                                               Special Alert: Horoscope U.S.A.

A planetary configuration not seen since 1776 is coming our way,

                                           heralding chaos, revolution, and rebirth.

Let the stars guide you through the coming storm.

by Michael Lutin VF.COM
December 6, 2006

All alone and more paranoid by the day, President George W. Bush is getting it from all sides, and despite his bravado, which some people call a defensive, adolescent swagger, he can't trust anybody, not even his mother. (Especially not his mother.) His detractors blame him for the state the world is in. Extremists go one further and say the world is coming to an end. Most of us in this country just want gas prices to go down, the dollar to go up, and America to go back to the good old days.

Astrologers can tell you that that's not going to happen, but that, no matter what, we'll never go broke either. They can also explain George Bush's predicament by pointing out that he's a Cancer, and that in coming years Cancers are going to be challenged to expand their whole worldview. In fact, we can all gain perspective on what is happening politically, culturally, and socially in America by turning to the Zodiac, especially the signs of Cancer and Capricorn. For nations, like people, have horoscopes.

America was born on July 4, 1776, when the Founding Fathers decided it was time to separate from England and start a new life as an independent entity. That makes America a Cancer nation. Cancer is the sign of fertility, and America sees herself as the world's nurturing mother. But because of the hostile presence of Mars and Uranus in our solar 12th house, we're the kind of nurturer that can bomb the hell out of a country one day and send over sandwiches and coffee the next. That makes the rest of the world love us and hate us. We're like the rich relative everybody is jealous of but still visits for the holidays because there's always plenty of food. It is the sincere and conscious wish of every Cancer, including the U.S.A., to make sure that all those under its wing are safe—and if you mess with them, you must be ready to face the Special Forces.

Security and home are primal drives of this sign, sometimes to the point of clannishness or even xenophobia. America is and always has been about property, taxes, and land ownership. Conveniently, we forget that when the early settlers arrived they took one look around and said to the Indians, "What a gorgeous place you've got here! Get out!" Territory is everything, and if anyone tells you that the essence of the American Dream is just about liberty and freedom, don't kid yourself. It's about mortgage rates.

But are we, in the end, ruthless imperialists doomed to be brought down by our degenerate culture? That is the question Pluto's transit through the sign of Capricorn over the next 19 years will answer. It will challenge us as we have never been challenged before—until it will seem that the whole world is against us—but it will also reveal the secret of how we need to change.

The sign of Capricorn has always been strong in our Cancer nation's horoscope, and it's going to get a lot stronger. We were born with Pluto in Capricorn, and now, more than two centuries later, Pluto is coming back to the same place. The seeds that were sown back in the 1770s are sprouting at last. That's how Pluto works, over hundreds of years.

Though Pluto has recently been demoted by astronomers to a not-quite planet, try telling that to any Sadge who's been to hell and back over the last 10 years, thanks to the passage of Pluto through Sagittarius. The power of the little dwarf is so profound and catastrophic that it doesn't matter if you call it a planet or not—it's a killer. But, oddly, it's also a healer. When Pluto moves into your sign, it threatens to devastate you emotionally and physically, letting you know along the way that you must stop whatever you are doing. However you were conducting business or your personal life, that's over. Finito. Kaput.

When you come out of a Pluto transit, you are changed forever. In another state. But during the process you don't realize what's happening. Life can get pretty dark. With Pluto, you can't look ahead. You can't be impatient. Most of all, you shouldn't be afraid, because in the end there is nothing to fear. You just have to surrender to the mysterious process of complete and total transformation. This is about to happen to the United States as we deal with an opposition of Pluto in the sign of Capricorn to our Cancer sun. And while Cancers and Capricorns will be most strongly affected by this planetary motion, we will all be touched in business as well as in our personal lives, no matter what sign we were born under. Because of Pluto's slow motion through the heavens—it takes it nearly 250 years to go through the 12 signs of the Zodiac—it rules over mass movements and great political and social changes. So it might be useful to look at what happened the last time Pluto passed over the position it holds now and will hold for the next 20 years.

