Drink through the World Trade Center

At the Guy office we often come across things that make us blink very hard, and that’s not because of the overzealous air conditioning blasting our faces. Occasionally we find cause to marvel, and those are exactly the things we like to share with you. We hope that your world will expand at least one iota, knowing that these strange and wonderful things exist.

It’s safe to say the people behind the marketing of the horrendous 1970′s remake of King Kong weren’t aware that over two decades later the World Trade Center was going to become the center of an unforgettable tragedy and a pivotal part of American history. Even taking that into consideration, the idea of drinking straw involving the World Trade Center (and a large climbing primate) was a really dumb idea.

On its best day this product was a dipshit.

The unlucky child who was gifted this item would drink their beverage and as their little mouths enacted the age old physical tradition of sucking, a tiny King Kong would rise between the Twin Towers until he jerkily bobbled at the top.

On its best day this product was a dipshit, but thanks to a horrible day in our history this straw goes for $450 on Ebay rather than the $0.45 it’s worth.

Thanks to Soylentgreen on the CHUD.com message boards for the reminder this abomination exists.

In the 1976 remake, King Kong lies dead after being shot down from atop the World Trade Center.
