I thought we would begin using the Atlantis in Media space to promote various books and documentaries on Atlantis.

This first one is something that I haver personally found invaluable:

The Atlantis Encyclopedia (Paperback)
by Frank Joseph (Author)

Editorial Reviews

Book Description
A handbook of Atlantean information for general readers and specialists alike!
This is an invaluable, one-of-a-kind reference. Unlike most other books on the subject, The Atlantis Encyclopedia offers fewer theories and more facts. Although it does not set out to prove the sunken capital actually existed, The Atlantis Encyclopedia musters so much evidence on its behalf, even skeptics may conclude that there must be at least something factual behind such an enduring, indeed global legend. You’ll learn:

* What was Atlantis? * Where was it located? * How long ago did it flourish? * How was it destroyed? * What became of its survivors? * Have any remains of Atlantis ever been found? * Will Atlantis ever be found? * Did Atlantis have any impact on America?

About the Author
Since 1993, Frank Joseph has been the editor-in-chief of Ancient American, a popular science magazine describing overseas visitors to our continent centuries before the arrival of Columbus. Joseph's dozen books on Atlantis, history, and metaphysics have been published in as many foreign language editions around the world. Joseph participated in diving expeditions to the Bahamas, Yucatan, the Canary Islands, Aegean Sea, and Pacific Ocean. Decades of these on-site explorations combined with research in the libraries of the world and the shared wisdom of devoted colleagues to produce this unique volume.

Thank you for the tip, Sun Goddess.  It sounds like a 'must have'.

I have it!  It is very useful, but Joseph places Atlantis in a time far away from 10,000 BC. so most of the information revolves around the later date of 1500 BC.  However, it IS a must have and he did some thorough research on so many different cultures.  It's amazing.  Cheesy

Yes, I don't know how Joseph arrives at that earlier date for Atlantis, but most of the other information he has in it is very useful. And I don't like his background either, but none of those former beliefs seem to play a role in his life these days, at least.
