Russian robot can shoot guns with both arms

Russia's deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has insisted that the new robot is 'not a Terminator'.
With its human-like appearance and pistols in both of its hands, you may be forgiven for thinking that F.E.D.O.R. ( Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research ) is a little bit too similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger's unstoppable killing machine from 'The Terminator' movie franchise.

According to recent Tweets from the Russian government however, the robot is actually designed for use aboard the International Space Station and its guns are simply part of preliminary testing.

"Robot platform F.E.D.O.R. showed shooting skills with two hands," wrote Rogozin. "We are not creating a terminator but artificial intelligence which will have a great practical importance."

When it finally goes in to space in 2021, F.E.D.O.R. will be tasked with performing service work and will even be able to continue operating when nobody else is on board the station.

The first flight of Russia's Soyuz replacement, the Federation, will also be piloted by the robot.
