Crisis on Infinite Earths Showrunner Teases Unannounced Cameos
This Sunday, The CW will premiere the first installment of Crisis on Infinite Earths and finally reveal what Arrowverse architects have been cooking up for the last year. Spaced out across five episodes, the crossover unites the stars of every major Arrowverse series, plus a wide assortment of actors and actresses reprising the DC roles they played several years ago. Tom Welling (Smallville), Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series), and Ashley Scott (Birds of Prey) are just a few of the names scheduled to make appearances, But apparently, the producers are keeping a few other characters close to the vest until the event’s proper debut.

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim discussed the crossover at length during a recent interview with IndieWire. When asked if we can expect any other surprise cameos, he dropped a pretty big bombshell on fans.

“I like how there are at least six characters who appear in the first three hours that we haven’t announced,” said Guggenheim. “And I’m working on even more for the last two hours. So we’ve obviously announced a bunch, but I really want the audience to be able to tune in and still be surprised. So there are surprises of sorts that we’ve managed to keep secret, and not without great difficulty, I will tell you.”

Guggenheim also commented on his recent tweet hinting that they considered having Nicolas Cage join Crisis as well. Cage was famously attached to play Superman in Tim Burton’s unmade Superman Lives film in the late ‘90s. And although the crossover already features three Clark Kents, Guggenheim confirmed that they did send Cage an invitation.

“We did reach out to Nic Cage,” noted Guggenheim. “I’ll tell you one thing, we reached out to a lot of people, and there were people who didn’t want to do it. There were people who would only do it for amounts of money that we could not ever afford. And there were other people who really wanted to do it, but couldn’t for scheduling. That was the case with a lot of, I have to say, the movie stars that we reached out to. The thing about movie stars is, they’re all shooting movies. And unless those movies are shooting in Vancouver, we’re kind of out of luck. But I have to say that the sheer number of actors that we did end up getting exceeded my expectation.”

Crisis on Infinite Earths kicks off on Sunday, December 8 with an episode of Supergirl. Which characters do you think will make surprise appearances during the crossover? Let us know in the comment section below!
