Thorwald C. Franke comments on the Crete-Atlantis hypothesis. He does not mention the eons in which we can identify Atlantis. He calls the Cretans entirely in tradition Minoans instead of Philistines who were the enemies of Israel. He mentions Zeus who according to the myth was born on Crete. A strange myth because Zeus was not human. But nowhere do both Franke and Cultraro mention the idol Dagon who was the god of the Philistines. We read about this Dagon in 1 Samuel 5 and Judges 16. He was the Hebrew variant of Poseidon. After all, according to Franke, Titan Atlas and King Atlas of Atlantis were two different creatures. This is still the question. I think they were the same characters but at least they were masks of each other and had the same demonic nature. Both Titan and King Atlas had no human ancestors. They were demons and creatures just like Poseidon. If you want to identify Atlantis you will first have to look at the twin kings. They were not humans and so you cannot approach Atlantis in an archeological way. finally I miss both storylines of Atlantis and Athena in Franke's argument. And where is the role of Plato's idol Academos in the argument?

What both are trying to say is that Crete is a "type" of Atlantis. With an enemy in the making for Israel, namely the Palestinians. The evolution of Atlantis has to do with enmity towards Israel. It is a pity that the two gentlemen did not notice the connection with Gaza and Goliath, or with the Ugaritic Baal and Anath Cycle. Gaza was a colony of Crete where the Philistines built five cities, analogous to the five twin kings of Atlantis. In the Ugaritic Baal Cycle, dagon got a new place next to Yam and Baal Tsafon. It also seems that Sidon was a colony of Sidonia on Crete. Sidonia is now called Chania and is a tourist town. It's a shame Franke and Cultraro didn't mention these things. But yes, that's what you get if you only approach the relationship between Crete and Atlantis from an archaeological point of view.
