The Prelude

As you enter The Chamber, you are met by a cloaked figure. He begins to speak:

"Greetings, my name is Krisznor. It is my duty to start you on your journey tonight through The Chamber. The first thing that I must tell you is to listen closely to all of those that you come upon. Each and every lost soul inside of these walls can help you, or hurt you.

You should also understand that you have reached a point where there is no turning back, for when you passed through that doorway, you surrendered your souls to us. They are now ours to keep if we so desire. It will be your job to try and win them back by pleasing the spirits.

But first, permit me to provide you with a bit of history so that you understand what you are about to experience.

For centuries, this area has been inhabited by an evil creature named Penntella. For many years, he lived on the very land where The Chamber now stands. Each night, after the hour of midnight, Penntella would roam the countryside looking for any living creature for his nightly pleasures. He would capture them and they would be tortured and eventually killed in his dungeon. One night, the townspeople banded together to end his reign of terror. They stormed his castle and took him prisoner. Penntella was tortured in his own dungeon and was left there to die along with the remains of his many victims. This land has been haunted since that fateful night. The legend says that the spirit of Penntella remains, seeking vengeance on all that dare to tread on his property.

You will not see him tonight, but he shall be watching you. He is waiting inside along with the lost souls of his many victims. They prey upon unsuspecting mortals such as yourselves. But you need not fear for your lives for they mean nothing to any of us. We want you for all eternity so you should fear for you souls.

At this time, I will ask for a representative from your group to point to one of the three stone tablets that you see hanging behind me."

You slowly lean forward and point to the second stone. Once again, Krisznor speaks:

"You have chosen the second one, and so you shall have it. But first I will wrap it in a silken cloth for you to carry it along to your next destination. The one that carries the stone shall now be the leader. You should be very careful because the tablet is very old and very fragile, just like many of the other items that we have here in The Chamber.

I wish for you to understand that although you had a choice of any of the three tablets, you should feel fortunate that you did not choose the first one. As you can see, upon it is written DEATH. We can only hope that your message is more positive.

Now it is time for you to go. But once again, listen closely to those that you come across. Only they have the power to release you."

CONTINUING THE JOURNEY...

You now proceed into the depths of The Chamber. You come across numerous unusual items as you venture through the hallways, including several lifesize creatures that stand motionless in the corners. You hesitate as you approach each one, passing by them with the feeling that you are being watched.

As you continue along, you are gripping the silken cloth that contains your stone tablet. Unsure of what lies ahead, you proceed slowly through the flickering light. You can feel the anticipation building inside of you with every corner that you turn. The stillness plays on your mind as you wonder what the spirits have in mind for you.

Although not a single creature moves, you have no idea if they are real or not. So you try to remain focused as you continue along, waiting for further instructions from the lost souls. You know that at some point, you will be challenged by someone, or something, as you attempt to regain your soul.

Although it has only been a few short moments, it seems that the intense feeling may go on forever. Then, as you pass through the narrow passages, you come upon a door.

You knock upon it. Nothing happens, but still you wait. Suddenly, the lights around you go out and the door slowly begins to open. Inside, you see nothing but a shadowy figure...

THE INITIAL TESTS...

The silence is broken by a deep, yet quiet voice:

"I have been waiting for you. Please step inside and gently close the door behind you.

My name is Incubus. I am the resident sorcerer of The Chamber. It is my job to contact the spirits to see if they wish to let you pass freely and leave here with your souls. Although this decision is not up to me, I have great influence over Penntella and the other spirits so it would be wise to listen closely to the things that I have to say.

One among you has already made a selection earlier in your journey. That person, who is recognized by the spirits as the leader of your group, possesses a clue to your final destiny. I command that the leader please step forward."

Incubus then asks for the stone tablet, which he places upon his altar. He brings out a small packet of Tarot cards, and one at a time he turns them face-up until the leader says for him to stop. Incubus informs the group that this selection, along with what is written on their stone tablet, will determine their fate.

First the stone is unwrapped to show that it is the symbol of The Devil. The leader is then asked to turn the Tarot card face-up for all to see, and it too is The Devil.

Incubus speaks:

"Throughout the many years that I have worked among the spirits of The Chamber, I have never witnessed a group of mortals with such unfortunate luck. The Devil travels with you and there is little chance of regaining your souls. But, if you wish, I have a test that I have prepared for an event such as this. Do you wish to try your luck again?"

Incubus brings out four small cards and he places them in a row upon his altar. He also presents a ring of gold, which he hands to you. Then he continues:

"You see before you four messages of destiny. You also are holding a ring of solid gold which represents eternity for it has no beginning and no end. It may be eternal life, or eternal damnation, depending how you view the situation. I ask that you simply place the ring upon any of the messages."

You placed the ring upon the message of your choice. Once again, Incubus speaks:

"I have attempted to assist you by stacking the odds in your favor. You see, in the majority of cases, your future is undetermined..."

Two of the unchosen messages are turned over to reveal that they are completely blank.

"Or you could have chosen wisely by selecting this as your fate..."

The final unchosen message is shown to read ETERNAL LIFE.

"But you have selected your ultimate destiny..."

Your selection is turned face-up to reveal the message of DAMNATION.

