Carol Danvers Battles a Skrull in the First Captain Marvel Clip

Brie Larson stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week to plug next month’s Captain Marvel. In addition to showing off her dance moves and discussing how she got into shape for the role, Larson premiered the first clip from Marvel Studios’ first offering of 2019. You can check out the new footage via ComicBook.com below.

The new clip appears to serve as a continuation of the scene glimpsed in the film’s trailers where Carol Danvers discovers a Skrull posing as an old woman on a train. When the clip starts, the two combatants have taken their fight to the train’s roof. Even though Carol clearly struggles to maintain her footing, one can’t help but be impressed by her resolve. Following in the footsteps of Spider-Man 2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron, the scene proves that trains will always be good sites for high-octane fight sequences in superhero flicks.

Of course, Carol isn’t without her backup. The clip also notably features Nick Fury and Phil Coulson trying to keep up with the train in their car. Captain Marvel’s mid-’90s setting allows the film to explore the origins of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents’ partnership. And watching the black-suited spies give chase endows the movie with the era-appropriate feel of a buddy cop vehicle. Plus, MCU fans will be happy to see Coulson after he met his demise (again) on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The series’ latest trailer hinted that the character might not be dead after all. But nevertheless, it’ll be exciting to revisit Coulson in a way we haven’t seen before.

Captain Marvel flies into theaters on March 8. You can share your thoughts on the new clip from the movie in the comment section below!

Avengers: Endgame Directors Talk About Captain Marvel’s Powers

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors About Dealing With Captain Marvel’s Powers
Avengers: Endgame Directors Talk About Captain Marvel’s Powers
As the release of Avengers: Endgame approaches, fans are still speculating about Captain Marvel‘s role in the film. Will Thanos still be a threat to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with Captain Marvel on their side? Joe and Anthony Russo have thought a way to deal with the issue about Carol Danvers’ powers. They recently spoke with CinemaBlend about the subject, and revealed that they will bring more of Carol’s humanity to the screenplay:

“It’s always a concern of ours about overpowering characters, because the reason that people relate to these characters is their humanity, and that they’re flawed,” said Joe Russo. “And the reason we love working so much with Captain America was that he was limited, and his heart was his superpower, you know? So we’re all acutely aware of the dangers of having an overly powerful character. [But] we like sensitive storytelling, so… we found a thoughtful way through it.”

Captain Marvel will cast more light on Carol’s powers when it hits theaters on March 8. Carol is said to be one of the few who could lock horns with Thanos and live to tell the tale. However, the Russo brothers seem more excited about exploring her character than her powers.

“That’s what kind of fires us up, I think, on a storytelling level, to be honest with you,” said Anthony Russo. “Because when you do have powerful characters, you have to work that much harder to find their vulnerabilities and complexities. And Joe was mentioning on a storytelling level… and keep the stakes high! Because that’s where those characters are vulnerable. And actually, that makes for great drama, and you run in that direction. As storytellers, that’s been one of the most fun things we’ve had working with these characters is figuring out ways into them where they are vulnerable and they aren’t all powerful.”

Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters on April 26. What do you think about the Russos’ approach to Captain Marvel? Let us know in the comment section below!

Marvel Unveils a ’90’s Themed Captain Marvel Website

Marvel Unveils a ’90’s Themed Captain Marvel Website
The release of Captain Marvel is just a few weeks away, and Marvel Studios has launched the film’s official site. It’s a complete throwback with flashy fonts and overly busy backgrounds. Basically, it’s a lot like the GeoCities and Angelfire sites from the ’90s. Of course, the nostalgia trip isn’t the only surprise waiting for fans.

Inquisitive fans have a lot to discover, if they poke around on the site. For example, the “top-secret” Nick Fury section has nothing available to read. But there are two gifs that fans can download. One shows Fury petting Goose the cat, and the other features the future S.H.I.E.L.D. agent nodding his head. Strangely, there is also a guestbook, but it doesn’t allow users to sign it. The site also allows fans to buy tickets for the film.

Additionally, there is an interactive quiz that challenges people to identify shape-shifting Skrulls. The quiz implies that there might be more alien invaders on that train than previously assumed. Of the eight available choices, four are Skrulls. That includes the old lady that Carol Danvers punches in the trailers and promotional clips. The site also plays into the paranoia caused by the Skrulls’ arrival on Earth with the following description.

“Shapeshifters who live among us? Posing as grandmothers, small children, or even your friends? How can you tell and what can you do when confronted by this menace? Take the test and PREPARE YOURSELF for the coming events!!!”

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8. What do you think about the film’s throwback website? Let us know in the comment section below!
