Spooky encounter on ghost-hunting trip at Devon museum

A GROUP of ghost-hunters taking part in a 'Night at the Museum' tour at a Devon museum were met with some spooky success.

A photograph that appears to show a woman's face looming out of the museum’s floorboards is puzzling staff at Torquay Museum.

The museum, noted for having the only human mummy in Devon, is now planning a second night at the museum experience

Carl Smith, from Torquay Museum, said: "It appears to be a woman, and from the angle of the photograph it looks like she is submerged into the floor, almost like she is below floor level.

"We had a Paranormal Experience evening, during which an amazing photo of what appears to be a ghost was taken. We were very excited about the picture, as we were taking photos all over the place, and it wasn't until afterwards when we examined them more closely that we noticed it, which was quite spooky.

"It's a pretty clear photograph, and there was no one else present when the photo was taken. So we are at a loss to explain it. It is a bit of a mystery, and there seems to be no other explanation.

"The photo was taken next to the fire in the Old Farmhouse at the museum.

"Most of the equipment in the Old Farmhouse was left to us by a benefactor, and the oldest chair in the collection has been dated at around 300 years old. All of the furniture and equipment has had a lot of human interaction, and maybe this is where the energy has come from.

"The response to the evening in May was so good that we've decided to have another. So if you missed the first Paranormal Experience evening, now is your chance to test your nerve during a real Night at the Museum."

Chris Marshall, of Real Investigators of the Paranormal, said: "Torquay Museum is housed in a beautiful Victorian building with a rich history and tales of paranormal activity. The museum has played host to famous figures over the past 150 years, is home to Devon's only human mummy, and has extensive collections of ancient and unusual objects from across the globe. This makes it a fascinating prospect to investigate.”

Amateur ghost hunters have captured an image of what looks like a shadowy woman's face in Torquay Museum.
The group had been investigating the building, which dates back 140 years, as part of a special "Night at the Museum" event which had been organized to look for evidence of paranormal activity.

When they got together later to review the pictures they'd taken they were surprised to discover a ghostly face peering out from the level of the floorboards in one of the photographs.

"It appears to be a woman, and from the angle of the photograph it looks like she is submerged into the floor, almost like she is below floor level," said staff member Carl Smith.

"It's a pretty clear photograph, and there was no one else present when the photo was taken. So we are at a loss to explain it. It is a bit of a mystery, and there seems to be no other explanation."

The peculiar image was captured in the museum's Old Farmhouse section which is home to a collection of farm equipment and a chair that dates back over 300 years.

"All of the furniture and equipment has had a lot of human interaction, and maybe this is where the energy has come from," said Smith.

The group are now planning to return for another night to see if they can capture anything else.

For a ghost, she's showing a lot of cleavage.

There appears to be a very low light source glowing upwards upon the woman's lower neck and face. It's all just a little bit modern in appearance. I thought it might've been an "older" or more "ancient" looking "ghost" pic.

No, it looks like an actual person photographed in the darkness to me. I do believe in the ghosts but my very strong power of deduction tells me, this is not a real spectre.

I agree with what was stated earlier, it looks like a person who was photographed in the dark.
