Kick-Ass 2 Director Signs On For Danger Girl Movie Adaptation
Fans of 90’s comics may remember Danger Girl. It continues to be a fun comic series that features Abbey Chase, an agent in battle with the dangerous Hammer Syndicate. If not, however, you’re about to get a fresh introduction, as she’s due for the big screen.

Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the project is in the works at Constantin Films. Jeff Wadlow, who previous directed Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare and Kick-Ass 2, has signed on to helm the project. Constantin’s Robert Kulzer, JB Pictures’ Jeremy Bolt and Prime Universe Film’s Adrian Askarieh will serve as producers. Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce, alongside Danger Girl creators J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell.

The film will once again follow Chase, along with her fellow operatives Sydney Savage and Natalia Kassle. Though details about the story aren’t available just yet, the Hammer Syndicate is likely to resurface with some form of nefarious scheme.

Umair Aleem has already written the first draft of the Danger Girl script, though Wadlow will perform rewrites.

The original Danger Girl comic first came out in March 1998, and still runs strong today. It has some cult status among its fans, and also had its own PlayStation game available in the year 2000 by THQ. So it seems like a big-screen adaptation is long overdue. No word yet on who Wadlow and his team have in mind for casting just yet. Hopefully we’ll see characters such as Deuce, Secret Agent Zero and Johnny Barracuda pop up as well.

Before he can work on this new project, Wadlow will finish up work on Blumhouse’s adaptation of the 80’s series Fantasy Island. It’s in post-production now and set to release in February 2020.

Danger Girl doesn’t currently have a release date, but we’ll keep you posted on what Constantin Films announces.

Are you happy to finally see Abbey Chase and company on the big-screen? Let us know in the comments below!