Sometime in the 1760s, pamphlets began to circulate in the colonies, exploring new ideologies and belief systems concerning individual liberty and personal freedom. Harmless enough. Just philosophers spouting rehashed versions of ancient Greek and Roman notions. But the Crown over in England looked upon such doings as seditious. Mother England, once the great protector, was beginning to be the great drag. She wanted payback for all the protection she'd provided. That was when the colonists, starting to exhibit the collective traits of a Cancer nation, came to resent their mother's hold on them. She was getting a little too bossy. And greedy.

Clearly, something was happening up in the heavens. Pluto was just about to leave the sign of Sagittarius and enter the sign of Capricorn. A transformation was taking place. And so, the United States of America was born.

Something similar is happening again, 230 years later, as Pluto is coming around to the same spot. This time, however, it's the American government that is putting the squeeze on the people. A Pluto-style transformation doesn't happen overnight, and events that seem at first random and explosive don't come out of nowhere. They have been brewing and simmering for years. While many people will probably be nervous wrecks during the two turbulent decades ahead, many old hippies will come joyfully out of retirement, thankful that the revolution they quit their jobs for 40 years ago may finally be happening. And their kids, born in the 60s and 70s, who grew up embarrassed by their hippie parents, may be shocked to see how right their parents were.

When Pluto goes direct in September of this year, the religious zeal, or madness, that has taken hold since it entered Sagittarius in 1994 will reach a crescendo, ushering in a period dominated by the sign of Capricorn. Our "dialogue" with radical Islam has only just begun. Over the next 19 years or so, America as a Cancer nation will have to deal with troubling confrontations and competition such as it has never known, as well as an internal political struggle, all of which will shake us to our very core.

Capricorn can be pictured as the mustache-twirling landlord in a black cloak pointing outside toward the blizzard while a poor pregnant wretch begs for mercy. Capricorn forces one to grow up, face life, recognize that it's a tough world. It lends you a dime and asks for a dollar in return. It can be the sign of an inspired leader or a controlling, dominating fascist. It can support your existence or threaten it completely. Either way, the presence of Capricorn always indicates big business. And what is America about if not that?

Capricorn represents supremacy and power. And if Capricorn is not the most humanitarian sign of the Zodiac, it always means stability. Capricorn supports organized society, not rabble-rousing anarchy. It is often perceived as uptight and reactionary, mainly because its function is to uphold existing law. It is not progressive or forward-thinking.

It clearly represents the deep streak of conservatism that has always existed in the United States but that seems to be ascendant at the moment. If Capricorn protects the status quo, how did it help sow the seeds of revolution in the original colonies? There's the problem. And the answer? It was not just the presence of Capricorn in America's horoscope, it was the presence of Pluto in that sign that sparked the fight for freedom.

If you think that things are tough now, and that privacy and other personal liberties are being infringed upon, just wait. During the next 19 years, things are going to get much tighter. Controls and laws will become more stringent. Pluto in Capricorn will demand conformity, born out of fear that different is dangerous. The more resistance to government protection, the more protection the government will try to provide. The words "patriot" and "treason" will lose their meaning, and in some cases they will become interchangeable. What is treason to one person will be patriotism to another—just as it was back in the 1760s and 70s. The country's mood will become darker and much more conservative. It's not going to be a matter of Democrat or Republican anymore, because the new ideologies will bleed across party lines.

Fortunately, something else will be going on at the same time. While Pluto is in Capricorn, Uranus will be leaving the sign of Pisces and reaching the end of the Zodiac, and sometime between 2009 and 2011 the dam is going to break. The last time this happened was at the end of the 1920s. When Uranus comes to the last degrees of Pisces, it will spell the end of an era. People will figure, "Aw, the hell with it. The end is coming anyway, so give me a double martini."

As we get closer to that time, people will put all their chips on the table. The stakes will get higher. (Incidentally, America began the war in Iraq when the sun was at the end of Pisces—a perfectly moronic time to start anything.) Metaphorically, culturally, and sometimes even literally, Uranus at the end of Pisces can seem like a torrential flood that comes out of nowhere. Everything that has piled up and been swept under the rug comes spilling out. To the apocalypse crowd, it will seem like the wrath of God, because lots of people are going to be headed toward self-indulgence, turning up the music and dancing, even hurrying the end, much as they did in America during the 1920s.

