Los Jameos del Agua (Water Caverns) - Carretera de Orzola, Malpais de La Corona, Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain

Lanzarote's Jameos del Agua are one of the island's most unusual tourist attractions and consist of a series of underground caves, tunnels and grottoes.

Standing at the base of the Monte de la Corona volcano, the caves and passageways are the result of volcanic activity and accumulations of gas and huge bubbles within the molten lava, around 3,000 years ago.

Highly developed with tourism in mind, the Jameos del Agua caves now incorporate a swimming pool, gardens, a nightclub with bars, and an enormous concert cave, which can hold around 600 people.
