Elisabeth Moss May Star in Universal’s Invisible Man Reboot
Universal’s dreams of a shared cinematic universe may have died with Dark Universe, but the monsters will never die! Variety is reporting that a new Invisible Man reboot film is in the works. Additionally, The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss is in negotiations to headline film.

Variety’s story doesn’t indicate who Moss would portray in the film, but it does state that Johnny Depp is no longer playing the Invisible Man. Upgrade director Leigh Whannell is writing and helming the reboot.

Moss is best known for starring in Mad Men and Top of the Lake, in addition to her current series, The Handmaid’s Tale. Moss’ theatrical credits include Girl, Interrupted; The Missing; High-Rise; The Seagull; and Queen of Earth. She will also have a leading role in Us, Jordan Peele’s follow up to Get Out.

H. G. Wells’ The Invisible Man debuted as a serial in 1897. It proved to be a very influential sci-fi literature and inspired films, TV shows, and comics. Universal’s first Invisible Man movie was released in 1933, with Claude Rains as the titular character. The film inspired several sequels, including The Invisible Woman. In 2000, Kevin Bacon starred in Hollow Man, a contemporary take on Wells’ classic tale. That was the last major movie based upon or inspired by the original story.

Who do you think Moss will play in the Invisible Man reboot? Should this film be about an Invisible Woman? Share your thoughts and theories in the comment section below!