When Uranus hits the 29th degree of Pisces, before it pops into Aries, even the Pope could have a stroke over the upheaval the world will find itself in. Uranus in Pisces washes everything away—every hope, every prayer—and the only thing that saves you is the ability to surrender to the inevitable shift. Once Uranus hits Aries, however, a whole segment of the population is going to rise up. When the government becomes business and business becomes government, the people will fight back, and the ensuing struggle will lead to the eventual transformation and rebirth of America.

Pluto in Capricorn is going to change America from the inside out, threaten our very existence, challenge our economy, and divide the country politically. The government is going to be so paranoid during those years that it doesn't really matter who gets in in 2008.

Pluto in Capricorn means the ascendance into overt power of corporations in relation to the government. But that situation will change when Pluto enters Aquarius, at the end of the 2020s.

The period of turbulence that lies before us all in America is not God's wrath or the work of radical Muslims, and it has nothing to do with the hole in the ozone layer. It is a necessary and inevitable step in the evolution of this country that will result in a reworking of the Constitution in the last half of the 2020s.

This political, social, cultural, and economic change will mark the rebirth of the United States as a more global nation—a member of the world, if not the leader of the world. This is a threatening challenge to the notions of land ownership, security, wealth, and supremacy our Cancer nation has enjoyed for more than two centuries. The dollar will not likely go back to its post–W.W. II strength. Other countries will reject our exploitation and demand instead our cooperation. Luckily for us, the horoscope of the U.S.A. is strongly influenced by Venus and Jupiter, so we'll never go totally broke or hungry. We will, however, have to play ball with the rest of planet Earth as we never have before. From now on it's cooperate, or else.

No one is really to blame. We've brought ourselves to this crisis, through a combination of individual freedom and economic gain, as well as a blind, isolating grandiosity. America is a fabulous place to live: you can come here, think up something you want to do, and be successful at it. But we've gotten fat and we've gotten lazy. So don't blame George Bush or Bill Clinton or any of the elected officials in Washington. A country gets the leaders it deserves, and when we're ready to rise from the ashes of a fallen empire, we will find the leaders to help us do so. It will happen, but not in 2008. We have to go through the Pluto transit first.

                                                   Reading Between the Lines

They say that the Pisces Moon is a sucker for a sad story, and right now, I'm pretty sure about the sucker part. The only difference is that the president's large convoluted speech to the world, under the New Moon in Pisces, refused to tell the sad part of the story -- more extortion, more war, more torture, more secrecy, more restriction of constitutional rights, and many other hard realities. It's not the time for grand visions of a green, prosperous, all-loving future, nor voyages back in history and forgotten eras. It's not the time for talk of America's returned greatness and magnificent leadership on the planet. We don't need window dressing and flowery speeches promising something that doesn't exist. We need truth and practical ways to cope with the economic disaster that has arrived. Truth about the continuing wars. Truth about what to expect.

Like caged birds, the people are hoping for this man to spring them from their trap while their life's savings disintegrate to nothing and the secure bottoms of their worlds disappear. I hope they're released before they forget how to fly.

The chart of the speech is interesting. You can see the Sun, Neptune, and the Pisces Moon in the theatrical 5th house indicating the American Idol combination religious tone of the evening while the crowd worshipped in waves as if in a sort of lost sea-faring vessel tossing about while the camera panned the crowd, tipping and tilting with the vagaries. The pasted on smiles and the strange manic "happiness" suggested the undercurrent of Piscean tragedy. The pleasurable talk about togetherness is most likely a concentrated effort by all the politicians to mask the degree of sickness, disorientation, and disintegration in the federal government as a whole. The show must go on.

All the planets are clustered in the second quadrant except Saturn, adding great weight to its importance and looking a lot like the box the people are trapped in, with this sole planet offering the way out. Reality is trying to surface but submergence in the 12th house makes it impossible just yet. The way out itself is trapped in the house of confinement. Quite a configuration, all leading magically to the next Saturn-Uranus opposition.

The stellium in the 4th house and the Cancer-Capricorn meridian speak of some temporary comfort, but also the parental problems the nation is experiencing now as she grasps the lifeline in the form of this man pleading for him to save them from the inevitable sinking failure. He doesn't have the power to accomplish that, being just one part of a complex, entrenched system. The obsessive behavior of the Pluto opposition to USA Venus is repeated here as the country struggles with dependency. The Aquarian factor with the North Node says that maybe some much-needed independence will come eventually as the Uranus cycle of oppositions concludes.

