Physicist Claims To Explain Crop Circles With Microwaves And GPS

Huffington Post UK   Michael Rundle   First Posted: 1/8/11 11:48 GMT   Updated: 1/8/11 13:42 GMT

Crop circles have dazzled and baffled fans of UFOs and ornate arable farming for more than a century.

The mystery appeared to be solved when several high-profile cases revealed that the designs were the work of artists and mischief-makers with barrels, planks of wood and a plenty of spare time. Yet not all could be explained.

In recent years crop circle artists have pushed the boundaries of ingenuity, boasting ever-more complex patterns and shapes. Some crop circle designs now feature up to 2,000 shapes, while analysis by mathematicians shown that they can be built on deep patterns and structures that are otherwise invisible to the eye.

But, once again, the case appears to have been cracked. A report in this month’s edition of Physics World by Richard Taylor, director of the Materials Science Institute at the University of Oregon, claims that artists may be using the Global Positioning System, lasers and even microwaves to create their patterns.

According to Taylor, microwaves could potentially be used to make crop stalks fall over into horizontal patterns, increasing the speed and efficiency of artists and perhaps explaining the remarkable detail they have lately achieved.

He says: "Crop circle artists are not going to give up their secrets easily. This summer, unknown artists will venture into the countryside close to your homes and carry out their craft, safe in the knowledge that they are continuing the legacy of the most science-oriented art movement in history."

Take a look at some of the world's most impressive crop circles in our gallery below.

Using the yellow flowers of **** as a background, wheat crops are planted in circles to create the five Olympic rings on March 29, 2008 in Kaiyang County in Southwest China's Guizhou Province. Each ring is 136m in diameter and 9m wide. (Photo by Zhang Tianlin/ChinaFotoPress/Getty Images)

A 100 square metre crop circle image of The Streets musician Mike Skinner, created by Mike and his crew, who spent 24 hours on a tractor, in a field opposite Castle Cary station in Somerset. The image will greet festival goers stepping off the train to travel to the Glastonbury Festival.

How sad that an otherwise intelligent person would rather believe that armies of night goggled artists with GPS units and microwave transmitters large enough to lay down crops, hauling in generators to power them, and the ability to create what is seen overnight, all without being seen at all, with no traces or tracks of them or their equipment being evident after completion , thqn to accept that MOST complex crop circles are likley of " unknown " origin as a starting point and speculating from there.

Whether the answer is plasma, directed by nature or otherwise, intelligent intra-dimensional entities capable of such expressions for certain purposes, or whatever else makes some logical sense, it is NOT the work of pranksters. Sophisticated events costing vast sums to accomplish can only continue if there is money to be made; and since anyone can fly around and shoot pic's there is no benefit to hoaxing them. hoaxs are almost always simple and crude and immediatey recognizable as such. Some are real. and are important.

It is insulting to the intelligence to imagine people wearing night vision goggles carrying complex machinery around in private fields at night, with power sources and methodology exact enough to produce what is seen. it is one of the most ridiculous and pathetic excuses I have ever heard...more outlandish than anyone with a shred of sense could accept. Shame of anyone calling themselves a scientist proposing the most unlikley possibility as one to consider.
I would sooner believe in the military satellite theory , and that I do not accept.

I believe that crop circles are advanced intelligence manifesting in the physical plane using means that are intended to educate those who are not bound by skepticism to the point of refusal to accept plain reality as seen. it may be dimensional, or it may be alien , but it is NOT caused by people with boards on their feet after a few pints at the pub.

Far too complex, far too exact, and far too unusual to be delegated to the ravings of the scientific fringe as some prank done by people with unlimited budgets for hardware and the ability to perform the impossible almost in an instant.

Microwaves carried by pranksters indeed..how pathetic.
