WARNING: This post contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 1.

Of all the reunions between long-lost Game of Thrones characters, the one between Arya Stark and Jon Snow was probably the most highly anticipated. Last time they were together was in Season 1, when he gave her a sword (now known as Needle) as a parting gift before he left for the Night's Watch. From that single, sweet scene, we learned how tight Arya and Jon's bond really is. At a young age, tomboyish Arya clashed with her ladylike sister Sansa, but she looked up to her "half brother" (actually cousin) Jon. After watching these characters spend so many seasons apart on GoT, finally seeing them together was especially heartwarming.

The first time Arya sees Jon is when he rides into Winterfell with Daenerys Targaryen, her armies, and a number of her allies. She's waiting outside castle grounds with other townspeople so she can watch him make his return. She brims with total joy when she sees him-and that alone is enough to make us watery-eyed.

However, the true reunion happens later on in the episode, as Jon is visiting a weirwood tree. Arya sneaks up behind him. After a quick exchange of words, she jumps into his arms (just like she did in season 1!).

When they embrace, Jon looks close to tears, which is rare, even for the ever-brooding Jon Snow.

He notices she still has her sword, Needle, and asks her if she's ever used it. (LOL, Jon if you only knew.) "Once or twice," Arya responds. She even takes a look at Jon's Valyrian steel sword, Longclaw.