The South Node in Leo in the 10th indicates that the pop star approach to governance will not be successful. Something false is sensed and the predominate position of Saturn shows that unadorned reality and genuine sorrow need to be experienced, and will be in due time. Pluto in the 3rd shows the mental manipulation this man is so good at with his Moon in Gemini square Pluto, but also the possibility with the country's transits to Mars in Gemini, that the people can read through the lines, even if by means of Braille at this point.

But here's the really interesting part. With transiting Uranus square US Mars in Gemini, some cutting awareness is present, whether acknowledged or not, beyond the sentimental need of Cancer and Pisces for sugar-coating and fairy tale expectations. Uranus will soon oppose US Neptune and the fantasy world will continue to unravel with transiting Saturn looming in the shadows and headed back to US Neptune and Mars. The ruler of the 4th house, Saturn, is in the Neptunian 12th house of the speech chart, repeating the pattern, getting ready to receive the full moon in two weeks. Very interesting. Reality certainly does lurk. Of course, it could mean that we actually get some details about the plans for our country in exchange for platitudes. Dramatic speeches and public adoration are not going to be adequate to lead the country at this time.

Soon Jupiter will join Neptune for a climax of illusion, but here again, another interesting event occurs. The zenith of delusion could come with this conjunction but within the event, Saturn will turn around and go direct stepping up the reality factor all the way to US Neptune. Jupiter and Neptune will then both turn retrograde, leaving Saturn to lead the way to the next Saturn-Uranus opposition, and the next break from the government. If it goes well, the unhealthy adulation of the man and the way too high expectations will diminish to a more reasonable level, and the people would benefit greatly from that development, although it will probably take until Uranus leaves Pisces for the process to be completed. Releasing the exhausting pretense will free up energy. The realities are going to be recognized one way or another, and ideally a more mature relationship with the person will result.

In the meantime, the people are gradually awakening to an understanding of their plight and are preparing to endure in their own ways whatever difficulties are ahead. And they will, as always, regardless of the leadership.

When Is It Going To Get Better?

 Michael Lutin
Vanity Fair
Feb. 2009

Just one dollar. That's all I would need. Just one dollar for every time I've been asked that question lately and I could probably provide the stimulus package myself. How long, how many bumps and crashes and scrapes and whacks will it take before we actually see that the change that is actually happening, is not the change Barack Obama was promising everybody or even expecting himself during the campaign?

There are cynics who say that the new American President is merely one more puppet whose strings are yanked by power mongers who are amassing money so they can maintain control over the restless masses. There are some nut cases who swear Obama belongs to a race of reptilian space aliens infiltrating humanity in a clandestine takeover. Silly, of course. As he has always done, he is relying on other people. As noble as his aspirations may well be, at the moment he is the lead singer of the band, like Jim Morrison of The Doors. He is a symbol for everyone to project their fantasies on.

Astrologers see the whole thing differently. Whether you're an astrology fiend or a staunch non-believer, the fact is that astrology can provide a valid perspective concerning the current global economic and political situation.

No matter where you are coming from you have to wonder if the so-called stimulus package recently signed by President Obama is a positive step toward recovery or just a band-aid slapped on a mortal wound. From an astrological view, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, indicate that the life we have all been leading in the United States is over. It is not the end of the world. And there is nothing to be gained by running through the streets screaming or heading for the nearest window.

If the "stimulus package" is designed to bring back the old days, it ain't gonna happen. The old days are gone. This measure is in fact a positive action, and taking some action is vastly preferable to standing in the middle of the road while a huge truck is barreling toward you.

The real deal is something different. In this environment everybody has an angle. Everybody has an agenda. Everybody wants to beat out the competition. Everybody pitching an idea, a project or proposal, has something to gain from it, and motives are not completely humanitarian. The products and services that will make it through will be those that are the most useful, of high quality and durable so they survive the test of time. Any real solution to the crisis will be found in the fact that as Americans we change our life style and our orientation to the whole world.

