Does Daenerys die in the Game of Thrones series finale? That’s one of the burning questions fans are wondering now that the HBO series is over.

It’s not the ending fans of Daenerys Targaryen wanted. It’s been a brutal season for fans of the Mother of Dragons, who saw her descend into full-blown Mad Queen territory last episode when she torched King’s Landing and slaughtered thousands of women and children with Drogon’s fire.

After that, it was pretty clear the fate of Daenerys, which led to a lot of hostility, anger and resentment from Thrones fans who wanted the entire season re-written because it was such blasphemy and totally out of character.

5 ways the Game of Thrones finale went
terribly wrong

Ultimately, Dany became drunk with power, just as her father, the Mad King, who wanted to burn them all, before Jaime Lannister plunged his sword into his back, ending his reign of terror. That was the same way Dany was going to rule. While Jon had the love of the people, Dany had to use fear, and it’s what was her undoing.

Dany died in the Game of Thrones series finale.

Even worse, it was Jon Snow who was the one who killed her. It hurts to even type that. I don’t think this would have happened to Dany if Jorah and Missandei were by her side before the Battle at King’s Landing. But after she did what she did, there was no going back, and Jon knew what was necessary for the good of the realm.

Jon killed her with a dagger into her belly. She died almost instantly. She wanted Jon to be with her and break the wheel together. He tried to talk sense into her, but her vision for what was good didn’t coincide with Jon or the rest of the realm’s vision. He plunged the blade into her after kissing her and saying she was his queen now and always. Then, Drogon burned the Iron Throne to nothing and scooped her up and flew off.

For fans who hoped of a happy ending with the two wedding, having a child(ren) and ruling on the Throne together, they’re left to cry and wonder what could have been if not for David Benioff and D.B. Weiss writing a crap final season.
