Archaeological site dating back to Paleolithic Age found in al-Mahwait

[08 February 2008]

SANA'A, Feb. 08 (Saba) - A French Archaeological mission has found out a new archaeological site in al-Mahweet province dating back to the Paleolithic Age one century before the Christian Era.

The state-run almotamar.net quoted official sources as saying that the French mission found out the site after two years of surveying the area where the site is located and came cross with stone instruments such as knives and spades that were used in the Stone Age.

The sources said that concerned authorities had discussed measures to protect the site after a meeting with the mission members.
