure for acute schizophrenia disease.

I've got acute schizophrenia, paranoia too,
Schizophrenia, schizophrenia,
I've got it, you've got it, we can't lose,
Acute schizophrenia blues.

I'm lost on the river, the river of no return,
I can't make decisions, I don't know which way I'm gonna turn,
Even my old dad, lost some of the best friends he ever had,
Apparently, his was a case of acute schizophrenia too.

I got acute schizophrenia, paranoia too,
Schizophrenia, schizophrenia,
I've got it, you've got it, we can't lose,

They're watching my house and they're tapping my telephone,
I don't trust nobody, but I'm much too scared to be on my own
And the income tax collector's got his beady eye on me,
No there ain't no cure for acute schizophrenia disease.

No there ain't no cure for
Schizophrenia disease

Here's 3 1/2 pages of "PEARL" a shortstory which is almost finished.  I have read about 8 pages at open mic over the past 2 weeks, to huge approval... (it's about 14 pages now, I think)

PEARL

North London – 1967
I hadn’t seen Terry for months and as I approached the familiar front gate on this June evening I was thrilled to hear the music rollicking out from every crevice of his family’s little home in Roland Terrace.   The walk from my place didn’t take that long but I covered years in my thoughts on the way.

I first met him in ‘61, after my brothers had ditched some sort of scout meeting and they had ducked down our back alley with Terry for a smoke and some rude talk.  I had been sitting on our back steps and their voices drew me to the fence to listen in.   I couldn’t see them but I could tell this bloke, Terry, had his back to the boards I was leaning on.  He was telling a story about a girl on the next street and something he said made me wish I was that girl, if only to have him talk about me with such kindness,  My brother Jimmy said something nasty and crude and George laughed.  Terry was silent.  I saw a knot-hole by Jimmy’s back and an idea sprang up so fast, I didn’t think about it, but grabbed a long stick and shoved it through the hole.  Jimmy screamed and cursed and snapped the end of the stick off.  He jumped up on the fence and yelled “Pearl, I’ll kill ya!”  “Try it!” I shrieked back, “You’re a rotten sod!  Why are you so mean?!”  I saw George’s and Terry’s heads bob up over the top now.  Terry was grinning from ear to ear.  “A real Pearl!” he laughed.  Jimmy had hopped down and I knew he was headed for the gate.  I didn’t move.  To have Terry see me run would have killed me, but I knew Jimmy might too.   In three seconds Jimmy was charging at me and George and Terry were on his heels.  I stood my ground with my finger in the air, pointing at the sky.  With the biggest, deepest voice my twelve year old throat could muster, I announced “Jimmy, God doesn’t like meanness!  You apologize to everybody right now!”  Jimmy stopped in his tracks and George plowed into him, knocking them both to the ground at my feet.  Terry stood behind them for only a moment, then he reached his arm out for my hand.  When I put my hand in his, I knew we were friends.  He stepped over Jimmy’s back and stood next to me and the look of admiration beaming down at me made me feel powerful.  Later Jimmy did apologize, which was a miracle.  I saw Terry around all the time after that, and we really were friends.

It was a few years later, he asked me to come with him to dinner at a girlfriend’s flat.  I think he must have wanted my opinion of her.  Her name was Claire….I thought she was stuck up and she thought I was a pest.   Terry and I sat in cushy chairs across from each other in her parlor while she was back in her kitchen shouting stupid conversation at us.  She hadn’t half a brain.  She must have been great in bed.

In her front hall Terry had found a rusted epee, a fencing sword, which Claire had unearthed while digging in her back garden.  He had been toying with it ever since we had arrived.  We had been making faces at each other….I yawned, and when I shut my mouth, the tip of it was between my lips.  I didn’t move, but shot a look at Terry.  He had a funny smile and one eyebrow was arched high.  He didn’t move the sword and suddenly, with a thrill, I realized it felt to me as if he had put his finger in my mouth.  He gently and slowly pulled it slightly back till it rested on my lower lip, and then traced it down towards my chin, up around my cheek and then down the side of my neck.  I was watching his eyes and they were slits.  The point moved gently to the front of my neck and then slowly downward till it was between my ****.  I had felt a series of shivers go up my spine before, but as he moved the blade point up and around my left one and then coming to rest on my nipple, I had to hide the huge surge of hunger I was feeling.  The point moved across and around the other nipple and then began to move downward across my belly.  Terry pulled the point back to my knee and flipped it under the edge of my skirt.  He began to slowly move it forward up my inner thigh…and I almost panted out loud.  Suddenly the clip-clop of Claire’s boots crashed through our reverie.   By the time she stood in the doorway to announce dinner, the epee was pointing at the ceiling.  We never spoke of it again, and the next time I saw Terry, six weeks later, he had another girlfriend, and who knows, maybe several others in between.   He was a real player and all the girls loved him.

