I understand full well that people like to have a bit of fun, but what exactly are we glorifying here?  It seems to be the dead returning to the earth, for a night and a day.

I don't see that as a good thing. And if the veil between life and death actually is a bit thinner on that day, it might explain why things tend to get, and feel, a bit weird.

God Bless,

For some of us it is an important day.  As a Spiritualist, it is the night when the Veil is the
thinnest and we may better communicate with our "dearly departed".

It may be weird to you, but it is important to us who believe in the survival of the soul and
that those we love are still with us.

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday.  Part of me loves the commercialism from it, another part wishes we would get in touch more with the essence of what Halloween actually is.

Wouldn't it be great if the veil between life and death was lifted on this one day and everyone could communicate with the dead?  I don't find anything strange about that at all, and I think it would put a whole new spin on the holiday.

Anyone care to talk about how they spent their Halloween?

I watched a ghost story on a Canadian station.....

In my town all the kids dress up and go downtown from store to store and collect loot.  When I had my store I always dressed up as a witch and gave out little toys like glow in the dark snakes and spider rings and frogs and stuff.... Then they all go to a street party that's 3 blocks long and have a great night.

Sounds like you had some pretty cool Halloweens when you had your store Rockessence.

I handed out candy at my house. I must have had thirty or forty kids. Teenagers go trick or treating now!  One girl asked me, "where's your costume?"  I told her I am not a costume kind of guy. Another woman took my picture when I handed candy out to her kid at the door.  I thought that was weird.  All in all, it was a pretty cool night.  I used to go to some Halloween parties, but I like to keep my Halloweens a little more low key these days.

Trent,

Halloween is the only thing I miss about not having my store anymore..... it was so fun.  I would hand out about 4 gross of toys....  That's more than 500 kids!!

You know I was thinking, maybe the mom was taking pics to record who was giving what to the kids.... paranoid?

Halloween is obviously a liberal's holiday. The idea of one day a year where people dress up, go door to door, begging for handouts, that obviously is something that emerged from the mind of a liberal.

Halloween really came and went too quickly this year.  Oh, well, if people are anything like me, the crummy economy has really put a damper on a lot of things.

People dress up, they go out for candy, have lots of fun, and play Halloween games.

What's the problem ?
