Hot Zone Documentary, Chapter One: Introduction
The documentary about Kevin Sites in the Hot Zone is complete and will be shown here, exclusively online, in its entirety.
By Kevin Sites, Tue Oct 2, 1:40 PM ETEmail Story IM Story
"A World of Conflict" is the documentary about the "Kevin Sites in the Hot Zone" project, in which veteran war correspondent Kevin Sites reported from every major global conflict in one year, in an effort to understand the costs of a world perpetually at war.

For the next 15 weeks, we will highlight one chapter of the documentary each week, allowing you to see the film in its entirety — entirely online.

The documentary is included with Sites' new book, "In the Hot Zone: One Man. One Year. Twenty Wars." (The Harper Perennial paperback original is available for presale now at Amazon.com.)

The documentary contains searing, never-before-seen images of combat and its lingering impact on civil society, beginning with the anarchy of Somalia in September 2005 and culminating with the explosive war between Israel and Hezbollah in summer 2006.

Along the way we meet both the perpetrators and the victims of conflicts; armies and insurgents; child soldiers and child brides; tales of heartless degradation and inspiring resilience.

The film also documents Sites' return to Fallujah, Iraq, the scene of a controversial battle where he videotaped a U.S. Marine killing a wounded, unarmed Iraqi insurgent inside a mosque.

A World of Conflict puts a human face on war, ultimately imploring us as global citizens to assume greater responsibility by becoming more aware.

Chapter 1: Opening Montage
The opening montage of the film features unforgettable images from all the conflict zones, edited together by Director Jeffrey Porter and Editor Steve Neilson, with a beautiful and haunting score by composer Damian Wagner.

This chapter then examines how Sites' experience in Fallujah led him to leave his career as a freelance TV war correspondent, join Yahoo! News and begin the Hot Zone project.

Want to stop 90% of the wars on this planet.  Bomb a Bilderberg meeting.

That would do it!  I'd settle for a few Carlyle Group meetings, for good measure.
