‘The Walking Dead’: AMC Releases Season 6 Stills — Has Daryl Dixon Been Bitten?
Rachel Tsoumbakos

AMC has just started releasing exclusive photo stills from season 6 of The Walking Dead. The images show some of the characters doing average, everyday things, all with varying looks of concern on their faces. More than one picture however, is kind of disturbing.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers about the season 5 finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead. If you have not viewed up to, and including, this episode, please proceed with caution.

Entertainment Weekly released an image of Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln). Rick is sitting on a porch, gun in hand and arm across his knee. While he could just be resting, the bloody footprint indicates he may have just been involved in bloodshed. The sun is setting (or perhaps it is early morning?), and Rick appears to have partially healed wounds on his face, possibly from his scuffle with Pete (Corey Brill) in season 5 of The Walking Dead. He also has some stubble, so this image is some time after the events that occurred in the season 5 finale. The second image comes from TV Insider. This image displays Michonne (Danai Gurira) and her katana. The weapon is hanging above the mantle where she placed it in the season 5 finale before Pete took it and lopped off Reg’s (Steve Coulter) head. Michonne is standing in front of the katana, looking at something off camera. She appears quite concerned about whatever is there. The whole image is set in shadows, so it must be late in the day as the sun seems to be shining in over her. You can view TV Insider’s exclusive image of Michonne in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

Welcome to the first of the disturbing images of season 6. The third image is from The Hollywood Reporter and is showing Carol (Melissa McBride) washing the dishes. Except the knife she is washing and holding up to the light is enormous and has a knuckle duster handle. Carol is still wearing her grandmother-like disguise and it seems to be the same time of day as the image of Rick. You can view The Hollywood Reporter’s exclusive image of Carol in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

People magazine has released an image of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). He is tinkering with his new motor bike as evening approaches. Except he is using a rag to wipe blood off his hand. Has he been in a fight with someone? Or has he been bitten? Perhaps that why he appears to be lost in thought. You can view People’s exclusive image of Daryl in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

Mashable released an image of Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) showing the character with gun in hand and looking off to one side. Two people are seated in front of him and there is a table loaded with weapons between them. Neither of these characters are instantly recognizable as regular characters. You can view Mashable’s exclusive image of Glenn in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

TV Guide released an image of Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan). She is standing in front of a mirror looking at herself putting her gun away. While this image shines a yellow light on Maggie, the view out of the window indicates broad daylight, the only image so far to do so. You can view TV Guide’s exclusive image of Maggie in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

The final image is possibly the scariest. It was released via The Wrap and shows Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) standing in front of a group of walkers approaching. What is disturbing about this image is the fact that Sasha has her back turned to the oncoming walker threat and doesn’t seem overly concerned. She does, however, look prepared, so maybe she is just trying to lure the walkers closer before she attacks? You can view The Wrap’s exclusive image of Sasha in season 6 of The Walking Dead here.

All of the images released appear to be have been taken late in the day, perhaps indicating a major conflict will occur late one day and into the dark of night? With Greg Nicotero recently claiming a time jump at the start of season 6, perhaps this is what these images allude to? Only time will tell.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC with season 6 on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
