“Working Families Flexibility Act,”   A Sham

Dear Voter,

We spend one-third of our lives at work. And everyone deserves to be paid fairly for the hours they work.

But that's not how some in Congress see it.

Right now, current laws say hourly workers who are forced to work overtime, more than 40 hours a week, are paid time and a half. So if a worker's normal pay is $10 an hour, he or she would be paid $15 for overtime hours worked.

Will you speak up for workers now?

Think about it. These are extra hours workers have to spend away from their families, and they deserve the overtime pay they receive.

But under a new scheme, House leaders want to change the Fair Labor Standards Act; instead of forcing employers to pay their employees overtime pay, workers would just be given "comp days" annually to compensate for extra hours worked.

This may sound all fine and dandy, but when it comes down to it, workers still are going to be working the same amount of hours; they now will just be paid less. This bill will give incentive to employers to make their staffs work longer hours with no extra pay.

This bill is bad news for all workers. It's moving fast, so we need you to take action now.

There are many good bills that have been introduced in Congress this year that would ensure all workers are paid fairly and receive benefits that give them flexibility on the job. Congress should act to help working people, not hurt them more.

Send a message to Congress now.