What is going on in government now is an attempt to hook up to life support a system that has become utterly corrupt and perverted. The current planetary transits are witnesses to transformation, not renovation. We're not being asked to redecorate our culture. We're being told to overhaul it. We either develop a world consciousness and grow gracefully into a new role, or in the eyes of the rest of the world, we end up looking as preposterous and irrelevant as an aging Hollywood actor shot up with botox.

This is an inexorable process of evolution, one we've never seen in modern times, so naturally it's scary. The reason so many solutions seem not to be working, however, is that we are still at the end of major planetary cycles. Such a period can be agonizing, mainly because even if you do everything possible to stay stable, keep things as they are and try not to be swept away in chaos, attachment to what was turns out to be folly. It can be agonizing and frustrating because everything you try works for a little while than you're back where you were, hoping for a miracle.

Despite the claims of the new administration and the efforts on their part to put a rapid end to a crisis that has been long in coming, we are at the threshold of a volatile period in our history. Some people are going to get impatient, angry and desperate, and when that happens governments take stern measures to maintain order. The resulting open conflict is as inevitable at this time as it is frightening to contemplate, but it needs to be seen as a necessary part of the evolutionary process taking place.

It's ridiculous, therefore, to ask when things are going to get better. Things are already getting better. Awareness of a problem is the first step toward solving it, but we need to have a lot of faith now, not in the politicians, of course, but in the process of social evolution. It's easy to have faith when you don't need it, but over the next few years we will need to have faith even if there won't always seem to be a reason to have any. American resources are being stretched to the max and are going to be stretched much further, and more than they have never been challenged, but in reality, we have barely begun to tap into them.

                                                         Battle of the Budget

Feb. 26, 2009
Starlight News

Still riding high from his superb Not-Quite-State-of-the-Union performance a few nights ago, President Obama today put forth his budget plans. Needless to say, nothing galvanizes the Republicans more than Democrats wanting to spend money. Rumblings of the coming battle have already begun. In addition, Obama is in the process of putting forth his exit strategy from Iraq, an area that may well cause some sniper fire from the Left over the size of the residual force remaining, as well as from the Generals who want to remain for an untold number of years.

The astrological read on today’s political reality is very clear. Jupiter, the planet of optimism, success, and expansiveness is opposed to Obama’s Sun (12Leo33) from February 23 through February 28, accounting for his highly successful speech and the huge, optimistic reach of his plans. At the same time, Uranus is opposing his Mars (22Virgo35) during most of February through mid-March 2009, pushing him to creative, unexpected solutions to problems, putting him into a whirlwind of non-stop activity, and agitating fierce opposition. The battles are likely to intensify through mid-March with some unexpected attacks that may cause sudden changes in direction to the process.

Unfortunately, just as Jupiter’s benevolent influence begins to wane, Saturn moves to quincunx Obama’s Ascendant (18Aquarius03) from February 28 through March 12, followed by Saturn semisquare Obama’s Mercury (2Leo18) from March 10 to March 22. Here we see reality and obstructionism (Saturn) restraining the audacity and magnitude of Obama’s plans. Given that the Uranus transit opposite his natal Mars will be exact in mid-March, it seems likely that he will be increasingly aggressive in pushing his agenda while peeved, frustrated, and impatient with the likely obstructionism.

There is also a concern that these two Saturn transits may negatively impact Obama’s health during the first three weeks of March. This is not likely to be serious so much as an annoyance that slows him down somewhat. Following the Saturn doldrums, expansive Jupiter will briefly cross his Ascendant from March 22 through March 26, suggesting some very upbeat energy and successes towards the end of a difficult month.

It is also quite likely that despite the battles raging over the details of the various proposals winding their way through the halls of Congress, Obama’s popularity will be extremely high with the public from February 27 through March 9, 2009. In the composite chart drawn by using the midpoints between the positions in Obama’s chart and the US chart, there is an exact Moon/Neptune opposition (15Aries/15Libra). This describes the tendency of the people (Moon) to idealize (Neptune) Obama. Venus will make a station exactly on this composite Moon position (15Aries17) during these 11 days (2/27 to 3/9), intensifying the public’s very warm feelings and trust for their new president.

