Well, whatever you do, don't do zombies! I was planning on doing something on that myself once I collected enough research on them.

Every culture has their legends about shape-shifters. A favorite old movie of mine is "Cat People" starring Simon Simon, who just died recently. In that one, a leopard is subsituted for a wolf, with the heroine (Simon) taking on the role of the shapeshifter. It was very artfully done, unlike the remake during the 1980's, starring Natassia Kinski.

Hi Jean fascinating topic

I read somewhere that it is thought the Berserkers ingested ergo to bring on there altered state.

Storyteller

In days of old
Stories were told
Of the brave and bold

Round the fire
Youths would listen
Eyes a'glisten

In the night
Dark to sight

Forms a'glide
With ghastly stride
Come to steal their earthly pride

Hearts a'pound
At the sound

Of screeching cat
And howling hound

I did a research paper on werewolves
and found that there was a suprisingly large community of therianthropists.

Hopefully, you'll get those stars up to a well-deserved FIVE.

How do you really know someone is a therianthropist (which I guess means "shape-shifter" from above), just take their word for it..?

well I guess they could be called that if they define themselves that way. From what I have read most don't claim physical transformation, but more like a shift in personality/spirit.

They seem to feel they have an animal spirit, either within them or as part of there own at least this was the impression I got.

I think part of this is the modern dissociation
from the natural world, also a longing to be freed from the restrictions of civilized society.

Ever see the first "Howling" movie, Unknown..?

The best werewolf movie ever, in my opinion! And that even takes into account the one back in the '40s!

Sounds a lot like what you're talking about, the other Howling movies were crap!

Yah the Howling was great, They didn't want to just eat cows anymore. Some great characters in that one.
