Screen test of original make up for Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. They bet on the wrong horse. (joblo.com)

An even worse move was the studio decision to cut all of this company's hard work out of the remake of The Thing and go completely digital.

Another Test Reel Featuring An Early Design Of SPIDER-MAN's 'Green Goblin' Emerges
What were they thinking? Here's another video showing the mixture of animatronics and make-up effects which would have brought a far more faithful version of Green Goblin to life in Sam Raimi's 2002 movie, Spider-Man. Check it out!

With any luck, The Amazing Spider-Man sequel (which many fans believe will feature the 'Green Goblin') will take some cues from the incredible work done by 'Amalgamated Dynamics Incorporated' on the iconic villain for the original 2002 Spider-Man movie. While we've already seen a test video featuring their efforts to bring the character to life on the big screen - with an appearance far more faithful to the comic books than the one eventually used in Sam Raimi's movie - this footage offers an even more revealing look at how they went about doing just that. What do you think about this version?

The Rejected Green Goblin Make-Up Tests from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man

What if Sam Raimi wanted his Green Goblin to look more like an actual monster, and less a man in a mask? Then Willem Dafoe would have looked a lot like this. These clips of the rejected make-up tests for Raimi's Spider-Man are scary... but not necessarily in a good way.

Released by Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc., these videos show a very different version of the first Spider-Man movie's villain. We can kind of understand why it would have been hard to mutate Norman Osborn's face and then switch him back to a man (with the way the script is written). But, we have to admit that makeup is pretty bad ass. Well done