Obama’s extraordinary popularity and continued honeymoon with the public are indicated by the continuing solar arc progressed Venus conjunction to his Ascendant (18Aquarius03) that will be exact in June 2009 and his progressed Venus conjunction to progressed Uranus (28Leo10) exact in August 2009. These will be followed by a Jupiter station on his Ascendant from September 8 through November 5, again indicating a time of success, optimistic outreach, and possibly some significant and promising travel. Thus, President Obama’s exceptional approval ratings are likely to last until about November 5, 2009. As mentioned in previous posts, it is after this date, that a new wave of serious difficulties will begin, and Obama is likely to lose some of his luster, probably until the end of 2010 or the beginning of 2011.

                                                          The Fairy Tale Ends

Raging Universe
March 1, 2009

Pluto has reached the third degree and is preparing to station opposite Venus. We are in trouble. The present crisis is temporary but the trouble is not. There is a huge segment of the population reaching retirement age and if their funds don't come back, they will have to stay in the job market. Their children might be called upon to help them but where will their jobs be? Parents were hoping to leave them their own money. Unemployment is expected to rise significantly and the elders will need health care. So much is uncertain and profound struggle is ahead with the Aries (youth) - Capricorn (aged) square and the Cancer stellium. Generational conflicts are in the works but through them some of the changes so furiously desired should come. They'll have to.

The shock of our dire economic situation is cutting through the fantasy but that conflict will continue for awhile as Uranus leaves Pisces. The top might be accused of causing this, but it is certainly not going to be the cure. So awakening is in progress, destined to happen with the series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions. Uranus in Pisces is now exactly opposite US Neptune in Virgo, and awareness of the fairy tale promise of rescue has come.

Virgo is a sign which picks things apart. Pisces draws them together again. The zodiacal signs pass through developmental stages of increasing differentiation, reaching the outer limit in Virgo. Then the circle closes back in on itself, ending with a final amalgamation in Pisces. Realistic Virgo expects a paycheck for work well done, but visionary Pisces anticipates nothing less than a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

So which will it be? The clue lies in transiting Saturn in Virgo now, just about to receive the Full Moon and what appears to be a reckoning with critical reality. Something must be done. The rainbow is inaccessible at the moment. Analytical and exacting means must be employed. Grandiose schemes and visionary utopias will have to wait while the Virgoan details are attended to.

When Virgo becomes overcritical of others, the ultimate is a Piscean dissolution of relationships. Sooner or later, those who are disparaged by Virgo's carping remarks get into a Piscean swivet. They resist being ordered about by camouflaging themselves in a swirling mist of confusion.

So the gold and rainbow crowd is quarreling with the systems analysts. A disintegrating illusion is not always easy to bear. The critics are getting impatient. Mars is involved. And Saturn looms. Pluto digs into Venus. Markets fall. All is not exactly well.

To further complicate the Martian matter, Venus in Aries is turning retrograde exactly opposite US Saturn in Libra, thus the hard-edged debate often ending in cruelty and ejection. Authoritarian self-righteousness is rearing its head, not surprising with Pluto in Capricorn. The python's squeeze is here. The Piscean rainbow folks, who are supposed to be loving and accepting, are oddly judgmental so the opposition has things a little topsy-turvey. And feelings are being attacked because of another factor -- USA Sun in Cancer square the contentious opposition. Emotions are hot and sharp and everyone's right. There is a seriousness to these battles that was not there before probably as preparation for the coming Aries-Capricorn transit.

The Venus station on Saturn is bringing depression into the mixture, and the country with her Sun-Saturn square naturally leans toward sadness. People are down and worried. The country's got the blues. Trying to escape the feelings only stalls the solutions needed. And no one is sure anymore who to be angry with. So they're lashing out at who they can. Cashiers really get it in these times, accused by customers of anything. I remember it well.

This is the start of the nation's maturing process and growing pains are always part of it. Pluto-Moon-Saturn transits are the death of the parent in the psyche and that's what's forthcoming, so insecurity is at a high with people clinging hard to what they're familiar with. As Pluto progresses across the Cancer stellium, society will have time to acclimate and people will gradually find the comforts within to see them through. Genuine comforts to last beyond the years of learning and development ahead, along with the dignity of adult responsibility.

                                                                        POWER AND WEALTH

                                                                         A Metaphysical View

Some folks say that "the people" are angels of a sort that are going to save humanity from the darkness. I don't know why, since half of each day proceeds in darkness with great success. The center of the eye is dark.