"It appears that there is no hope for you. But, we shall proceed nonetheless. If nothing else, the other residents of The Chamber may enjoy toying with you. "

Before he leads you to the upper level of The Chamber, Incubus opens an old box that contains four relics: a cross; a key; a stone; and a candle. You are given the choice of any of the four, of which you select the cross. He then gives you the final instructions before leading you to your next destination:

"You now possess a sacred relic, which shows that you come in peace and that you are welcome inside The Chamber. But it is important that you understand that you are to keep it from view until you are asked to reveal it. You will come upon a man named Davenport and he will ask you if you carry a relic. Simply tell him that you do, but do not tell him what it is and certainly do not give it to him, unless he specifically tells you to do so. But if he commands you to relinquish your relic, then you must surrender it immediately. Now follow me..."

THE UPPER LEVEL

You follow Incubus up the stairway into a small room with several chairs and a number of bizarre items. You see a young girl that sits quietly, playing with a Ouija board. She ignores all of you until Incubus speaks to her:

"Poison, please stop playing with your toys. Don't you see that we have guests? Stand up so that someone may have your seat."

Poison stands up slowly, without making eye contact and walks to the front of the room, where she paces slowly and methodically. Meanwhile, Incubus informs you that he will escort you to your next destination, but he must take one person at a time.

The other members of your group are taken, one after the other until you are left all alone with Poison. She finally looks up, glaring at you with deep black emotionless eyes. It seems like hours before Incubus returns. When he does, he tells you to follow him and he disappears through the curtains. Quickly, yet cautiously you pass through the doorway to follow him only to be met by complete darkness.

Suddenly, you hear Incubus calling:

"Come straight ahead and follow my voice. Carefully move forward and you will see a light ahead of you in the library. There you will join your friends. Please be seated in the last remaining chair.

I have done all that I can do. You are now on your own. Peace be with you."

Quickly, Incubus disappears back into the darkness that you have just passed through and all is still. But it takes only a few moments for a large hooded figure to begin to stir at the front of the library. You freeze in your seats as he rises and slowly walks to the bookcase. He reaches out and suddenly the entrance that you passed through just moments before is being closed off by heavy curtains. You now feel trapped inside the library.

THE LIBRARY OF DAVENPORT

Sitting in front of his glowing mantelpiece, the hooded figure begins to speak:

"Welcome to my library, I am Davenport. For over two centuries, I have been the trusted guardian of the many treasures here in The Chamber. In addition, it is also my responsibility to communicate with The Master to see if he wishes to accept visitors in his home, or if he prefers to punish them as trespassers.

First I must ask, does this group possess a relic as a sign that you came in peace? Do not tell me which item that you carry as of yet. First I must call upon Penntella in an effort to see if your presence pleases him."

Your hands clench tightly around the cross, hiding it from his view. As you shift nervously in the old wooden chair, Davenport slowly turns away from you and faces the mantel. With both of his outstretched at his sides, he cries out:

"Penntella, come to me with a sign. Shall these mortals pass freely and leave with their souls? Or are they to surrender their sprints to us when their human bodies cease to be?"

At that moment, there are several bright flashes of light that last for only a second or two. Suddenly Davenport spins around to face you and says:

"Penntella has spoken and he has informed me that you possess the cross. My master is not pleased with your presence and so you must give up your relic. Please place it in my hand. "

You are taken completely by surprise with the revelation of the cross by Davenport. Although you are shaken, you obey his instructions and surrender the relic to him.

He continues:

"Although The Master no longer has patience for you tonight, he will permit one final test. If you pass, you are free to leave and no harm shall come to you. But if you fail, your souls are ours to keep for eternity upon the time of your death. Shall we proceed?"

THE FINAL TEST

Davenport slowly walks to the curtains. Parting them, he beckons you to follow him. As you pass through the doorway, you find yourself frozen in a combination of confusion and fear. For the complete emptiness that you passed through just minutes ago on your way to the library has now been transformed into a room filled with furniture and artifacts. Across the room you see the outline of a woman. She is seated behind a sheer curtain and she begins to speak:

" Good Evening, my name is Spidella. I will be your final judge. My master has allowed me to give you one last chance at regaining your souls. The one that is the leader, kneel before me and kiss the spider."

You hesitantly move forward and then you slowly kneel before her. As she presents her gloved hand, you gently kiss the large spider jewelry that she wears. She begins to laugh as she pulls away from you and says:

"You foolish mortal. That will not save you, it merely entertains me."

She then rings a bell and Davenport enters the room. He prepares for the final test and then departs as Spidella explains what is to occur. Upon the table four inverted chalices have been placed along with a single crystal. You are chosen to select a chalice and to place the crystal underneath it while Spidella looks away.

Throughout the procedure, Spidella faces away from you and another member of your group covers her eyes with their hands.

Upon completing your task, Spidella turns around to face you once again. She looks deeply into your eyes and then she slowly begins to pass her hand over the inverted chalices.

"It appears that the odds are in your favor. After all, three of the chalices are empty and only one contains the crystal. If I select one of the three, you are free to leave and no harm shall come to you. But if the spirits lead me to the fourth, and I uncover the crystal, then you shall be damned for all eternity. Shall we play?"

She closes her eyes as she continues to concentrate on the chalices. An evil smile begins to appear on her face as she reaches down and lifts the proper chalice, revealing the crystal. Your souls are lost forever. Your journey through The Chamber has come to an end.

It was actually the only one I could find that I could link to!  I was disappointed by what was out there!  I'll keep looking.
