Knowing how to clean Playstation 2 Slim lens will allow you to keep your PS2 Slim working longer and increase its life expectancy. Cleaning a Playstation 2 Slim is different than cleaning a regular PS2. The process is typically faster due to the PS2 Slim's small size.
To clean a Playstation 2 Slim lens, you will need:
Flathead screwdriver
Phillips screwdriver
X-acto knife
Cotton swab
Turn the Playstation 2 Slim over to access the bottom. You'll notice six small square screw covers. Pry these off with a flathead screwdriver and remove the screws underneath with a Phillips screwdriver. Place the screws and screw covers in a plastic bag to avoid losing any while you work.
Lift off the bottom cover of the PS2. To clean the Playstation 2 Slim lens you'll need to remove this bottom cover. If it does not lift off, check for any stickers holding it in place. Peel off the sticker or cut through it with an x-acto knife.
Wipe off the PS2 Slim lens with a Q-tip. Do not press too hard and make sure the Q-tip is clean and dry. Lightly spray a can of compressed air over the inside components of the PS2 Slim. Avoid hitting the lens directly with the stream of compressed air as this can fog it over and cause problems during game play.
Allow the PS2 slim to dry. Wait 30 seconds to ensure the compressed air has fully evaporated and then replace the PS2 Slim cover. Reinsert the screws and tighten, then cover with the screw covers. Push down to pop the covers back in place.
If your PS2 Slim is new, you do not want to clean the lens. Opening the case and breaking the sticker will void its warranty. If you experience problems during game play, call the manufacturer and ask for assistance. The company can advise you on troubleshooting procedures that will not void the warranty. For major problems, the company may offer to repair or replace your PS2 Slim for free.
