The curious spiny mammals had ended up drunk after sampling a bottle of eggnog that someone had dropped.
According to reports, police officers were called to the scene after members of the public discovered the intoxicated animals slumped next to the bottle in a children's play park on Sunday.

It is believed that the hedgehogs had come across the leaking bottle and had decided to try sampling its contents - a move that had evidently left them a little worse for wear.

Rather than leaving them vulnerable in the field, officers opted to bring the pair to a local zoo where they have since been sleeping off the worst hangover of their lives.

In wake of the incident, authorities have reminded residents that it is illegal in Germany to drink alcohol near children's play areas and that it is important to always pick up any litter that gets dropped.

As for the hedgehogs - it is likely to be an experience that they won't be forgetting in a hurry.
