Today 1:46 AM Facial Imaging Used To Identify Bin Laden's Body

CNN's Live Blog reports that according to U.S. officials, facial imaging was one of the methods used to identify Osama bin Laden's body.

One official said it was clear to the assault force that the body matched bin Laden's description, but they used "facial recognition work, amongst other things, to confirm the identity."

A senior national security official said that they had multiple confirmations that the body was bin Laden, saying they had the "ability to run images of the body and the face."

The national security official would not confirm if DNA testing was performed.

Today 1:52 AM Osama Bin Laden Took Path Of Fanaticism And Terror

The Associated Press reports:

Osama bin Laden was born into one of Saudi Arabia's most prosperous families, but he left home in search of revolution, found a path of fanaticism, inspired a murderous organization that terrorized the West, and ultimately became the most wanted man in the world.

On Sunday, the most intense manhunt in history finally caught up with bin Laden, whose money and rageful preaching inspired the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, which killed almost 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania, and ripped a hole in America's sense of security in the world.

Reviled in the West as the personification of evil, bin Laden was admired and even revered by some radical Muslims who embraced his vision of unending jihad against the United States and Arab governments he deemed as infidels.

His actions set off a chain of events that led the United States into wars in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, and a clandestine war against extreme Islamic adherents that touched scores of countries on every continent but Antarctica. America's entire intelligence apparatus was overhauled to counter the threat of more terror attacks at home.

Today 1:56 AM Media Scrambles To Cover News

HuffPost's Michael Calderone reports:

NEW YORK – White House reporters sharing a laugh with President Obama on Saturday found themselves racing online and soberly appearing on camera 24 hours later to cover an East Room statement that will go down in history: Osama bin Laden is dead.

Obama addressed the American people around 11:35 p.m., almost two hours after the White House sent reporters scrambling with word of a surprise announcement that left many scratching their heads about what could be so pressing that it couldn’t wait until Monday morning.

BNA reporter Cheryl Bolen, assigned Sunday to file “pool reports” for the press corps, informed her colleagues at 9:45 p.m. that “the president will make a statement as early as 10:30 p.m.” Meanwhile, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer notified the world via Twitter that Obama would be making a major announcement, but provided no details of what was to come.

Today 2:04 AM Ground Zero Reacts, 'As Close As We'll Ever Get' To Victory

A sudden outpouring of New Yorkers made their way from around the city late Sunday night, celebrating jubilantly after President Obama announced that al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden was killed in a military operation.

Subways and cabs let out a steady stream of flag-carrying New Yorkers, as chants of "USA, USA" broke out before turning to group renditions of "God Bless America" and other patriotic songs. Homemade placards broke the night sky, while more daring partiers climbed light poles and traffic lights to lead cheers. A number of military veterans were on hand, too, soaking in the event as a sort of makeshift victorious homecoming.

"I guess we never had any sort of victory parade or anything, but we all came back, so maybe this is as close as we'll ever get to maybe calling something victory," said Navy veteran Adam Kuehne.

Today 2:09 AM Thousands Celebrate In The Capital

HuffPost's Amanda Terkel reports from Washington, D.C.:

Thousands thronged to Lafayette Park and Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House on Sunday night, many of them local college students coming out with their friends. People swarmed right up to the fence -- dangerously climbing lamp posts and trees to get a better look at the crowd -- until police officers put up barricades to keep them off the sidewalk. (Despite getting restricted to a smaller area, the mob remained friendly, shouting, "DC's finest!" and thanking them for their work.)

Some brought out their 2008 Obama-Biden campaign signs, and there were even a few chants of "Four more years!" A carnival-like atmosphere persisted, with cars honking, people dressed up as everything from Santa Claus to Uncle Sam, and the smell of cigar smoke and alcohol hanging in the air. Everyone who talked to The Huffington Post said they wanted to come out tonight to celebrate America and were excited at the news of Osama bin Laden's death.

"As a citizen soldier, I'm celebrating achieving one of the promises of the president, and obviously killing the number one terrorist," said Jaime Areizaga-Soto, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. National Guard and a candidate for the Virginia state senate who carried a "Latinos for Obama" sign. "It's a great day to celebrate as a soldier too, because obviously we've lost many of our brothers and sisters in this mission, and today we've achieved a critical part of the mission -- maybe the most important one."

Today 2:18 AM Students React To Bin Laden's Death: 'It's Gonna Be The 4th Of July Until The 4th Of July'

HuffPost's Leah Finnegan reports:

Paige Lavender was in math class when a friend ran in and said four ominous words: "We're going to war." It was Sept. 11, 2001. Two planes had just careened into the World Trade Center. Lavender was in the 7th grade.

Sunday, Lavender, now a senior at the University of West Virginia, received a phone call from her boyfriend telling her that the president was going to make an unusual speech that night. The journalism major immediately went to Twitter, where unconfirmed reports of Osama bin Laden's death were clotting the feed. When Obama formally announced the world's most wanted terrorist's death at 11:35 p.m., Lavender said she got chills.

Wow first the phony Birth Certificate now the  death of the leader of al CIAda.

What an actor !!!

All he needs now is a leading role on a Trekkie starship and he'll be on the performance equal with actors like Patrick Stewart, Bill Shatner and Kate Mulgrew.

Looks like the Globalist have their fix in despite all his failures the past 3 years.