This is incorrect. We are all people. We create our societies and governments together to fit the requirements of the time.
All of them are right. The commoners want to eat, have sex, make more people, watch TV, and die undisturbed. They didn't want the responsibility so they created the ruling class to get them their goods. Railroads, shipping companies, oil wells, manufacturers, etc., were built to help them live the lives they desired, and the suppliers became exorbitantly wealthy as pushers often do. Never mind as long as the common folk could continue unencumbered. Both sides take advantage of the other and together they make up the collective. Neither side is a victim.

"The people" are very similar in behavior to the rulers. Both sides have the same number of criminals. The same murderers, thieves, liars, cheats, and practitioners of cruelty. So overall, no one group is more deserving than the other.
Wealth is constantly in flux and moves in a rhythm of perfect maintenance. When too much moves in one direction, it eventually shifts to the other. At present, the elite have an excess as we know and the process of change is underway but
it will take time and struggle. And there is no guarantee that life will be better. No class has done well yet. Humans have
been remiss in creating good economic and political systems so far.

The problem in America now is Pluto in Capricorn and an unawareness in the leadership. Capricorn is constriction, so government spending with stimuli and big budgets won't work. Smaller government is the solution, and no amount of spending will make the wealth shift faster. It will gradually find its way to equity, maybe when Pluto crosses Aquarius, or when the time is right. Eventually the need for restriction will have to be recognized. There could be experimentation and failures along the way, but it will work out in time.

As ghastly as it might seem to some, part of the success will rest on the Republicans getting themselves together and being involved in the decision making process. That's what Pluto in Capricorn suggests. Their philosophy is also needed.
Let's take look at the current president's alignment with the status quo, and why it's the right thing for now and nothing to
be afraid of. First of all, the Moon conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn trine Saturn on election day says that the establishment won, as it should have with Pluto at 0. It's not time yet for change and progressive transformation has to have an order to work against. The president's Saturn in Capricorn is a rise within the system, learning its rules, playing its game, and finding recognition, acceptance, and status. Status quo. Capricorn. Simple. His South Node in Aquarius is leading him away from the commoners and that's why he was raised by a Moon-Mars in Capricorn woman who was a bank executive, rising slowly all her life in the established business world. He then married a Capricorn, a corporate lawyer. Are you seeing a pattern? It's his destiny which will work out when Pluto gets to his Saturn and it's good to understand this. What he does or does not do will have no effect on the outcome. We have a long list of leaders to go through before wealth distribution is changed, and the movement is determined by all of us, including the establishment.

There's no such thing as victory over evil dark forces. They remain as part of the whole. We work with, around, and next to them. People align where they will and everybody has both within. The danger of those who deny their own shadows and accuse others is equal to that of the shadow figures in the open. Life is both. Shadow and light. Positive and negative are
the two mighty forces that move energy in the universe.

So I suspect that there is not going to be any magic change. That comes over years and years as the earth transforms and she and her inhabitants adjust accordingly. The source of change is not human. We're part of a vast system that shifts with need, perhaps guided by cosmic forces, perhaps not. Power is probably evenly distributed throughout the entire system. The change being promised now is merely an advertising gimmick in view of the next election. The word is losing its meaning in the process. It's being mass produced and sold to all. Product on the shelf. At what price? Pretty high.

It all comes from the same source. The rulers come from us and reflect where we are now. We put them there. "The people." They won't change until you change, if that's what you desire. And still, wealth is in constant flux. No one keeps it.

The BS-o-Meter & the 29th Degree

MARCH 9, 2009

There are few indeed who, having passed through the previous eleven signs, are prepared to let everything
go in order to accept the gifts of Pisces. In Pisces, the evolving soul must renounce its reliance upon the approbation of society in order to prepare for a fresh start in Aries. Replenishment comes through relinquishment, triumph through surrender. The true Piscean senses that dependence on outer forms is futile
and that salvation must be sought within.

The Divine Astrologer

For a person or a collective to develop a functioning BS-o-meter they must go thru a period of humiliation and deep disillusionment. We want salvation from that. To most, disillusionment is so painful, so humiliating, so empty, that it is to be avoided at all costs - even tho it is sensed.

