Tonight, I came home after a long wait at the DMV to find my dog Robbie, who had been sick laying still on the floor. I moved him to his bed and he died a short time later.  Robbie was one of two rescue dogs I got shortly after Candy died in July, 2016, the other being his sister Athena. I only had him a year, but in that year, I fell in love with the little guy for his stubbornness, his bad temper, his willfulness, I could tell he'd had an awful life

Not much is known about his early life. His birthday is listed as 7/12/09, but he acted much older than eight. I'm thinking twelve is more like it. He was left behind with his sister at a house in Portage, WI, his family had simply moved on and not taken the dogs. He rode home on my lap the night I got home from the shelter. At the time, I thought he was mild-mannered, but I was wrong. Whatever happened between them, he always hated his sister, in fact, he didn't like any other dogs. He parked himself in the kitchen, growled when any dogs tried to pass...

Almost immediately, the health issues started. Robbie was plagued by seizures and shortness of breath. He lived out in the kitchen, sneak into my room to sleep, be near me when the other dogs went to bed. I always used to feed him first so he felt more important. He seemed to be recovering from his illness, but then took a turn for the worse, running all the way down in a matter of two days. In the end, like Candy, a heart attack probably killed him. Like Candy, he had a sad life. Be at peace, Robbie, you deserved much better than what life had in store for you, I hope I brightened your life just a little bit. I already miss the little fellow who used to live in my kitchen.

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.
So sorry about the great loss of little Robbie.
