" There are a few websites stating that the Loch Ness legend was born after the Humber Monster, but this is false. They are going off the time when 'Nessie' was brought to worldwide attention in 1933 (the first recorded sighting 'on land').  The legend of an aquatic beast in the River Ness has technically been around since the tale of St. Columba coming across it.
