November 2007
And it’s all getting a bit hectic out there in the big wide world – November certainly brings incisive actions and clear decisions, even if results aren’t to many people’s liking. The brinkmanship of the early month gives way to sudden actions and decisions which impasses. The Scorpio new Moon on the 9th is square Neptune, suggesting last ditch attempts to further confuse issues pertaining as far back as 2003, notably about Iraq. But the Gemini full Moon on the 24th is hugely symbolic of hard endings in preparation for new beginnings. November is the final fuse being lit – December brings novelty.

Retrogrades
Both NEPTUNE and MERCURY stop going backwards at the start of the month, indicating straight away that November should have a lot better communicational abilities than those of recent months. URANUS continues retrograde through the middle of Pisces until the 24th, potentially surprising us all with dogmatic determinism, especially at the religious level. But the big news is that MARS stands still at 12 Cancer in November, affecting all Cancerians and Capricorns born from the 3rd - 5th of their months.
2007
2007 is set to be a different year for the planet and its inhabitants than those of recent yore. From an astrological perspective, 1999 to 2006 has been a time of compressed and concentrated intensity for most of humanity, escalating as time progressed and accelerating the evolutionary schedule, both personally and globally.
2007 breaks this chain of challenge. For many people, it will seem as if the difficulties and uphill struggles of the last years have brought them to a kind of plateau, where much of the recent intensity will stabilise, giving an opportunity to practice, focus, sharpen and hone the energies that have been foisted upon us since the total solar eclipse of 1999. As the immediacy and urgency of the last years fade, so new growths will become apparent.
Much of the recent confusion, deception and uncertainty of the last three years can be laid at the door of Neptune astrologically. Now that this influence is finally waning, the spotlight falls onto the sign of Sagittarius. With Pluto and Jupiter both firmly in that sign, issues concerning honesty, commitment, truth and integrity will become increasingly apparent as the year evolves, particularly at the political and financial levels. Many people have already turned to their own inner religion, or relationship with whatever they conceive to be the divine, as opposed to the dogma and ritual of orthodox religion. Religion will become increasingly fragmented over 2007, with an accompanying further upsurge in fundamentalism, as more and more people look for peace in and with themselves. In this context the coming year can certainly be seen as a great year for individual self-empowerment, as the Sagittarian desire for knowledge pushes to the fore.
The ongoing Saturn/Neptune opposition will continue to bring disharmony in the oil bearing countries, although during 2007 Jupiter will bring a greater degree of flexibility than previously experienced to these two planets, indicating that localised agreements should provide the basis for new futures in the region.
Jupiter in Sagittarius, which can be bombastic and exaggerative, comes under pressure from Uranus, the planet of change in Pisces, suggestive of movements in the depths. I suspect incidents and events involving the oceans will further highlight global warming, reinforcing the awareness of our delicate existence on planet. Consciousness enhancement and a growing awareness of our place in space and time are one of the potential outcomes of this almost electrical energy that is activating different people and environments over the coming year. In a world of increasing demands on natural resources, the unstoppable forces of socio-economic and population expansion will bring us in time to a crunch point where the levels of population will become unsustainable, with starvation, disease and unclean water the most likely suspects for crisis.
Another way of looking at the same pattern suggests an increase in technological know-how, especially in terms of energy consumption and generation. The technology to save the planet is there already: it is political and financial will that is not, and 2007 shows an increasing awareness from the common man of the capacity for individual influence. It may be that hydro and tidal power suddenly becomes the next big thing in terms of global energy demands; the astrological symbolism is in place for this to be the case.
The mid 60's saw the astrological beginnings of the social changes that have since that time swept the world. These influences accelerated in the late 80's, and again since 1999. The intensity of the current long term astrological patterns in the heavens suggests a time of transformation that has not happened for hundreds if not thousands of years, and recent years have been a test to see if we as a species can adapt to the increasing pressures and stresses of modern life. The period from 1999 to 2010 is seen as an astrological nexus point, transcendence from one perspective to another. In this context, 2007 is when we realise that we've got new tools, in our consciousness as well as the latest gadgets.
The total eclipse of the Sun in August 1999 was part of a Grand Cross pattern, the most challenging of astrological aspects. This Grand Cross, involving Saturn, Uranus, Mars and the eclipsed Sun, occurred at the cross-quarter points. These are the days of the year that are commonly associated with Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain. In August 2010 there will be another Grand Cross, this time involving the Sun, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. And this Grand Cross will be happening on the Solstice and Equinox points, some forty five degrees on from the Grand Cross of 1999.
2007 is a year where the benefits will be found more in the second half of the year than the first. Indeed, through to the end of July, there is still a degree of struggle, although not at the level of previous years. Some times (the middle two weeks of February, the last week of March and the first week of April, and the 11th to the 25th of September) are seen as difficult. Other times (mid-August, the first three weeks of October and particularly the third week of December) are seen as opportunistic and positive.
We are over two thirds of the way through this twelve year period of intensity which from an astrological perspective represents the crunch point for humanity and its futures. The decisions we take over the coming few years, both globally and personally, will resonate for many generations into the future. The concentration of planetary energy, originating in the early 60's, maturing in the 80's, escalating since the mid 90's and accelerating wildly since 1999 is at peak now. From our time reference, now means August 1999 - August 2010. This is not a drill. This is the final lead in to the prime time, the omega point that our lives and the lives of our ancestors have built towards. It is the time we have all been anticipating and fearing, knowing that we as individuals are being called to account for our honesty, conscience and integrity, and then being asked to move into a better future for every being on Planet Earth. Within our lifetimes, there will be an evolutionary leap the like of which we have not seen since Cro-Magnon man superceded Neanderthalis. The acceleration of population matches the acceleration of technology and spirituality, and now we're approaching prime vertical.
Do we collapse in on ourselves, as perhaps we did 12,500 years ago? Or do we move on beyond existing boundaries into a multi-dimensional future where the only limits are those of the imagination? The time lines are drawing in; the options are running out, the fences are coming down. Do we acquiesce to the dominators and become even more insane, contributing to the ruination of the earth, the domination of nature, the suppression of the feminine and other spiritually bankrupt policies? Or do we eliminate fear, guilt and the sanctions that the media, churches and governments/corporations have imposed on us, and move ahead into a cleaner world of our own making? A world unpolluted by power, secure in our sense of individuality, yet aware of our function, our space, our role in a society based on love, community, consciousness expansion, empathy and a sensuality and sensitivity to the environment. Because - and this is the big one - if these things are not a part of our future, what kind of future will it be?

2010 and the grand cross, but that's another story for later on....... UPDATE 01/12/04 More on 2010. It represents the entelechy of humanity. The time of realisation of potential, one way or another. Population enhancement, environmental degradation and cellular stress contribute to a schism time of parallel but opposite evolutionary chains. Time to move on, folks!
