According to Fox News on Dec. 21, actress Mila Kunis, chosen earlier this year as Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive, is now the target of an ethnic slur aimed at her by a Ukrainian politician. Kunis was born in the Ukraine and is Jewish.
The politician, Igor Miroshnichenko, said that Kunis is not a true Ukrainian. That was bad enough, but then he called her a "zhydovka," according to TMZ. The term loosely translates to "dirty Jewess," according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center. It is a pejorative that was heavily used during the Holocaust.
A rabbi from the Simon Wiesenthal Center wrote to the Ukrainian prime minister about the ethnic slur. He described it as "a slur invoked by the Nazis and their collaborators as they rounded up Jews to murder them at Babi Yar and in the death camps."
As of this writing, Kunis has made no comment on the ethnic slur.
Mila Kunis is best known for starring in "That '70s Show" from 1998 to 2006. She branched out into movies and was last seen in the film "Ted." She is the voice of Meg Griffin on the animated series "Family Guy" and will be seen in March of 2013 playing Theodora in Sam Raimi's "Oz: The Great and Powerful."
