Just a bit of Bible History for you. In 1380, John Wycliffe wrote the first English bible. He used a Latin Vulgate Bible as reference because it was the only one available to him. In his time there where Latin, Greek, and Hebrew Bibles. He wrote it because he believed that the organized Church's teaching were contrary to the Bible's. He wanted English speaking people to be able to read the truths and he opposed the tyranny of the Roman Church that threatened anyone having a non-Latin Bible. There were many others who wrote the Bible after hIm, including Martin Luther King in 1517.

Trouble is, with history, it is only as accurate as the author writes, and what is allowed to survive. Add a few translations, some assumptions and interpretations and good politics and what do you have?
