The historical-critical approach to Atlantis

Great News:

Finally, the book on Aristotle's real opinion on Plato's Atlantis is available in English!

Time and again we read: Aristotle thought Atlantis to be an invention! Many doubts have been expressed so far on this view - but a substantial research was missing. Now a thorough analysis shows clearly: It is not true. But there is more: How did this wrong opinion come into being? How did it become established? And which scientists did not share the wrong opinion silently or even openly? And what is more: If Aristotle did not think that it was an invention - what did he really think, then?

This book does not solve the question of Atlantis but it provides an important corner stone for every valid Atlantis theory and gives a deep insight into the science of Atlantis research of the last 200 years.

Obviously, he thought it to be an invention:  "He who created it also sunk it."

@Arcturus:

> Obviously, he thought it to be an invention:  "He who created it also sunk it."

And why do you think this quote is Aristotle's quote?
This is the crucial point: It simply isn't.

It's a quote from a work of Posidonius who quotes an unknown Atlantis skeptic, and this all is quoted by Strabo, and deep within this nested quotes there is a quote of Aristotle on ... on Homer and the wall of the Achaeans ... but a word of Aristotle on Atlantis? It is not there!n Only few scientists support the view that there is a quote from Aristotle on Atlantis, and they have *no* arguments to support this. Much more scientists stood silent, and some even rejected this view ...!

Obviously, Aristotle did NOT think Atlantis to be an invention.

This is what the book is about.

Aristotle and Atlantis:

See the other (English) videos:

among them a video "Some reasonable thoughts about Plato's Atlantis":
