But is that not a contradiction, because if only domestic animals were taken on board then every known Animal would have been wiped out.

No, not necessarily. Let's say a comet had struck the earth and created a worldwide flood, not all forms of life would have been wiped out. The animals and humans in high lying areas would have survived. Domesticated animals like sheep and goats would, however, have provided a source of meat, etc., so it would have made sense to take them along.

Your pensive logic is well taken for those carnivorous meat eaters, but why are you discriminating against the gentle vegetarians amongst us? Why did you not address a flood story with an ark just full of grains and vegetables? I guess discrimination was widely accepted way back then, huh! After all, God did punish Cain, since he only offered grain, whereas He preferred Abel, since Able was a meat "herder" and from his flocks offered that savory juicy meat to God. God is a carnivore! The real question is, where is mankind to go for salvation? Surely not to himself, as we are on the brink of destruction, according to certain psychics and religious fanatics; we do not need more Strangelove, Dr., I mean, Dr. Strangelove. Wow, if mankind cannot look to itself, nor to God for salvation, who seems to be a frivolous, unpredictable, unjust, and highly prejudiced Being; not only to favor a particular nation, but also, it appears, to be against the men of a vegetarian diet preference. I guess a vegetarian diet is good for the body, but not the soul. And likewise, in reverse, a carnivorous diet. But here we see the cunning of mankind. Whereas most animals are either one or the other, man and a few of the other, intelligent, animals have taken a safe refuge, in order to save their kind. And man, in particular, like at a gambling casino, are betting on everything possible on the tables. The smarter ones eat anything and everything edible, and then there are those really, really smart ones, who eat even those things not meant to be "swallowed."  But man's salvation can only be gotten with the help of some very wise, mystic, guide to show us those higher things that are meant for the dinner table. Who are the true mystics amongst us, and what are they eating?