I used to try to come to his family’s Saturday night parties whenever I could, and sometimes Terry would make sure I came, because I didn’t go out much at all and the roaring fun that everybody had around their piano was priceless.  His mum and dad welcomed everyone and there would be plenty to drink, eat, dance and sing and everybody took part in the frolic.  All of his family and all of their friends made up four or five generations of revelers, and the party would go till all hours.

I came in without knocking, and who would have heard anyway?  Immediately my hand was grabbed by one of Terry’s sisters and she twirled me into the little front room.  It was jammed wall to wall with grinning, laughing dancers and the joy and hilarity overtook me immediately.  At one point we girls were all doing a wild shimmy and some of the onlooker’s eyeballs were popping out of their sockets!  I drank too much I guess, or maybe not enough… Terry and his older brother Robert and all the others were way ahead of me, and when Terry danced with me I had the familiar sense that he was a possible candidate for a nice sit-down for a while.  I began to dance with Uncle Frank, a nasty hoochie-coo, and I swear I saw Terry’s eyebrows go up three notches and shortly after that Terry’s mum suggested I “take a nice break, dear”.   It was getting really late anyway so I headed out back to have a pee in the outhouse. I heard a sound outside the door, and then “Pearleeee..?”

Terry was standing there when I stepped out and he took his turn.  When he came out I could really see that he was about done for.  He had a fresh bottle in his hand though, and was waving it at me…”ya wanna drink?”  When I sad no, he put his other arm around my waist and we walked up the alley to the street…as we walked along I became aware that the hand that had been around my waist was now hooked about half way over my tit.  I wasn’t sure at first if Terry was even aware of it, until he gave it a subtle squeeze before pulling his hand back.  We sat down next to the front gate and we could hear the party was still hopping inside.  Terry asked how I had been, what I had been doing since Christmas.   As I related my boring story I presently became aware that he was quietly snoring and his bottle was beginning to fall over. Much further and he'd look like he’d pissed himself! Damn, why'd he pass out just then? I stood up, knelt down and put the bottle far to the side. Then I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek...he giggled and flung out one arm which whacked me on the shoulder, then slid to the ground..... he opened one eye.."ya whanna go shruupmmph...?" ....I picked his hand up from the ground and the arm was limp...then he squeezed my hand back. "Huh, ya wanna?"... Both eyes were open now, he tried to focus on my nose I think.... "Terry, I Don’t think.." "C'mon Pearl, it'll be fun!" he says with a squeak at 'fun'... "C'mon! Help me sta, stand up here..."  He pitched forward and smacked his nose against the pavement, rolled onto his side and began to laugh.."OW!...okay then com'ere...let's jes stay here!" I sat down and he rolled his head up onto my lap, his hands waving around and he's humming something familiar, but I can't remember what it is... "Terry, are you feeling sick?" "Nah, I feel beeyootiful! gimme kiss!" "No thanks... maybe tomorrow.." "Hmmmm, tomorrow...OK I'll wait...wha time is it?" "About three, maybe later.." "Pearl darlin’, it IS tomorrow...NOW!" "Well, then, day after tomorrow..." Terry shut his eyes...he seemed to be pondering me as a lost cause..."You sure you wanna wait?" "Pretty sure" "OK.... g'night then" Immediately I hear his breathing change to sleep... People are leaving and pass the gate, and smile at the two of us…they're shaking their heads and laughing. Terry looks like an angel without a care in the world. I lean back against the fence and lace my fingers into his hair...the world seems just fine....
