Submerged pyramid structure found in Azores
by Sharon Hill • September 25, 2013

Not sure what to make of this discovery, but it is in a volcanic area with seamounts and there are questions about the historical settlements here. Of course, this discovery is being linked to Atlantis.

Terceira: Subaquatic pyramidal shaped structure found – Azores | Portuguese American Journal.

An underwater pyramidal structure was identified at a depth of 40 meters off the coast of Terceira Island. The perfectly squared structure was sighted by a private yacht owner, Diocleciano Silva, during a recreational trip.

Estimated to be approximately 60 meters high, the enigmatic structure was recorded through GPS digital technology. “The pyramid is perfectly shaped and apparently oriented by the cardinal points,” Silva told Diário Insular, the local newspaper.

The evidence comprises of a great variety of protohistoric pyramidal rock structures, some of them 13 meters tall. The structures may have been built according to an oriented plan, aligned with the summer solstices, which suggests they were built with an intended purpose.

Stories like this get covered on “Before It’s News” as “not human-made” structures. I have no clue what that means. Whatever this is, I don’t know. But the abundance and size variety of seamounts has me wondering if this is natural. Volcanics will also be aligned due to fissures or hotspots. See info on the origin of Terceira. What evidence do we have that a pyramid would have been built? Is a common feature? What would account for it’s offshore location?

Anyone have any info about this? Credible or incredible?

Reports of Underwater Pyramid off the Coast of Terceira Island

     Created on Thursday, 26 September 2013 12:05

Portuguese news sites are reporting on the apparent discovery of a man-made subaquatic pyramid between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira in the Azore in Portugal. The underwater pyramidal structure was found by a private yacht owner, Diocleiano Silva, who spotted the strange shaped object on sonar at a depth of 40 metres while sailing in the area.

The structure is said to be perfectly squared and oriented by the cardinal points. It is thought to be approximately 60 metres tall with a base of around 8,000 square metres. The Portuguese Hydrographic Institute of the Navy is currently analysing the data to determine whether it is in fact man-made or not.

'Sunken Atlantis Pyramid' Discovered off Azores Coast

    Created on Thursday, 26 September 2013 11:09

A huge pyramid had been discovered off the Azores islands by Portuguese amateur sailor Diocletian Silva.

The 60m-tall structure was found underwater between the islands of Sao Miguel and Tercira. Its base measures 8,000 sq m - bigger than a football field - and Silva believes it was man-made.

He says his find may be a remnant of the legendary lost world of Atlantis, which sank into the ocean after a failed attempt to invade Athens.

Silva found the pyramid around five months ago while fishing on his yacht in the area. He discovered the structure through bathymetric navigation and its tip is submerged around 40ft.

Giant Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Island Associated With Atlantis, Portuguese Navy Investigating.

Researchers have discovered an underwater pyramid 60 meters high and 8000 meters square base near the Bank De João de Castro, between the islands of Terceira and São Miguel.

The structure was identified by the sailor Diocleciano Smith (in this video) based on bathymetry readings. The author does not believe that the pyramid is of natural origin.

The matter is already being investigated with the support of the Portuguese Navy.

Terceira, is an island in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the larger islands of the archipelago, with a population of 56,000 inhabitants in an area of approximately 396.75 km². It is the location of the historical capital of the archipelago, the Azores' oldest city and UNESCO Heritage Site (Angra do Heroísmo), the seat of the judicial system (Supreme Court), main base of the Azores Air Zone Command (Commando da Zona Aérea dos Açores) Base Aérea nº 4 and to a United States Air Force detachment.

Giant Underwater Pyramid Found Near Azores Islands

    Created on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 11:25

Researchers (I’m not sure what they’re researching, the ocean?) have discovered what appears to be a giant underwater pyramid in the middle of the ocean near an area known as the Bank De Joao de Castro. This is in between the islands of Terceira and Sao Miguel, in the middle of the Azores archipelago which is situated in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. The pyramid is allegedly 60m high and has a base of 8000 square metres which makes it a pretty significant structure, even if it is sitting on the ocean floor.

It was discovered by sailor Diocleciano Silva via bathymetry readings (these are actually a really concept – it’s the study of the underwater depth of lake or ocean floors) and is currently being seriously investigated by these researchers with the assistance of the Portuguese Navy. Diocleciano Silva doesn’t believe that the pyramid can possible be of man made origin given where it is located but no definitive answers about it have been given yet. However, given the fact that the area has been underwater for 20,000 years since the last ice age, it definitely seems like something out of the ordinary is up with it.

Lost City of Atlantis Found Near Azores Island Chain In Portugal, 2013?

    Created on Wednesday, 25 September 2013 11:11

The legendary Atlantis, was first mentioned by the Greek philosopher, Plato in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias, written in c. 360 BC. According to Plato, Atlantis was a naval power lying “across the Pillars of Hercules” that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of the legendary Athenian lawgiver Solon, i.e. in the 10th millennium BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean “in a single day and night of misfortune.

The newly discovered Pyramid is said to be sixty meters tall with a base of approximately 8,000 square meters. It is around forty meters below water and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions, similar to the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Legends of an advanced prehistoric civilization know as Atlantis have been around since the beginning of history, but previously those who searched for it were divided whether or not it was located near the Azores, South America or elsewhere.

From as far back as Plato it was suggested the original builders of the pyramids lived west of Gibraltar, but findings of Machu Picchu, and other curiosities in the Mediterranean, led people to believe it was on the other side of the Atlantic.

According to Diocleciano Silva, the newly discovered Pyramid is sixty meters tall with a base of approximately 8,000 square meters. It is around forty meters below water and aligned with the four cardinal compass directions, similar to the Great Pyramid of Giza.

As the area is a volcanic zone, a natural rise in the group cannot yet be ruled out, however, some archaeologists fear that the ‘natural formation’ conclusion may be drawn too quickly if the data contradicts what is already believed to be true about the history of the region.

The Azorean archipelago was discovered uninhabited by the Portuguese around 1427. However, recent archaeological evidence on Pico island suggests that humans occupied the Azores thousands of years before the Portuguese arrived.

Evidence has been found on all nine of the Azorean archipelago including pyramidal rock structures, some of them 13 meters tall, which appear to align with the summer solstices, an epigraph from Roman times, Carthaginian sanctuaries, cave art, and megalithic structures.