Pisces is the end of the wheel and here the native comes to understand the oneness of all experience, the futility of expecting things to be good without the accompanying bad, disillusionment, despair, and finally wisdom and the rebirth of new life with unlimited potential in Aries. One must go through the disillusionment first, though, and the 29th degree of Pisces is its deepest point. Yet even there, the awakening of hope, genuine hope, is already present. We are nearing the end of Uranus in Pisces and now, with Uranus opposite USA Neptune and the Full Moon conjunct Saturn at this point, a concrete step in the realization of our predicament has occurred, and will continue in increments until Uranus leaves. You can see that it isn't quite as bad as feared. Depression both economic and emotional are here, but within it lie the seeds for the Aries renewal. The letting go of the hoped for Promised Land and the disseminating of despair are the fertilizers. It will be natural. It's all in the cycle before the Aries spring of germination.
The BS-o-meter, the crapometer, the horseshit detector, the wiggling antenna of hipsterism, the mistrustograph - whatever you want to call it - is a useful device in navigating the waters of this treacherous and devious world. Of course, you can rely on others' meters to lead, but there you encounter the same problem. Who's going to detect their BS? Best to have one of your own. In order to get hep, become savvy, be schooled in cool, and to be reasonably wise, you have to go through the fires of first-hand experience and the hard knocks that accompany them. There is no better time than now.

The State of the Collapsing Union Address, for example, was an hour of BS. When it was broadcast that America was mighty and ready to lead the planet the needle flew off the meter, as it did when it was said, "It's not about the banks." It really doesn't matter. Like or dislike have little to do with it. What you're told, however, should be subject to some intense scrutiny before belief is incorporated, especially in these trying times and with intelligent, hyper-aware Saturn in Virgo. Marrying fact with circumstance is not as hard as it seems, especially when you use your good sense.

The battle between the blind faith of Pisces, and the criticism of Virgo is about to be revved up pretty high. There are an uncanny number of configurations involving the 29th degree just ahead. By the end the ability to detect deception should be greatly improved, even at the cost of some disappointment. This sensation simply can't be avoided but the rewards will be worth it. One day the wisdom will come that it's not these people who are in charge, it's the entire collective. It really doesn't matter who succeeds or who fails. We succeed as a whole. Here we are.

On April 12th, Venus retrograde enters the 29th degree for two weeks and turns direct. During that time Mars joins her, and they both enter Aries together. On May 2, 2010, Uranus comes to the 29th degree for a month, and while that's happening, Jupiter joins up on May 31. Onward they go to Aries in a duet. In July, just back from Libra, Saturn once again passes 29 Virgo just opposite. Jupiter meets Uranus at 29 in September one more time. A lot at the end of the line.

So reading the BS-o-meter can help achieve the shift desired. In preparation for leaving the saint-sinner-savior complex behind, the present worship will rise and fall like the waves. Although not consciously recognized, a step away from the redeemer attachment is occurring and will probably manifest through the series of influences ending at 29 Pisces. I don't think it's happenstance that the invasion of Iraq took place with the Sun at that degree, rocked in the Cradle of Civilization. The idea of a punishing almighty god, translates into almighty men as leaders, and who knows that we couldn't govern ourselves without them? Perhaps we could give it a try. Batteries in the meter help.

The 29th degree of Pisces has a tendency to bring out the apocalyptic in people, along with the idea of some rapturous entrance into a transformed earthly environment, especially when Uranus moves ahead for good in 2012. That's normal. End times and all. It's unlikely that any hugely radical world will be birthed in the next years, although the hope will go up and down, as reality slowly settles in. Pisces rules the salty sea, and a little grain of salt isn't a bad idea when entertaining these fantasies. Some alterations will probably come, but the world will be recognizable as the one you see today. And yes, Republicans will still be breathing. I think the dreams are good, though, as idea chests, as long as we accept the reality on the ground as it unfolds.

Along with these transits, we are leaving the Age of Pisces, so the Promised Land fantasy is looming ever more. The savior is melting into the crowd, as human and limited as the rest. I can't imagine what Pluto at 29 will be like. I'll be expecting a report from you in the netherworld, when you join me there. I'll keep paradise on life support in case you need it later.
