In this photo released by Indiana University
on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, anthropology
doctoral student Fritz Hanselmann documents
one of the cannons found in the shallow waters
off Catalina Island, southeast of the Dominican
Republic, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007. A U.S. under-
water archaeology team announced it has likely
discovered the shattered remnants of the
Quedagh Merchant, a ship once captained by
the notorious buccaneer William Kidd.
