A Father & Daughter Discussion

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words, redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch  Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends, because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked , 'How is your friend Audrey doing?' She replied, ' Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She Is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA, and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.' The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, 'That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!'

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, 'Welcome to the Republican party.'

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between Republican and Democrat I'm all ears.

If you ever wondered what side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat..
If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.
If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a conservative reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A liberal will delete it because s/he's "offended".

***Of course the only problem with the Republican Party is that they too often promote kelptocratic policies similar to 3rd world dictatorships.  Also when you explain to them that the military, police and fire departments are socialist in nature cuz it takes "redistributed" tax money to fund these organizations they get all pissy.  Also they are all about personal responsibility for everyone in America unless it involves the military, the banks, or corporations with environmental issues then usually they look the other way.***

No such problems in the Constitution Party tho.

There's a bunch of typical conservative bull for you, typical of the kind of crap you bring here.

In the first place, no father and daughter would ever have that kind of discussion, unless they were rich.

1.  Sure, we Democrats want to redistribute the wealth - back to the middle class, who work hard for it!  Why shouldn't we? The wealth HAS been distributed, from the middle class to the rich, like they are trying to do in Wisconsin.

If the conservatives have their way, we will all be the working poor, so worried about our jobs and bills that we can't worry about anything else.  They also want to bring back child labor and eliminate the minimum wage. Since you are a conservative, I am guessing that you agree with that, too. I'd suggest doing a little research into the history of labor in this country before we had unions.

2.  Guns - I don't know of any liberal movement that ever advocated getting rid of all guns.  We want to ban assault weapons and have better background checks.  If you can think of anytime any liberal movement anywhere ever suggested banning all guns, by all means, please mention it, or else retract it.  I am guessing after the Tucson tragedy, the majority of people might think that it might be a bad idea to let just anyone get a gun, especially one that fires thirty rounds at a time. If you do, you're in the minority.

3.  Free speech, I never heard of any move to ban free speech.  Conservatives are  the ones for censoring anything they don't like - everything from Janet Jackson's nipple slip, to Howard Stern.  Name one network that liberals wanted to be shut down.  See, the difference is, we actually believe in free speech, conservatives only like the speech that agrees with them.

4.  Don't even bring up religion.  Conservatives want Christianity to be the national religion, want intelligent design to be taught in the classroom, and believe in "creationism" and a global flood. They are holding us back as a country.

So, to sum up, if you believe in:

No rights for workers
No minimum wage
child labor
No unions
No women's rights
War
Crazy people having guns
Taking money from the middle class to give to the rich

Then you are a conservative, and you're on the wrong side of history, too.

Hi Jennifer,

This was obviously one of those junk mailings that clutter everyone's inbox.  They usually tell you to forward it to everyone you know, or something bad will happen to you.

Predictably, Vol fell for it.

I know history, and I am opposed to these tea-bagger Republican type pandering to the NWO and having any Union give up their collective bargining rights.  I don't want a kleptocracy here in America and I made that clear in my disclaimer at the bottom.

All gun grabbing movements start from the CFR, the UN or any liberal think tank as a means to strip guns from citizens so the NWO can take over.  We already have background checks and waiting periods but there is a thing called the black market where background checks and waiting periods have no meanings.

3.  Free speech, I never heard of any move to ban free speech.  Conservatives are  the ones for censoring anything they don't like - everything from Janet Jackson's nipple slip, to Howard Stern.  Name one network that liberals wanted to be shut down.  See, the difference is, we actually believe in free speech, conservatives only like the speech that agrees with them.

both liberals and conservatives are guilty of this.  I've been banned by both type of websites in the past.

4.  Don't even bring up religion.  Conservatives want Christianity to be the national religion, want intelligent design to be taught in the classroom, and believe in "creationism" and a global flood. They are holding us back as a country.

True conservatives really do need to learn how science works.

So, to sum up, if you believe in:

No rights for workers  Wrong, I don't want America to become China.
No minimum wage I never said that.  Hell I am the one leading the charge here to END the FED and save the middle class
child labor No !
No unions No !
No women's rights As long as they take equal responsibility I am every bit for women's rights.
War All the times I posted ENDGAME here and let AO know of the NWO's plans for America, I think not.
Crazy people having guns  This happens anyway whether you legislate it or not.
Taking money from the middle class to give to the rich.    Poland and Guernsey's economy's are thriving because they are not on a fractional-reserve banking system.  I would like America to be on a debt free monetary system and not have the rich become tax free when they hit the billionaire mark like they do now.

Then you are a conservative, and you're on the wrong side of history, too.

Conservatives are whores to the NWO's kleptocrat agenda when there's money in it for them as are the liberals whores to the NWO's socialist agenda when there's money in it for them.  Both are working towards a less libertarian constitutional nation and more towards neo-feudal authoritarian nation.

If anything I am a lefty-libertarian who understands the needs to regulate capitalism before it turns kleptocratic.  However I am opposed to socialism and wealth re-distribution for non-crisis, non-medical lifestyles.  We as Americans need to have a Single Payer system to get our health care costs under control or the NWO won't have to destroy our economy when health care will.

In fact Byron in another topic pointed out to be how the Constitution Party wasn't a pro-social program party.  I conceded that point to him and I offered him a statement whereas if the CP doesn't get the idea for the need for a social saftey net for Americans via government spending due to excesses of capitalism then the CP will implode before it gets anywhere in America because of the history of capitalism vs socialism in America.

I posted this to make a point but I am not letting conservatives off the hook either.  Many of them are closet-Kleptocrats and I expose this.
