Breaking: Kevin Feige & Marvel WILL Produce Next Spider-Man Movie!
According to Variety, the stalemate between Sony and Walt Disney Pictures over Marvel Studios’ involvement in the next Spider-Man movie has ended! The two studios released a joint statement saying that Kevin Feige will indeed produce the followup to the well-recieved Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home alongside Sony’s Amy Pascal. As part of the deal Spider-Man will also appear in yet another future MCU film!

The trade also noted that the third Spider-Man film from Marvel Studios is set for a July 16, 2021 release, officially adding another addition to the already crowded Phase 4 release slate. The release date puts the film in direct competition with Paramount’s Mission: Impossible 7, which opens on July 23, 2021. Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings opens on February 12, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens on May 7 and Thor: Love & Thunder opens on November 5, 2021, making 2021 the fist year we get FOUR MCU movies!

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said Feige. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

While Sony has two more Spider-Man movies in the works, Jon Watts, who directed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home, has apparently not signed on yet for the two future movies. Watts is being courted for other projects (including, reportedly, for Marvel Studios), so there is no guarantee the director will return for a third Spider-Man movie, despite previously reporting that he was signed on for two more.

Sony’s upcoming slate includes the Venom sequel, starring Tom Hardy and directed by Andy Serkis, as well as Jared Leto’s in-the-can Morbius, a Kraven the Hunter film, and a spinoff featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat.

Spider-Man: Far From Home
Tom Holland and Zendaya Respond To New Spider-Man MCU Deal
Marvel fans got huge news this morning when it was announced that Sony reached a deal with Marvel Studios to produce a third Spider-Man film. That’s gotten a lot of positive responses on social media – and the stars of the series didn’t hold back on their thoughts.

First up was Tom Holland, who’s played the iconic character since Captain America: Civil War back in 2016. He chose to let a film clip do the talking, from The Wolf of Wall Street. In it, Leonardo DiCaprio expresses, in full not-safe-for-work glory, that he’s “not f***ing leaving.” It’s followed by applause. The video post is below. Co-star Zendaya also posted a response, complete with laughing-till-crying faces.

Speaking of Zendaya, she had her own response on the matter as well. She took to Twitter and also let a picture do the talking, with a dancing Spider-Man.

More than likely, fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe cast members should have their responses soon. Fans may recall that both Ryan Reynolds and Jeremy Renner were quite vocal about Marvel and Sony not reaching a deal last month.

The third MCU Spider-Man film will follow the events from Far From Home. By its conclusion, Peter Parker found himself in a world of trouble following a surprising revelation. It’s available on Digital HD now, and it will hit 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray on October 1. Spider-Man’s next movie will hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

Bob Iger Says New Spider-Man Deal Ends the Sony and Disney Feud

Bob Iger Says New Spider-Man Deal Ends the Sony and Disney Feud

It’s been wild month since Sony pulled Spider-Man out of the MCU over a contract dispute with Disney/Marvel. For a few weeks, Sony seriously seemed to be willing a third Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland without any MCU connections. However, a new Spider-Man deal has been signed that will keep Holland in the MCU for at least one more solo film as well as an appearance in another Marvel movie.

Disney CEO Bob Iger responded to the new deal on Twitter, where he thanked Sony for sharing Spidey. He also declared an end to the Disney and Sony feud.

Disney-Sony @SpiderMan feud ends. Kevin Feige to produce sequel!!!

This certainly warms my heart! Thank you @Sony!

The Spider-Man standoff was widely believed to be over money. Under the previous terms, Disney and Marvel only received 5% of first dollar gross from Spider-Man films. Disney reportedly wanted as much as 50% of the profits in a 50/50 co-financing deal. In turn, Sony wanted to maintain the original terms of the deal.

However, the new Spider-Man deal does give Disney a larger share of the box office. Sony still gets 75% of the film’s take, while Disney will get 25% and contribute 25% of the budget. But this may be only a temporary solution to a long term issue. It remains to be seen what Sony and Disney will want after the current deal expires.

Sony and Marvel’s next Spider-Man film will hit theaters on July 16, 2021.

Do you think this is really the end of the Sony and Disney feud over Spider-Man? Let us know in the comment section below!
